@Hackitect the automatic I use for driving lessons has a lower gear for going down steep hills which is second gear. A modern car with 8 gears will have a low gear to slow you down going down steep hills. Before I bought the car, I took it for a test drive and found a steep hill and put it in the low gear and it slowed the car down and that is the gear you would move off when you're in the snow. @CrimeScope1this has happened to me over the years and you usually fail your test for not checking your mirrors before braking. Always check your mirrors before a change of speed or a change of direction. Good luck with your test and never let failure get you down, just make sure it makes you stronger.

@lolstar3271 other road users can be unpredictable as you well know. Some drivers not all can ruin your test by not paying attention to the situation. It makes my blood boil when the idiot cuts you up in this case your daughter is behaving correctly and must pay a heavy price. Make sure she books another test and good luck on her next one.

@ZoeLouise_98 just be careful with your speed I had someone fail on Mather ave because they never went over 30mph when the road was clear. The parked cars can distract you and you won't be aware of your speed. You have a wonderful time, and day is it Speke or Norris green. Just remember to stay calm and concentrate for every second you are with the examiner. Good luck.

@@petermalone6688 my test is in speke. i've been watching all your speke videos, sometimes twice, and they have made me feel a bit more confident. my instructor told me they brought back the hale route recently, which i found quite easy. just a lot of 40 roads and the 60 road coming into speke is a bit tricky if you are not used to that

hi, just to update you. i failed today at 8am on turning right on the round about from the retail into the business park (third exit) i was in the left lane, i panicked and just carried on turning right when i should of went straight. rebooked my test though as i got good advice from the examiner to do it again asap as everything else was perfect. he was lovely! peter, your videos helped me so much, and will be continuing to watch them until i pass as they’re such a great help

@petermalone6688 first of all a big congratulations to Neil for passing his test 1st time. I noticed on the vidoe on most of the 40 miles per hour routes he wasn't doing the full 40 when the roads were actually clear. He was mostly doing 32 or sometimes 30 mph. Did he get any minors for that?? And also going down the bridge by the train station south park way he mostly stayed on the right lane even when he approached the traffic lights all the way through on mather avenue even past news heys school he decided to stay on the right hand lane even on the traffic lights. I was just confused if this was the correct position. Please ur advice on this would be helpful. Other than that i thought he did incredibly well.

@@muhammadrahman7046 well spotted he got a minor fault for speed on Mather avenue and a minor fault for position normal driving South parkway. He was lucky with the position but his overall drive was excellent. Good luck with your test.

@petermalone6688 i am currently taking some lessons with my dad and i always get confused as to what position i should stay in when there is parked cars on the left on a dual carriage way or a single carriage way . Should I stay 1 meter length away from the parked cars and straggle the white line or stay on the right hand lane and then move back to the left lane when its safe and when the roads are clear. I mean this when i am on mather avenue or broadie avenue or for example under neath the bridge going down wolton road in the speke test routes, where there are always parked cars on the left. Your helpfull advice would be much appropriated

@@muhammadrahman7046 I had a pupil pass to day at Speke test centre and he passed first time I will put his video up on Monday morning and he said he went along Mather avenue but I won't know until I see the video. Stay away from the parked cars and keep you're position in the right lane just make sure you respond to the speed limit my pupil nearly failed for going to slow. Watch the video on Monday I will point it out I also have other videos which will help you check my channel out.

I watch all of your videos and they are extremely helpful so i couldn't thank you enough your amazing. And am sure many people are benefitting from your knowledge. One question i had for you is that when approaching those parked parked csrs down mather avenue if your already on the left lane down that bridge by the train station should you indicate first to move to the right lane or is the indicator not needed by just checking your middle mirror and right mirror will that be enough to move to the right lane? And then when there is a clear gap after the parked cars should you indicate back to move to the left lane. Your helpful advice would be much appropriated.

@@muhammadrahman7046 thank you for the nice comments if you're on the left coming down under the bridge you must check middle mirror right mirror and indicate if there is traffic coming on your right be careful you don't cause the vehicle to slow down unless it lets you into the right lane, and watch Neil's video again and see how he keeps his position but watch out for the second traffic light because he turned right there. @DisleyDavid yes, he did get a serious fault for cutting the corner and you would say but no one was there, and you might get a reply but there could have been. I agree with this cutting the corner because it was dangerous. I got into trouble a few months ago for a worse one than this one. Good luck with your driving test.

@petermalone6688 Thanks. As it happens, I'm an ex-driving instructor assisting my partner to pass the test. In 1999, when I last worked as any ADI, I am pretty sure that right turn would have been a minor fault. But things change, and that is why I watch these videos.

@petermalone6688 Yes. I know what you mean. It always annoyed me that they don't publicise changes. We were never officially told about dropping hand signals.

Same reason speeding or quickly driving the wrong way down a 1 way street is dangerous even if nobody is in sight or on the road when you do it. Edit - after rewatching, the lack of road markings is likely the cause of him cutting the corner and i think alot would make the same mistake there. Almost as if the test center did it on purpose to push up fails and ensure more cash coming in.

@@ZoeLouise_98 he was suppossed to turn left at the second major traffic lights but he counted a pelican crossing as a major traffic light and that was the reason he turned into the Bellway estate. You turn left at the traffic lights at Hunts cross and you turn right at the traffic lights at the Mcdonalds be careful turning right at the Maccies ask your instructor to practice the turn. @CrimeScope1 when you turn right at these lights aim for the kerb and you will see a straight arrow follow that arrow. I know you might be a bit confused because of the right arrow and your direction will be turn right at the lights. But to help you remember say to yourself when I turn right I then go ahead.
