Its not about enjoying being shocked, its about the shock being the most effective and the people making the adverts want them to be as effective as possible no matter if it is uncomfortable for us to watch

Child out of wedlock doesnt equate to abuse. This boy was being hit by his step dad and grew up very troubled but Bernardos helped the boy to become a healthy adult with a positive relationship with his child which is the break in the cycle. The video just shows the mans journey in reverse. Even if you are against having children out of wedlock it is not equivalent to child abuse

Yh that was a terrible take from him imo, and religious families hardly have less child abuse, if anything in certain communities there's far more of it. We had a very religious neighbour and you could hear him shouting "spare the rod spoil the child" when he whacked his kids.

Ive a debilitating neurological disease, it is that intense and thatd why the advert is so intense, its trying to convey to the audience that overwhelming all encompassing awfulness that strips you of who you were

The THINK motorcycle one isnt anti motorcycle but drive carefully/dont speed. There are many great THINK driving ads for cars too that are really effective e.g. a wear a seatbelt where the kid kills his mum when they crash as is sitting behind her and not wearing a seatbelt even though she is wearing one she gets killed. Theres loads though

Most were on everyday tv, though some may be after watershed aka 9pm and aimed just for adults. There are so many really good psa and charity adverts that i remember so clearly from being a child til now. Some of the drive safe ones especially. The concept is awareness and awareness to incite action so even as a child we know things are important even if we are too young to do anything ourselves. My niece when she was five had her first pocket money and gave it to a charity voluntarily without prompting. We know so we do or we dont do. Adults and kids

Why can Americans so blasé about 40,000 plus gun violence deaths a year yet so upset by our little adverts? It confounds most people outside the US are so hardened to shootings but so squeamish about an advert 😮

Sure, a religious faith community can help kids who are experiencing any form of domestic abuse or violence. However, if you grew up as an indigenous person in the US or Canada and were put into the care of a religious community by the state, the reality was that the religious community itself was the perpetrator of abuse and violence. The leaders in many faith communities (priests, ministers, etc.) are often the abusers themselves. Same for unmarried pregnant women in Ireland who became virtually slave labour for the Church (and whose children were forcibly taken away from them). And these days in the US, what protection do faith communities offer to children who don't conform a certain view of sexual orientation? So, theoretically I agree that faith communities could be a safe harbour. But realistically, these days it seems that faith communities are more part of the problem than any kind of help.

We British don't hold back our serious and important information adverts, we make you sit up take notice and make it as realistic as possible. They are meant to be tough to look at but throughout over 2,000 years of history we have gone through a lot and its made us as a people very tough so we can watch these easily. I suppose that if you are American it would be hard to watch these adverts as Americans have been bought up with a protective bubble that doesn't allow the real world in. 💂‍♂️💂‍♂️🇬🇧🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿💙💛🇺🇦🇺🇦

You seem to be missing the point of these ads, focusing more of aesthetics and your own moral code than the messages nehind these ads. Problem with bringing your religious values into your reactions is that these ads are not specific to any faith. The Barnados ad with the guy who’s story is told in reverse - you made it all about your religious beliefs when it had literally nothing to do with faith at all. Barnados is about supporting kids from neglectful/abusive situations. The kids could come from any faith background or none at all, which is why Barnados isn’t about pontificating and acting like a missionary. It’s focused on social and mental wellbeing.

I liked these a lot, the last one is so important... No, no one is asking us to give the last bit of our paycheck to charity, or spend our weekends volunteering, but they are asking us to at least be grateful for what we have, or don't have... It's easy to forget in our every day struggles that we have already won the lottery, because just being born in the west is such an unbelievable privilege. *So the next time you are annoyed at the gas prices, spare a thought for "Maria"...*

hey guys i just found your video. I have to say, this is not having ago, im not a troll, 58 year UK all my life, ex veteran as well, But i think you have it all wrong, im only up to 15.36m first of all we dont admire the US, we used to back in the 70s, as we used to seem 10 years behind, but we have over taken them by 10 years, Not only do we have free health care, great welfare state, which is common knowledge. But you mentioned to this point, that if you not on the football team you can be something else, A CHEERLEARDER, we now have grass teams, unlike america, for the inclusive of girls, football teams, cricket teams, girls acadamies of sports, when men do women are doing now, women have there own footbal leagues, cricket leagues, and so on, womens eropean cups, world cups. in alot of sports. I agree this was not around in my day, Lets take womens rugby, same rules as the men, same competitions as the men, 6 nations, world cups, tough old sport Do you have american footaball for the ladies, im not talking about the skimpy clad girls, but playing the same as the men do you have womens baseball, no you have soft ball, why cant you give them the full game as the men. proper league, i would love to debate this

They shock the message into you, so it actually makes you stop and think about what you've just seen. They're shown after the watershed (9pm), so there is a less chance thay young kids will see them. The Rotherham thing was more about radical Muslim grooming gangs, they only really went after underage white girls. Americans reacting to British channels can get a fair few subscribers, also watch time. Have a look at how they do it, or ask them for some advice on doing it. Taffe316, bxkid7, after work reactions, the eclectic beard, JT reacts, Amanda Rea, embrace the suck 21 and plenty more. A few have gotten their silver play button.

People lost their shit because the super league would have abandoned the merit-based-reward system. Our sport has always been based on who _deserves_ the title, not who can afford to buy it. An analogy would be Biden and the previous 11 presidents getting together and deciding that America is not a democracy anymore. The same 12 ex-presidents would take turns running the country until death, then their kids take over. No chance for good ideas to be voted in, no chance for irresponsible leaders to be voted out. It was about standing up against immorality in our sport

Hey, Manchester City fan here from Manchester (the English one not the one you have over in the states) the outrage was less about the CL although it was but it was also about the damage this would do to the rest of the teams in each league. Each country has multiple leagues. This created a tier system. Here in England we have the premier league, which is the top Division, then we have the championship, league one and League 2, there there are another load of semi-pro leagues and then a bunch of amateur leagues. However lower down a side the less money they get from tickets (amateur sides generally don’t sell tickets and the “stadium” is just a local field and the players pay £20 a week to even play, so it supported by the FA who get money from the broadcasting of the top games and they divided it between ALL the teams (top sides generally get the biggest Chuck as they bring the money in which is fair enough although they probably get a bit too much) to provide context, these 4 professional leagues I mentioned have 92 club playing in them at all times. Now the sides who finish bottom of these leagues at the end of a season get relegated or demoted down for the next season and the teams to finish top get promoted in each league, this means as teams get better they can rise and as they get worse they fall. Now at the top of the premier league obviously they don’t have any higher leagues domestically but they do qualify for the champions league, and this means more money as more games are televised. This new competition would mean these teams wouldn’t need to place in the top 4 in England to get European competition...and more importantly to the owners that Champions league Broadcasting money would be reduced. This way they would get there even if they have a bad domestic run (although the FA and Prem would throw them out of all domestic comps) and there is now way this money would be fairly distributed down the leagues and this would mean the lower league sides wouldn’t make enough money to survive and whole communities would lose there clubs cause these self appointed few wanted more money. Essentially these sides could even be relegated and they would still be playing European football and getting the money. There is also the £400m a year they would get that their non-esl counterparts wouldn’t so that’s even more of a gap that would make it impossible for smaller or less prominent cause no side is small, less prominent sides to bridge the chasm. As for fans forgiving owners, some will but will never forget. Like City fans will give our owner benefit of the doubt as it’s been widely reported they only did this as they were worried that they would fall behind the competition especially when if this was to happen the Champions league and premier league money would drop drastically and they were last to join up and the 1st to leave, also He has quite a lot of credit with the fans as he has spend over 1 billion of the team and an equally amount on the local area which was a very deprived area before and he has done it in a way that didn’t just push the residents out, he set up new schools and. Education establishment and jobs. He has done more for the area that the actual government so he still has a level of trust although it’s very raw right now! United (Glazer family) , Liverpool (Fenway sports group) and Arsenal(Kronke, could be spelt wrong but owns a sports team in the US and moved it from St.Louis to LA I think?) fans are all protesting there owners who have either loaded there clubs with debt or feel they haven’t spent enough or haven’t held to club values in some way and where the driving force behind this thing, they also happen to be American which is where it’s is believed the semi-closed competition idea came from as it is against European sporting principles (not a jab or anything just how it’s viewed here) This would mean a smaller side who over a few years and multiply promotions who manage to finish the the top four of the top league or even win the premier league, Leicester City, 2016 for example or even Man City who were promoted in 1999 were for the second division(championship) who are currently top of the premier league even if that success was only due to the new owners in 2008 if this super league happened back then, they wouldn’t be in it. And they never could be. This kills the hopes and dreams for those fans. Fan who have supported this club after there father and grandfather and so on...this would destroy the hopes and dreams of those teams as well as kill the clubs. Thankfully this thing was dead within 48 hours pretty much although the Real Madrid, Barca and Juventus are still pushing for it but they NEED the English sides as our clubs have the money and global reach for broadcasters. But no English side would dare try this now...maybe in a few years they will try again but the UK government and EU are already working on blocking this from happening at all in any way shape of form, the game was built by the fans for the fans, not to be a billionaires play thing. They maybe called owners in a business sense but they are custodians in a cultural sense. To be honest no disrespect but here in the UK we don’t understand how Americans can just let owners push them around. Hopefully this shows you these people can be put in their place. No Sport is anything without fans. Even the beautiful game. Also wtf are Tottenham doing in it....they haven’t won the league since 1961 or a major trophy since 2008 and that was a first for a long time too😂 TLDR- Clubs set up by working class for working class, against spirit of competition and would destroy thousands of clubs across Europe for the sake of 12 billionaires greed, not sport without risk of failure, trust is lost but to varying degrees depending on prior levels of trust, Tottenham wtf😂.

You are allowed to have an opinion on CANZUK no matter if you are American, Spanish, Cambodian or Turkish. There is nothing new about the idea of CANZUK as it stems back to the idea of Imperial Federation in the 1880's. While I like the idea of CANZUK, I can't see how it will improve trade as NZ's greatest trading partner is Australia, Australia's greatest trading partners are in Asia, Britain's greatest trading partners are Europe and Canada's greatest trading partner is America - not with each other.

Imperial preference, which is what CANZUK is trying to revive was abandoned in the mid twentieth century. First by Canada unilaterally in 1935 and later after WWII by the other countries following the GATT agreement. The former British Dominions became in effect US Protectorates, remaining united with Britain by crown only. As they trade more and are geographically closer to the US than Britain, I cannot foresee any realistic change in circumstance for any country concerned.

As a brit, I fully support the idea of CANZUK. The british people I know anyway, quite have a positive outlook on New Zealand, Australia and Canada. I like the idea of having closer trading and free movement with them, I like focusing on those trade deals more than the US anyway, only because I feel like Trump's going to stab us in the back somehow as I do not trust his goverment one bit. I feel like we're relying to much on the US and should spread out more to other countries like CANZUK and focus on more on the commonwealth. Also know a lot of brits who have moved too or worked in Australia. I also have distant family in Canada and New Zealand, so I could also be biased lol. As your number 1 our situation might look very bad BUT if you put it into the bigger picture, we're 6th out of 197 countries, so I think we're actually doing alright for yourselves lol. Sure we dropped from number 1 a long time ago but we're still a first world country, I do think our ecomany will drop more but definitly not enough for us to have HUGE problems. Afterall Canada is 10th, Australia is 14th and there doing fine ecomany wise. I definitly see us dropping but I don't see it as having a huge huge impact over our daily lives.
