This was not basic enough for me. Looking for a beginner overview. He gets technical pretty quick and skips around all over without really explaining how to get started. Would be useful if you already knew a lot about beat making. Not a good place to start if you are just starting out. Kind of discouraging actually.
Wait. I’ve had my Mpc mini for almost a decade. I can hook it up to my iPhone!? Next you’ll be telling me I can connect it to Ableton Link! 😂
you saved my life!!!!
Have the same akai but wont connect to ipad? Whats the deal with that?
Nice
good lord..cut the dang metronome off after you get a song going..it played the whole time and bout drove me nuts lmao..nice tune though!!
Coooool beat
Whath is you app from yours AKAI PRO
Great Tutorial! - Based on this I'm thinking PI would do a better job than Auto Align to maintain phase coherency across the whole track when layering drum samples over raw drum tracks? I use Auto Align for live drums- works great - However I'm wondering if the phase relationship changes slightly from hit to hit when blending a sample with live snare (using Trigger in my case) Some hits work better with different alignment settings... As a result I'm thinking the time alignment for sample layering is best on a 'hit by hit' basis, the entire song analysed by the plug in as opposed to Auto Align that works its magic based on a small portion of the song in order to do it's time alignment thing. Super curious as to your thoughts on this!
Pi works in real time as the mix plays along. One can use both, as I do, for the bast results.
Have Pi turned on is a big difference. Wow.
It's like watching...me
Who's "you" after all 😉

same here
where did you buy your keyboard?
It’s an Akai MPK3. You can find them on Amazon for around $120
Wgat did you press going from changing the swing to the note editing
Excelett
cool beats, could you list your cable connections. thanks
Does the knobs in the controller work with GarageBand iPad?
yes they do work.
@@9308155Woody Hey bro can i ask you ? I have an AKAI MPK MINI and I connected it with my iPad to GarageBand but I don't know how to configure the pads and the controllers you can help me ?
@@9308155Woody really?, how do that?
How do you do that one little section and then stretch it out to continuously play the beat? When I try to copy and paste the section it makes the beat off when it switches to the new section I pasted. It looks like you just do like 5 seconds of a beat then hit something just to stretch it for a longer time. I’m sorry I’m new to this and can’t figure out how to just continuously loop a little section of a beat I made.
Just tap on what you recorded and hit loop and then go to to settings to quantize it.
But it has to be in either 2 ,4 or 8 bars
trash
More of this please.
PLEASE BRING THIS BACKKKK
Tyler the creator shit. Im down with this
I have a full size keyboard and looking at getting a MIDI controller. Seeing the AKAI work with GB just helped me out a lot. Thank you for this!!
this is so underrated
Cool workflow
Thanks - going to keep with this workflow for a while. Might even add a narration in future :)
dang!! You got an Akai!? Is that new? I was looking at getting one
Yep - was cheap, and pretty nice to use. That said Arturia and Alesis have nice ones too
Nice organ sound at around 19:04
Yep - latest version of Garageband added a ton of keyboards so going through trying to use some of them :)
Dammit, I missed this
Ha! sorry, did it on the spur of the moment... :)
I liked this. Sounds more Reggie then DnB but good effort 😃
Its def drum and bass mate Not jump up but its definitely not reggae Research a bit about sub genres
@@georgeespley9177 I do, I just got the feeling that it sounds more like reggae
This video is fire
the 10 minutes idea is a really cool challenge, but I'm impressed that you came up with this result in just 40 minutes! You've gotten really good since I first saw you play music on stream all those years ago. (going to check out this full version on SC now)
Whats the process for importing your own sounds/loops/beats? is there a specific file type or format, length type etc?
Short and sweet. I never think about phase when layering samples of the same instrument. Interesting to hear the difference it makes to the mix. Thanks Ben :)
doesn't work with me nor weith dropbox nor with amazondrive
Thank you!
I just want to know how to actually export these midi files, and put them to use on my computer. I have an iPhone, and I really love this app since I don't have a good drum kit, and the quality of this is really good. But maybe I'm doing something wrong. What's the best way to have the sound files on my laptop?
This is super helpful. Thank you for the good explanation and thank you Korg for offering the app for free during this month!
Thank u! U really helped out gave you a thumbs up!
Very Basic?? Very bloody useful!!! Great deconstruction of what's going on and nice calm delivery. Noise gate to hekp the commentary but you know this already. Many thanks.
Hi I’m doing my project on an iPhone...anyway I tap the loop button and it pulls up this thing at the bottom that says browse items from the files app. I tap on that and it take me to this screen with Dropbox, cloud drive and other options but when I try to drag and drop the mp3 file it doesn’t work...any advice?(ps loved the vid!😁)
Hi James, I've just had a look on my iPhone (iPhone X running latest iOS 12.0.1, GarageBand ver 2.3.1) and when I tap "browse files from the files app" it takes me to a screen with a "location" button at the top left. Then I tap Dropbox and navigate through till I find a file I want. When I tap that file, it downloads it to the phone and returns back to the initial "Apple Loops, Files, Music" page, showing the file I just downloaded. I'm guessing you went through all this process. When I drag and drop though it works fine. I press and hold to drag, move to the left a bit and it shows the track section and I drop it on to the track that has a microphone. The only time it doesn't work is if I try to drop it onto a MIDI instrument track (in this case, a strings track with MIDI in it). Did this process help? if not it is likely a permissions issue between GB and Dropbox or something equally less musical! Thanks, Fog.
Tokyo Digital Crew thank you so much!
I thought you whispered only on your vlogs. Really disturbing.
This I’m pretty sure is outdated...
TheSeveredAction you are correct. This video is from 2016 and iMaschine and Garage band have both had some fairly significant changes since then. I need to get round to doing an updated video :) Cheers, Fogheart
Tokyo Digital Crew please do
Exactly what I needed. Thanks!
Can you import from GarageBand into Imachine?
pleasure tutorial. Thanks for That!
