The 65 200 at Streets of Willow
Driving the 65 fastback at Dralle Day with other members of the LA Shelby club. Engine is ~225hp (at the crank), not super fast, but is quick in the turns....I'm a shitty driver by far....

Put on an RRS suspension and you've got an amazing daily driver car.
Just to clarify, is this the 2 bll fitech? And where did you get that turbo hat on the fitech? I would love to get one just to run a remote air filter or cold air intake.
That’s one clean mustang 👏🏿sounds great!
Very clean setup! Great job 👏🏿 🙏🌹❤️🇺🇸🔥
Really nice work
What did you do to the engine head to be able to change the intake manifold those 200 have an integral intake manifold
Check VintageInlines.com- you can see the head there.
Wow, tremendous build! High-tech, yet simple to work on.
What you put to sound like that love it
best sounding 200 ever??? maybe!!!
Uh uh uhhhha uh
Please add video on how you rebuild the engine
SIX BANGER sounds good and runs great
Such an inspiration to all 200 engine owners who wants to upgrade this engine to be more drivable
That is pure bad ass!
Yey! Sounds amazing
Beautiful Engine with plenty of room.
With today's new Tech. A 200 6 cylinder can be turbo charged to do more than huge 8 and command a great presence on a road corse
Everybody Does V8s I want to build a HIPO 6 . Just Plain kool and easy to work on.
Sounds great and seems to pull like a freight train!
Really enjoy seeing what you’ve done making a fast inline 6 Mustang - love it! Hope you’re still driving it. Is it thirsty? Better mpg than a 289 hipo?
I am- at the time of the video, I'd say that I would get ~23-24 mpg on the highway. It was super reliable with lots of trips up the CA coast.
@@gus91343 Thanks much for responding! With prices of fun old driver’s cars on the rise, I’ve been brain-storming what I could buy or build that is plentiful, fun to drive, moderately powerful, easy to get parts, good enthusiast community, relatively good mpg and affordable. I’ve always loved Mustangs, but I’m not really a V-8 guy. However, I’d never even considered the inline six as anything but a commuter motor until I ran across a few postings, then yours. I actually started with the rabbit-hole of swapping in a late model 3.7L Ford V-6 before discovering the inline idea. Iam definitely intrigued! Would you venture a guesstimate of how much it would cost a guy (or gal) to build a 225hp six/5 speed for a ‘65-‘68 Mustang? Doing their own work, of course. Kudos to you on your awesome, unique ‘Stang!
@@bryandickerson5365 Funny you mention that. On FB there is a group called Vintage Mustang 6. There's a few folks on there that have added turbos and superchargers to their motors. I've gone the pricier route with my motor, but with working with stock parts, you could easily hit that number by adding an ebay turbo and intercooler, low boost (~7 psi), modifying the head for a 2bbl TBI system (like a sniper). If a stock I6 car with a 2bbl makes ~110hp, this would boost the power essentially double. All in, with a good running motor I think would be ~$2k if you modified the exhaust for the turbo yourself. Totally doable.
@@gus91343 Thanks for the info. Have to admit I was drawn to your naturally aspirated set-up, but $2K for a 220hp 6-banger is very interesting. A rough n’ ready ‘65-‘68 Coupe with some tasty handling bits and a supercharged 6 might just be the ticket!
@@bryandickerson5365 Brian, now that I think about it, I made a mistake. I think a setup like what I mentioned would be closer to 185 hp. You would need closer to 12-14lbs of boost to hit 220. I will say though, that 185 hp is close to what a 80s 5.0 would have made to the tires. Sorry for the brainfart.
I couldn't agree more with previous comments. It's very clean. "God is in the details." Thanks for sharing.
My friend, K&N air filters are bad junk. Also, the buffeting of the air under the hood will screw up the air metering of the fuel injection system. Look on later Fox body Mustangs who the air is taken from a quiet place in the fender. This makes air metering accurate and it isolates the intake noise.
hello,i was curious what type of muffler are you using
I think that was a Thrush Rattler. I have a different setup. That muffler was L O U D at street speeds.
Racing with the 200 cubic inch inline six cylinder engine with performance parts is more fun and there’s plenty of those engines around
Great car!!!! Where did you get that black antenna base from?
Hi there. Nice video. Wondering if you could please tell where did you find the '200' side fender emblems ? Please ?
I found them on Ebay. A gentleman was making them from two sets of "260" emblems per side. Not sure if he's still making them.
@@gus91343 Thank you for the quick response. Appreciate it.
Hi Gus, found your channel after seeing you on Richard Holdeners video. What steelies did you have on the dyno video? They look incredible
I got them from a company called Corsa Steelies. I'm selling mine (nothing wrong with them, just looking for something lighter), so if you're local to LA, let me know.
Didn't the 200s have an integral intake manifold? What type of head is on it?
It's a Classic Inlines aluminum head. You can see these still being sold at the Vintage Inlines store.
I love the red interior in that car.
Damn that thing sounds awesome! Great job!
How much hp dude ?
At that time the engine was about 185 rwhp. I've since turbo'd the motor and it's doing about 330 rwhp at 10psi.
Where did you get your valve cover?
What kind of birds are you raising?
that would be cool with port injection. looks like the manifold even has bosses for it. but that intake is a vast improvement over the factory log, so fuel distribution is probably ok.
that's gotta be the best sounding 6 (especially at idle) I've heard. almost V8-like
i have a 1968 Mustafa inline 6 are some of your parts custom for your I6?
What are you running as far as spindles and brake setup? Wouldn’t figure you would be running the six cylinder stuff.
True. I am using stock V8 drum spindles. The brakes are an upgraded setup from Street or Track that approximates a 1970 Trans-Am setup: streetortrack.com/brakes/disc-brake-conversion-kits/street-or-track/street-or-track-12x1-25-trans-am-front-disk-brake-system
I have the same car, what transmission do you have in there
Tremec T5Z
I have a 170 and I want to do stuff to it not sure where to start
Which intake manifold is that. I’m getting ready to do a 4.9L similar to your 200. ?
It's the intake that came with the head; it's a close copy of the Australian 2v intake in aluminum.
@@gus91343 So where do you get them?? Brand etc??
Vintageinlines.com has them.
A little hopped up. LOL. I see and hear extreme hopping going on. Yeah baby
Great video.
damn that’s one wicked badass and it’s a fastback?
One of these days im gonna find myself another 68 mustang, find a 250 to put the CI head on with a racy cam and twin webber carbs... ive seen one guy dyno his a similar set up and got 227 hp to the rear wheels... so it was closer to a 300 hp 200 i6
Do you have a link to that video? Most i have seen is about 220hp at the crank on a NA motor similar to mine. With a turbo i did a bit over 310 hp at the crank.
@@gus91343 let me find it
I wanna say it was a video on the old classic inlines website... i cant find it anymore
@@TheFARM2019 Mike at CI had some stuff he was working on for sure; haven't seen anybody be able to replicate that stuff recently.
HP ?
At that time was 185rwhp. Now about 272 rwhp.
No mate there are heaps of barra motors around. I bought a spare motor for 100 dollars . Regards mate
Aww man I want to covert my mustang into a stick shift after watching your video. I’m glad I found more I6 mustang aficionados on you tube. You guys give me hope and inspiration for my project. Keep up the good work dude.
Appreciate it! Will do!
Nice one mate. 1 thing u don't have any extinguishers. You don't want to stand there and watch your baby burn. Seen it happen. Have you had any experience with the Ford Barra motor. Designed and built in Australia. 4.0 l 4 valves per cylinder, twin over head cams , straight 6 and comes in a turbo model 2. I heard that a lot of people are trying to track 1 down. They stopped making them in 2016 I think. They are a extremely tough and powerful donk. Turbo models can make 1200 hp. I have 1 in my xr6 Ford. I'm planning to go with a large turbo
Appreciate the comment- I for sure have an extinguisher. Over here you need one if you want to take your car to the track, so it's there, just haven't had a chance to make a new video. As for the Barra, absolutely have heard of it. Rare as hens teeth over here, so I have to make do with what I have!
@@gus91343 all good mate, watch out for the barra motor, I know you will be interested in them
Get a shit load of people who must have a barra motor, and I will sell them for 3000 dollars each. There will be a fee motor for u old mate
I will get u a f6 turbo motor if you get enough people
Seriously though you can buy a brand new 182 barra motor for 4 thought dollars. I'm thinking about buying a few new ones and keep them until they are ready scarce
is that a 300 inline 6
No sir- smaller 200 ci.
@@gus91343 thank you
How many fastbacks with the 200 were made?
You know, I don't know. I've been told it's rare, but who knows?
