Historybounding Gardening Dress | Inspired by a Viking Apron Dress
My little one LOVES to spend time outside so I decided to take up gardening, but I still want to enjoy the clothes when working outside and may get very dirty. Time to make a special purpose dress for gardening.

    I absolutely love the idea of making historical garments that can also be used in an everyday wardrobe! And the medieval age is perfect for that :)

      Oh, I didn't mention that in the video. Sorry about that. I usually use between a 0.9mm - 2.75mm when I use cotton. Judging by my tension and the results I would guess either a 1.5mm or 2.mm. It all depends on your tension and the look you want to get. My mother always uses a 1mm hook, but I often get too tight with my tension and it becomes impossible to work.

    No favourites considering I don't think I've tried a granny square since my great aunts showed me how to in the 60's! I have tried a few things since then but I'm still pretending that I don't have a new craft.... Can it be a new craft if you don't have to buy anything?

    • @carriescostumescrochet
      @carriescostumescrochet 3 месяца назад

      Oh sure. New can be part of your point of view. I consider myself a 'new' knitter even though I learned a bit as a kid and know how to cast on, knit, pearl, but I have to look up how to cast off, every, single, time.

    If your combinations are going under the corset, as you seem to intend, make that first. Also, don't add the front ruffles to the bodice. They will get in the way under the corset, and were not as much of a thing by the 19teens. I've not done this corset pattern, although I have done an earlier period TV corset and was very happy with it. I have made the chemese, and a slightly modified version of the drawers, and was very happy with the pattern.

  • @robintheparttimesewer6798
    @robintheparttimesewer6798 3 месяца назад

    I'm leaning towards the corset first. The underwear should be easier and have a lot of places one could cut corners even doing a mock up. While doing a wearable mock is possible with a corset it from what I've seen can take longer to get there. The corset has more technical challenges and won't be able to survive a wardrobe malfunction where as the underwear can still serve with wonky seams. So yeah I would do the corset first. Or at least to the wearable mock up stage. That all said you know you best...
