Toner`s pub on Baggott Street in Dublin. This bar was also used in the 1979 movie `The Hard Way` starring Patrick McGoohan and Lee Van Clief, oh yeah, and my dad as the Dublin detective on the walkie talkie in a trench coat in Dublin airport. Great movie. It is the only movie the late Edna O`Brien ever acted in. The late Mick Lynch ( Dinny, from Glen Row ) has a scene in the movie with Patrick McGoohan in this bar Toner`s. Living near enough all my life i have always enjoyed a pint every now and again in this proper old Dublin favourite drinking establishment. Slainte.

Saw it in the theater in ‘71 when it came out. What a crazy name I thought. But absolutely loved it and sought a decent copy of it for years after home video came out. My favorite Coburn movie along with Waterhole #3.

At the time, at least at the last part of the Avengers that Mrs Peel was on, I loved her, though she was a bit my senior. But she was sooo different from ANY other female actor, it was actress at that time. And she was sooo good at playing that part, Diana Riggs I mean. But that car! I'd just bought my first car, a 1964 Triumph Spitfire. It was in 1966 and I couldn't afford a Lotus Elan, so I made dew. I could go on about that show, and on and on ...

I'm reminded of Barbara Feldon of Get Smart.

Diana Rigg and her lotus Elans were perfect together, she actually seemed to like driving those cars at high speed I know she wrecked one of them. She later commented that "I have never seen so much fiberglass scattered everywhere". Patrick MacNee didn't like driving it was usually his stuntman driving or he was "driving" with a fan blowing and a rear projection screen running. Supposedly when he did drive he stayed in 2nd gear I don't believe that he even knew how to shift those Bentleys. When he moved to the US/Palm Springs I believe. He had a Cadillac which he also didn't like driving and mainly loaned it out to friends to drive. I think living in London or even NYC a car is more of an inconvenience than a benefit. Only 25% of people in NYC even have a driver's license. In Great Britain about 70% have drivers licenses. Diana Rigg didn't have a drivers license before "The Avengers" but had to have one to drive her Lotus Elans. She finally bought an original Mini Cooper for her personal driving I suspect when working just at the theater doing Shakespeare she probably couldn't afford a car she wasn't paid much back then. She actually did much of her driving of that big Red Mercury Cougar OHMSS particularly she did the driving on that ice race track. The driving stunt coordinator actually complemented her driving saying she was a natural rally car driver.

She's gorgeous, and I always wanted a Lotus Elan.
