Q&A with a Solicitor Apprentice | My Legal Career
Feel free to comment any further questions below and I’ll get back to you!
I’m a fourth year Level 7 Solicitor Apprentice working within an international law firm. I’m really passionate about raising apprenticeship awareness, showing life as a junior lawyer and making the legal industry more accessible - hence creating the My Legal Career platform!
I hope you find this slightly more relaxed Q&A interesting. Let me know in the comments if there’s any particular content you want to see from me! It’s slightly difficult being consistent with RUclips alongside studying and a full-time job but I’m trying!

What company do you work for? I’m looking for a company who offers solicitor apprenticeships!
I'm doing my LLB rn UOL online. I'm extremely handsome. Lets get married no bs.
How do you find solicitor apprenticeships ? x
Bro this sounds amazing imma totally do this

I would like to ask you a question: How much does an Uber from the city center after a night out cost, approximately £20? But why would you pay for it when my neighbor next door gives free moustache rides all day?
The big topic today is the UK's budget 2024. It's five hours of parliamentary hearing. Say, do you have any popcorn? Would you like to watch it together with me? Every time someone mentions 'Labour,' I'll give you a kiss. And every time someone talks about 'British hardworking people,' you take off one of your clothes!
What stands out most about her is her ability to confront challenges with unwavering resolve. Instead of allowing setbacks to define her, she uses them as opportunities for growth and self-discovery. Her resilience in the face of adversity serves as a reminder that no obstacle is insurmountable with the right mindset and determination. Moreover, she possesses a rare gift for lifting others up. Whether through her words of encouragement, acts of kindness, or simply by being a beacon of positivity, she has a profound impact on those around her. Her generosity knows no bounds, and she is always ready to extend a helping hand to those in need. Yet, what truly inspires me about her is her authenticity. She remains true to herself and her values, unswayed by external pressures or expectations. Her genuine nature serves as a guiding light, encouraging others to embrace their uniqueness and live authentically - the Norwegian singer Sigrid. I guess this girl is doing great in this video! What is it - legal apprenticeships? I mean, we've all been there, grinding, pushing past 9 to 5, or not yet?
She is an employee with a solicitor firm but is still a law student in her final year. As lawyers charge hourly rates up to $500 per hour ; they retain junior professional staff and still charge the client 250 per hour as essentially Clerks. That is an apprentice to a trade . When they get their law degree they often are given further employment in the firm. Civil Litigation is a fancy term for suing people; often insurance companies or other legal entities for: " damages. " These damages are often termed their Plaintiff Compensation. Might be big car accident; slip / fall at work; medical negligent doctor ; public Liability etc etc The girl is very bright ; articultate and hard working lass. They all are -- its a job that requires a lot of effort working to prove yourself and asset to the company. It's all about making billable hours and clocking up time to charge the large fees / and disbursements. They expect you to do a lot of hours.
@@michaelburr8780 It might have been yesterday that there was a guidance for legal aid, where every lawyer would need to work about 50 hours for a court in Bristol or other areas. However, what we are looking to suggest is that perhaps it would make more sense later. Having a business where the person in this video won’t exchange time for money or work towards exchanging things like knowledge would be the best option going forward-not time for money, but knowledge!
I would like to plead the Fifth, your honor! I would like to take this lovely young lady on a date night and play chess, making some slick moves. But being too upfront, too forward - no, she's not giving me a hard time, it's her pace! I would like to stumble once or twice, reaching out for things I can have, but where's the fun in it? As I was saying, Your Honor, this lady has provoked me with her big, beautiful eyes. One might find oneself blurting out, 'I like milk in my coffee!' But that's beside the point, Your Honor. I do like milk! As I was saying, Your Honor, this lady has provoked me with her big, beautiful eyes. One might find oneself blurting out, 'I like milk in my coffee!' But morning would come, bringing with it as many good things that are here to stay. Hence, let's create unforgettable uncomfortable experiences to remember.
Would you ever regret sleeping with that lovely lady from the confectionery shop who has big eyes? She always looks you up and down when addressing you, kisses you, and leaves in the morning without saying anything. What a derogatory term to use - slut - I mean I love you! More than anything, on your knees begging for more - but, baby, we should set some ground rules!
I got lost right where you've been talking about how hard it is to follow the rules. Stay with me; rules are just another way to find ourselves stuck from our real passions. I can imagine you leaning over that sticky bed, looking back at me with your black stockings. Safe word? Aluminum! Rules - don't break them, lay them down, and make people follow the rules! Ask them to speed it up or slow it down. Let's take our time! Your parents' room, coffee? You're teaching me some things about choosing to remain silent, and may I approach the beach?
Roses red, violets blue, Sun and moon, always in view. In your eyes, I see what's true, What we could do, are you free on Friday too? Let's shine like a disco ball, just me and you, To a bond so strong, so real, so true.
Black ice, you mean black guys? I mean, size does not matter. We're trying to keep up with Caucasian white guys, but can you really match that energy? I mean, the loose, carefree energy of being slow? Since we are on the topic of law - white guys to settle with until the end, while black guys to throw under the double-decker bus! what we were where on about? Taking slavery statues down in Bristol?
snow ball - You mean like making a compliment to a pretty lady and hoping you will find her on all fours with leather bear-covering clothing, looking at you with those thick glasses. What are we talking about? As professionals, we all have obligations, just before anxiety kicks in. I mean coffee do you like it?
Which law firm do you work for?
Aye lit vibe
Good job I wish you all the best and success
You look good
Fainaly I found you❤❤
Hi, so basically lets say I become a qualified solicitor through apprenticeship and then I want to become a barrister, Can I do that?
Hey! I’m a mature student with three kids considering an apprenticeship, what are the hours like? For both work and study I mean. Would this be feasible for someone in my position?
You need good gcses and good A levels
It's definitely going to be very demanding, depending on the ages of your kids, but it's feasible.
@@yorukaadams940 thank you for replying 😌
Hello, is there anyone who will guide me how to become solicitor in uk. It would be very very helpful for me. Please..
Hii ! You need to get an LLB degree or a GDL law conversion degree if you already have another degree. Look up university websites for law degrees, but they will be quite expensive. Then you need to take the SQE examinations to become a solicitor in the UK. Hope this helps and good luck!!
@@greengoats1529 thank you so much for ur guidance. 🙏 But i have already done my LLB from india and i am registered advocate there. So now what can be the procedure? Please
@@gaganssingh9148 No worries Sir! From September 2021, lawyers from abroad and overseas who wish to qualify in England and Wales can sit the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE). After passing this exam, you can be a qualified solicitor. Best wishes! 😄
6:40 So it takes 6 years to qualify in the uni route? How long for apprenticeship, and is it equal?
it takes 6 years aswell
@@afrospider no I think it takes 8 through the apprenticeship, because apprenticeship doesn’t include training contract I think
@@jackwarren9898 the apprenticeship does include the raining contract - 4 years apprenticeship, 2 years traineeship
4:08 The reason I'm considering a degree apprenticeship is because my boss has no time for me (junior employee) but plenty for his new apprentice...
5:32 9:05
I've been told that you can complete a 1 year conversion degree following an unrelated degree... is this equal to that?
Do you get funding if you already have a degree?
Do you get a choice of modules? There has to be some breadth in law.

Well said and it's great that you know you own mind. These things will help you greatly in your life and career. Good luck.
How can I get into an apprenticeship with zero knowledge about law 😂
If this isn’t too personal before you started the apprenticeship did you live in london before and do you think without uni loans it’s possible to live in london and complete this apprenticeship
If you're willing to sleep in a room within a shared house and eat from food banks then probably. Otherwise you'd need help.
Do you mind sharing your cv or template for writing one? I’m struggling receiving support for this and am really interested in applying to a legal apprenticeship
Hyyy nice videos i want to ask if you can get an apprenticeship if you are an intenational student
Hi! Could you please explain the different types of solicitor? I’m considering an apprenticeship in this career but how does it branch out into different sectors. For example solicitors that deal with victims of crime vs employment solicitors. Could you just explain a bit more about that and the different options available please?
Please upload videos for international students because international students are like new born babies. They need true information
do you ever fall in love with you're subscriber ?
Hiya may I ask what gcse and alevels did you do and what requirements did you need to do the solicitor apprentice?
Considering you started after your a levels, this is a degree apprenticeship right?
As someone who is doing an apprenticeship in public health it’s great to see how other sectors go about delivering their apprenticeships.
hi i know i’m late sorry but i was wondering what age did you start at xx
17! X
@@MyLegalCareer wth how
@@miniganguly6072Wdym how? U start L3 or L4 at 17 even 16 in the U.K.
How have you made friends from different backgrounds (who aren’t from work) without uni? I feel like it’s such a useful way to build strong relationships with people all over the country and world
As someone who is currently doing an apprenticeship as a courthouse secretary, I have so much respect for the people actually dealing with the law/legal part of the cases. Keep up the good work! :)
Thank you!
