I’ll add to my comment…… this man is the most important influence on British music than all your fancy,classical,and especially Jazz musicians,who,mostly didn’t make the average kid want to make music !

As a 13 year old in London at this time,to me,Lonnie Donegan was ,compared to the cheesy middle of the road British singers of the time, a fucking visitor from outer space ! He was the reason I begged for a guitar, and now ,as an 80 year old, can look back on a life,and career, in music ,which goes on ,even today. Thank you Lonnie, for leading all us future guitar based musicians, on a path to fun and satisfaction!

This man should have a posthumous knighthood. More than anyone else, he was responsible for the breakout of British music into the world and for it to become so dominent in so many fields. He inspired so many wannabees to learn the guitar, get together with a few mates and do their thing on a stage culminating in the 60's American Invasion by British acts that changed the whole direction of popular music. They all acknowledge their debt to Lonnie. This performance is a good example of the driving raw energy that put him at the top of the tree in the Britskiffle genre.
