The drop looks insane! It probably isn't the most comfortable, but I'm sure you get some crazy airtime.

I 100% agree! If Alton Towers was running at its best with brilliant ride availability, operations and closing times, it would easily be better than Thorpe. It’s just going through a rough period at the moment. If the Skyride was open that would help too, as walking wouldn’t be so much of a concern.

Thorpe Park has been fantastic in the 2024 season. Hyperia is just incredible!

But Alton does need to improve on flat rides, which hopefully will be their focus next year. At least we’re getting Project Ocean this year (hopefully this year). And they need to improve on ride availability especially with the main thrill rides. I also think they could do with a water coaster in Mutiny Bay or even a motorbike or winged coaster in Katanga canyon themed to birds and eagles that could introduce kids to inversions like the Sky Lion coaster in Germany’s LegoLand. Maybe Project Horizon can be something like that, and the area could improve the flat ride problem

I can totally agree with your point about Alton Towers feeling more magical. I remember when visiting for the first time how much of an adventure it felt walking to the different coasters and exploring the themed areas. As you said, Thorpe is too open to create the same feeling. As you drive into the car park, you can practically already see all of the coasters! Alton Towers does have a better range of events for kids, and a Christmas event is something that Thorpe Park is missing, though as the park is catering for teens and young adults it is less necessary. The water park at Alton Towers is miles better than the beach at Thorpe Park. I didn't compare them in the video because the splash landings water park feels like a completely different attraction to the beach at Thorpe.

Project Ocean is definitely a step in the right direction! Hopefully it is the start of more thrilling flat rides at the park. Fingers crossed ride availability improves! It's such a shame when multiple of the major coasters are down at the same time. A motorbike in Katanga canyon would be awesome! It could really work well with the landscaping of the area.

@@ThrillsandForces As long as the parks don’t get worse (not that they are bad), I’ll be happy Maybe Universal’s UK park that’s planned will encourage Merlin to fix all the operation problems

@@MrGamerDoesVids Universal should hopefully force Merlin to improve on their weaknesses. It will be good to have some competition!

@@adamkim4484 I agree! Nemesis has better theming and a more creative layout than Inferno. Stealth has a better launch and more airtime than Rita. The Smiler is smoother, and has a more unique layout than Saw.

I can see why you prefer Alton Towers as it does have a charming atmosphere with the towers and the beautiful gardens. The theming is also amazing, especially around Forbidden Valley!

The Smiler is a brilliant coaster! I personally don’t find it to be on the same level as Hyperia, but I can totally see why people do.

its so scary, I think I almost fell out! had to calm myself down with hyperia, and I was still traumatized!

@@jackzc09I think that’s the main factor! I do have a soft spot for Thorpe Park as it is my home park, but my favourite park is easily Phantasialand for its theming and amazing atmosphere.

.Towers is a whole lot further but Thorpe is very close yet I still prefer towers

Thanks a lot! Ride availability has been a struggle at Alton Towers this year. Hopefully 2025 will be a stronger season for the park, with both the Skyride and Hex back open!

Hyperia has been a game changer for Thorpe! It’s such a great coaster for the park.

Thorpe park definitely has the better thrill attractions, but Alton Towers is the nicer theme park!

It has definitely had the stronger 2024 season with the brilliant operations, fresh looking areas and Hyperia!

Can I just ask you likely haven't riden wicker man of nemesis reborn cause you can't say Atkins rides are rough it's got the best themed stuff to rethink mate

@@exazedVR they aren’t rough but wicker man is definitely shaky and reborn has a weird vibration on the last turn. Compare that with the swarm which is glossy smooth and probably smoothest in the UK

@@exazedVR i've been on nemesis reborn. It is comparably smooth, but you'd still get a bit of head banging if you don't brace yourself properly. I wasn't talking about Nemesis Reborn when I said the roller coasters were rough. I was talking about Rita and the Smiler Alright I haven't been on Wickerman yet, but even if it has the smoothest experience in the UK, the rougher coasters at the park will still bring it down

@@AmNotNuclear Those are some great points! It is much easier to get around Thorpe Park, it has a better collection of thrill rides, and the food is generally cheaper.

Alton Towers does have a very special atmosphere! It is definitely the better THEME park. They just need to improve their ride availability and get more thrilling flat rides. SW9 is an intriguing one; I think your right with it being a family coaster. A thrill coaster just wouldn't be able to fit in the space!

Thorpe Park actually has chain restaurants such as KFC while having other food stalls while Alton Towers doesn't have any chain restaurants so you have to blow £15 at an overpriced stall or eat in the pizza and pasta buffet (which is also overpriced because there is no way you can eat more than a plate of pasta or half a pizza). The rollercoaster restaurant is nice, but there are ones in Beijing or Shanghai that are much better.

@@AmNotNuclear ohh, I thought he meant restaurant as in dinner restaurants. I always class chains like KFC as fast food places and not restaurants.

@bubbles2428 ahh I see what you mean. I classify restaurants in theme parks as any indoor venue where you can eat (fast food or not). Fancy dining is a bit unusual in theme parks so I group fast food and fancy dining together in one category

I’d say Rollercoaster Restaurant and Thorpe Park’s KFC are on the same level, that KFC there has so much theming and Rollercoaster Restaurant has lots of history and facts of the rides

I would love to do one for Blackpool Pleasure Beach but I haven't been able to make it out to the park yet. Once I have visited, I can definitely do a Pleasure Beach edition!

The views at the front are brilliant, especially of Big Bob!

I have seen it swaying before too. It's such an uncomfortable end to the ride!!

Flying Fish does pull some serious g-forces!

Mumbo Jumbo has a brilliant first drop! It would easily be on this list if the coaster had lap bars, as you would get way more airtime when going down the drop!

U don’t get that because the shoulder bar isn’t really a shoulder restraint you can slip out if you try but that’s just my opinion

Saw does have a great drop!

The fact the brakes don't slow you down is quite funny, as you do get a good pop of airtime of the mid-course! I love the drop on Saw too, it's just a shame it's so rough at the bottom of it.

On Hyperia, the brakes kill a little bit of the pacing towards the end of the coaster. However, I would love it if Saw slowed down more on its mid-course brakes, as it is very uncomfortable going through the final inversion at the speed it takes!

The Swarm is probably the best thrill coaster to start with. It's very smooth and not too intense!

It definitely gets too much hate. If it was in a smaller park like Flamingo Land, it would be one of their best rides!
