Bruce Lee: Man, Myth, Legend
США
Добавлен 29 окт 2015
Paul Bax was first published in the April, 1993 edition of Inside Karate magazine. His article, "The Return of Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do" caused quite a stir in the Jeet Kune Do community and inspired Bax to continue writing JKD related articles in addition to interviewing "the little dragons" students from his three schools in Seattle, Oakland and Los Angeles. From 2002 to 2012, Bax's internet forum reigned as one of the top online chats for JKD enthusiasts worldwide while also attracting Bruce Lee's students such as James DeMile, Jesse Glover and Pat Strong. On this channel, Bax will feature audio versions of his interviews in addition to new interviews with Lee's remaining alive students and other notable martial arts personalities.

Bruce Lee and Jeet Kune Do historian, Paul Bax, interviews Jerry Poteet student, Louis Kiss. Kiss, a graphic artist and audio-visual guru, was very adept at creating websites and editing videos, thus he came in handy for, "the keeper of the flame" and his bride and their JKD business ventures.

Wise words of wisdom! :)
For the title of this video alone I give it a thumbs up!
I did not know George Micheals knew martial arts
Maybe he did before he died...not sure. ;) Do, I know you? Your name sounds familiar, assuming it is Christopher Case.
Well, at least the cat was entertaining. 😼
@@leesiuleung1816 do you like Baxter or Baxtard? And don't say which one you think is more fitting. 😎
@ Baxtard, without a doubt. 🥸
That was very well said
Nothing on my mind tonight. Baby steps.
@@christophercase3444 something's are left best unsaid. 😁
"try to kick non-telegraphicly" "jkd kicks come from the front leg"....proceeds to telegraph by raising his knee then kicking with the rear leg. Is this how Ted Wong taught the front kick? Because this is white belt Tae Kwon Do level technique and I've never seen any O Bruce Lee student (first, second, and third gen) kick like this. Purpose of using relaxed tension in the legs for OJKD style kicks allows them to be non-telegraphic when delivered from bai-jong stance.
Zero sparring footage. Happens a lot with OJKD unfortunately. Too busy arguing about concepts to actually test skills.
I think Jerry Poteet deserves a lot of respect in regards to his training regime. Sounds like he was hardcore.
Sorry for the garbled stuff at 36 minutes...
almost 20 years ago this interview took place! Funny how I'm still being "stalked" with some of my content by certain people.

You’re walking on thin ice calling out Caruthers, Baxtard. You must have been smoking weed with that unhinged Norse God wannabe in Seattle when you came up with this video🙄. Slap some more videos on here of Burger Bob doing some “JKD” and maybe you can ask if Caruthers is any good or not. Can’t wait for comments from Torres to appear soon, this should be interesting.
Why is he walking on thin ice? It’s just a video man😂
thin ice? How? Get out of your JOHN WICK idolization of someone who doesn't even spar.

I think the Lee family made the right choice for the demonstration. Yes, he is.
how old is this footage? Even his website is decades old clips. Any sparring footage available? Curious.
@LouKiss 2010ish I believe. He posts mostly on his Facebook. Ask him on there
@@johnpauldaily sure...facebook.."ask him there"....🙄..I asked you...besides I've already asked him on his youtube channel 😜 still wont address the decades old sped up footage he continues promote himself with. No sparring footage. Think I'm worried?
@LouKiss go train instead of chasing clout on RUclips. You could train for 100 years and you wouldn't be half as a good as he is.
@@johnpauldaily just finished training and had some great first time students this morning. Great way to end the year! I'm not stuck in 2010 (especially on the mental side of this) so I ain't afraid to post recent footage and pix so I already beat your 100 year challenge plus what I do in a week is already more than he's accomplished in a lifetime. Chase Clout? Look up how that works. I got 60 million views on my channel. I know Paul and support his channel so what's to chase? The Carruthers Cult has got to be the saddest group in martial arts next to Ashida Kim and George Dillman followers. Now about that sparring footage or you just going to keep pushing the goal post?

Bruce said Ted had NO killer instinct . Like Jesse , afraid of any confrontation. Ted also changed the entire curriculum of what Bruce Lee taught .

So what about Dan Inosanto? Did he change the curriculum too?

@@BruceLeeManMythLegend hmmm…. Ok. I can hear burgers being munched on the sidelines. 🍔🥤🍟 Was this shot in Oklahoma?
He’s talking about the dangers of not knowing how to deal with grapplers/wrestlers. There is a longer clip with sound I posted a few days back. Obviously a good wrestler would close the distance more explosively and would have the advantage. This is basic training here and a warning from Ted Wong about good shooters/wrestlers. 0:13 (Framing) 0:22 (Sprawling Hips Back And Turning 45° )
Bruce wasnt a fighter. So no.
Such haters. While you’re asking about the 15 elements, the certifications and jab comparisons ; Paul is doing it in less than 5 seconds. Would you let him hit you with it?
The question I asked about the 15 or so individual elements in the straight lead was not a criticism of Paul. Instead it was for the people who are criticising him. Personally I am grateful for him taking the time to share these video with us.🙏🏻
@@jwfloating-world Apologies
@@XavierJustice-is2or Thank you Sir. Ted Wong said once it took him 6 months to learn the straight lead. But 20 years to refine it. And he learnt it directly from Bruce. So for us plebs its going to take a lot longer.👍🏻
@@jwfloating-world It’s not that complicated either. It doesn’t take 15 elements to train it physically. Just hit moving targets fast, explosively and with accuracy and you’ll be good
@@jwfloating-world I would say Paul Bax has had a unique and objective view of Bruce Lee’s art due to all the interviews he’s conducted.
No offense but that’s a southpaw stance off balance no defense right jab not a straight right hand. Wrong foot in front. And if u can box and are not taking a nap u Step peacefully to the left (his right) and unload a left hook. Kind of like a check hook but easier. Then zzzz . There’s no defense from there . Look where his right hand is. Weight distribution. U step left and u can literally let go with full force and know he can’t hit u back. Not good to practice like that in my opinion. Bad habits. That’s just me. Easy to critique from here but that’s what a boxer would see the instant that got thrown. I think!?
Well, you have to consider what we were doing. The art is Jeet Kune Do, thus most practitioners put their strong side forward. We were throwing what is known as a Straight Lead. That was it. We were not doing any combinations. But, you make some great points and I appreciate the insights.
The best Bruce Lee student ever.
Build that wall!
Yours was better 😄
