Prendre en compte la correction de longitude
Dear sir, I live in small village on 43.28N & 16.87 E and would like to educate 5 of my grandchildren, as well as to give several sundials as a gift for our squares as turist atraction. So my question is, do you give advice how to make EOT and longitude adjustment for given location if I buy Shadows Pro version? I have no experience with this and need appropriate help while making sundials of diferent types.
I recommend that you start with the freeware version and read the user manual. Then, later you can buy a Shadows Pro version. The user manual will help you understand sundials and their construction.
Always wanted to know about sundials and with this video graphics I can understand better. ( Always puzzled me how a sundial worked with an analemma positioning on old Sal!) 😮
Astrolabe is a good example that the stars are still in the same. Place. They wear back in the day So much for and expanding universe!
Nice geocentric instruments
The mathematically inclined might like to note that the azimuth circles, and almucantar circles on a latitude plate, form a coaxial system.
this device takes account of how we process through our globes (eyes) the plane of existence. stop insulting their intelligence...
Excellent narration! What a brilliant voice.
Merci. 🎅
Great! Thanks. I made a video showing the travell of shadow in a sundial > ruclips.net/video/LV2ETmnsqyA/видео.htmlsi=4Akqakrrxsu7LGrg
I just saw this video after 2 weeks of learning to make an astrolabe. Fascinating isn't it? 😊❤ Great video
It also includes an accurate explanation of the fact that the design is based on the stereographic projection, a key idea in make the astrolabe a possible device to manufacture by the standards of the time, as it meant that it relied only on constructing straight lines and circles.
Hey! Thanks for featuring my diptych!
This has to be chatgpt!
This video is awesome. Exactly what is needed for a basic understanding of sundials.
Hello François Blateyron. First of all I want to congratulate you for your work in sundials and others astronomical devices. Congratulations for your Shadows Software too. I have learn so much with your work, and now I am a sundial and astrolabe designer too. I really enjoyed Shadows. I would like that many other people join to this exciting world. I wish your efford would be useful to bring the humanity some of the knowledge it need. Thank you again.
Thank you very much Luis. Do not hesitate to spread the word around you and bring new users to Shadows Pro. 🙂
I really wanted to watch this, but I can't stand the robo voice. Use a real human please.
Who was the inventor of this Astrolabe?
Ancient Indian Rishi
@@goldenmishra3148 It’s not known They say a lot of diferente people created it But I can’t see any human figuring out the workings It’s. Of divine origin That knows the Heaven’s Well . Maybe from a fallen Angel or not You will definitely find out on your judgment day . I can hardly wait. What a wonderful day
@@moontemple3027 Dont know who made the first astrolobe! That gave the knowledge of a simple divice to make once you know how Its sed it has close to a1000 uses But they are not all difined. Most things are easily understude when. You have some one that knows to show you

This video was a great resource while preparing a lesson and tutorial on Sundials. I appreciate the thorough research and the software you have developed.
مزولة 😍 I'm planning to get the pro version late December ان شاء الله
Is that for all location on hte eatrh?
Yes, the shadow will always follow a straight line at the equinox regardless of the location, but the distance of the line from the style will vary.
I like to design sundials and 3D print them. I often use Shadows first for the basic layout. Is there any way to import a 3D model into Shadows Pro to use the 3D view for checking the shadows and design?
The 3D display is for sundials made within Shadows. You can export them to OBJ format to further process them in another software, but you cannot import 3D models from outside.
Hiid
Excellent work! I'll try this later. No experience with sundials other than finding it fascinating. I live at 58 degree lat, and only have southwest facing windows. I was thinking putting up a vertical sundial in one window. Or a small horizontal one on the window sill. What kind of sundial would you recommend?
Thanks. A vertical declining sundial will be perfect, with its interesting line network. You can easily simulate it in Shadows (even the free version).
Really nice 👍
I didn't understand why the cardinal directions where inverted ,can you explain?
It's a projection of the sphere on a plane, so it's like seeing the sphere from outside, not inside.

Does anyone know who created the Astrolabe during the Renaissance?
The astrolabe was created way before the Renaissance. However, it spread across Europe during the Renaissance.
Al-ʻIjliyyah bint al-ʻIjliyy.
Some said it was invented/created by a woman but that theory was debunked.....or was it?
@@shadowspro-sundials Which country was the first to create this device?
@@dannwan8537 Difficult to say but probably around the eastern part of Mediterranean see.

This was excellent, I could put my own location in as it wasn't there and I've got a great print out to try. Thank you so much.
Belle vidéo ^^ merci :)✨
j'ai riiiien compris
Excellent Video, clear, detailed, informative and understandable. Congratulations. I am impressed. I hold a Masters in Physics/Astronomy (Astrophysics). I, really, admire the technical approach and competence of early Muslim Science: this instrument, making and using it in the 8th century ...(775 AD). It was the GPS of that day ... They managed to reach China via the Malabar Coast, Bay of Bengal, Malaysia / Indonesia to China. They sailed to the Atlantic via the Mediterranean and Indian Ocean to Madagascar. Their calculations of the night sky is very impressive. Pity al Ghazali messed it up by making Islam a fatalistic and dogmatic religion.
From recent studies, blaming alghazali is quite simplistic view The main reason of stagnants in muslim academia is due to reducing to non-arabic ruler patronizing knowledge The ottoman rules were pretty much militaristic and did not promote knowledge as the previous arab rulers like in spain Seljuks whom are turk themselves while not focus in knowledge gives much leeway to the persian in governance, hence the knowledge culture spread... Until the mongol comes Researching of knowledges costs tons of money, such golden age can only happen when the ruler is die-hard fan of ancient knowledge like the caliph in baghdad and amir in andalus
With portuguese and spain capturing every muslim ports in india and southeast asia, the flow of money and trades to egypt(the last center of muslim academics) dwindles. It weaken egypt economically and was captured by ottoman. The age of exploration add more salts to the wound of mongol invasion towards muslim economically. So yeah, more money means more knowledge There's reason why renaissance starts in italy where venice and genoese control the spice trades to europe
You had me until the last idiotic statement.
Sorry, it is pronounced as al aster laab ٱلأَسْطُرلاب ἀστρολάβος. Do you not think it is about time Americans become a little educated?
Says the guy calling out a Text-To-Speech computer voice on Arabic/Greek pronounciation...
@@saintbrush4398 As it happens, I do read Arabic and Greek. I did my Greek and Latin at my school. As Science students at the University, we were required to take two, non credit, Non Science subjects. I chose Arabic / Hebrew and Comparative Religions. My parents were Atheists. I am a Non Believer.
"al aster laab" ? I`ve watched quite a few videos on this instrument now from many different sources of nationality and no one has ever mispronounced it the way you think it should be said. There`s an "e" on the end of the word. I can`t be bothered explaining it now but if you`re going to accuse someone of bad education, make sure you know what the fcuk you are talking about first. I don`t, but it doesn`t matter.....because I too am a non believer.....especially in human beings!
That might be the Arabic name for the instrument but in English it has been called an Astrolabe since 1390. Academic consensus is the instrument is almost universally known as a "star-taker" in whatever language you prefer, deriving that from the Greek name used by the originators of the instrument, that you quoted yourself, which is romanized to 'astrolábos'.
@@saintbrush4398 That's instant karma for my listening.
This is great. Thank you for providing it.
