@josiahknapp7198 No worries. I was able to catch a small rooster, pompano, jacks, mackerel, and ladyfish right off the hotel beach. We also took a charter and I landed a nice sailfish. Was a trip of a lifetime

poppers are your best bet for those two. Live blue runners would be prime bait. Any size

and a good spot in you have one e rented a place on jaco beach

I just throw them in a pool of water so they stay somewhat cooler. Then I just go home earlier. I don't take a cooler with me because people steal everything there sadly.

I don't know that region well but next time you can just ask around town too and someone will point you in the right direction.

@@josiahknapp7198 my experience was the only person on a beach or standing on a coral bluff…casting out and getting hits on every cast…..sometimes a sneaker wave would knock me silly and my legs would get thrashed by the sharp coral…wasn’t chumming for sharks either.

the hooks normally either come out or will rust out within a few days. It's also better for those fish to not take them out of the water since they're pelagics.

I use an 8 foot rod cause it’s a very diverse size to use. It’s worked perfect for what I do so I recommend that. But if you’re comfortable surf casting with a 13 footer then you do you.

@@josiahknapp7198 Thanks a lot for the quick reply Josiah. I think it's best to keep it simple and just bring the 8' rod and just concentrate on casting lures. It's easier to travel light and move around if needed. Cheers from Canada.

yeah the fishing down there is better than where I fish. The further you get from Puntarenas the better.

What do u target there?

not really, I only eat them if one dies and I'll usually fry it the day of.

you can catch them along any beach in costa rica

rooster fish, cubera snappers, and snook are the most sought after fish off the beach

@@josiahknapp7198 cheers man, I now have a selection of lures mainly poppers and lures like mag minnows/darters 90-150mm as well as metals and bucktails. So will see how it goes in a few weeks time
