why no a9x toeana australias best muscle car
Don’t tell me Trump Or That old SKALLY WAG Biden have paid you lot off hey ?? 😂😂 Kidding guys 😂😂 But yeeeaahhh fair enough 🙄 Good decision on the Mustang, I never OBVIOUSLY never have nor will drive on. But she looks beautiful. The blue prints for two styles of car MADE BY FORD OF COURSE 🇦🇺🇦🇺👍😁 But without that car the industry in both Nations would have been different 100%. That very reason it’s beautiful.. Hope my G8 Fairlane BF 156 made. Gets a small bit of attention especially with her history. And her condition with 12,000 kms she is to me a special part of history. Nothing like any predecessors before 😂😂 no chance. But she sweet. And me XC Falcon Panel Van the classic Sundowner.❤️❤️🇦🇺🇦🇺 Cool Show !!
1969 HT Manaro should be comparable to the Chevrolet Nova
Bathurst vs Laguna. Holden (Murphy's) vs Saleen Mustang
There’s no way, no way those pieces of shit could catch a Charger.
Here’s your answer. The world knows our cars. Only Aussies know their 4 doors.
Seeing that th "New" cars were from 2012 I'm guessing that's when this was made. But I also get the feeling that they intentionally put the From 30 2012 up against the Holden 2012 so they would have the better car for the segment. Because they seemed to go out if their way to match up the other cars quite well for the most part, But then they just dropped it all and paired the Holden (Chevy of Aussie Land) against a inferior Ford instead of putting it up against the EXACT Match of the Pontiac G8 GXP 6 Speed Manual with 402 HP and 401 Ft-lbs Torque. It's almost the same car. (Almost LOL). Then there was the Cadillac CTS-V with identical specs or even the Camaro ZL1 Let alone the Corvette (Of course that wouldn't be allowed in this contest lol). Anyway great fun and I learned a lot about Aussie Muscle too! Thanks.
As far as the run of the mill more common versions, the Camaro had a 350 sbc where the common Pontiac Firebird had a Pontiac 400 which is a much better engine with the limited 3 and 4 speed transmissions in street cars, now the SBC had unlimited mods however in the day the Pontiac 400 was probably easier to get big power from or a 428/455 could easily be slotted in it's place, it's a much bigger undertaking to swap a 396/402/427/454 into a SBC Camaro.
The only thing that keeps the Aussie cars down is they never got the big blocks in anything accept some fullsize Mopar sedans that got the 350, 361 and 383 low deck B block. Holden Monaros got 327 and 350 SBC, Ford got the 351w and 351c, Charger got the 340 and 360 LA which were rated less power than the 265ci Hemi 6. The American muscle cars got 383, 390, 396, 400, 402, 426, 427, 428, 429, 440, 454, 455, 460 big block V8s. Maybe they weren't as high strung than the small blocks but, they could easily be modified to be. I love the Australian cars they look cool to me. I have owned later Holden Monaro(Pontiac GTO), Holden Caprice(Chevrolet Caprice PPV) and Holden Commodore (Chevrolet SS) with LS1, L77 and LS3 engines.
Big blocks do not go around corners. A big block is never going to win Bathurst.
@@martinsmallwood9605- agree. At that time the predominant race series in the US were NASCAR and Drag racing. This was the home territory of the various big blocks. Then you had Trans Am and that’s where the 5 liters were used in the US because the races were on road courses and that was where the small bocks came into play. In Australia it was predominantly road racing and that drove the manufactures to the larger capacity small blocks. For me the Phase 3 will be my favorite. When one pulled up next to you at the lights you knew exactly what you were up against and chances were you were just going to see a rear bumper. A comparison of a 1970 Boss 302 Mustang and a Phase 3 would have been a good add to this video.
These 'experts' banging on how the Torino is just too big, it's huge etc etc, did these muppets not know there's hardly any difference between it and the XA size wise? It would destroy any XA GT! And in the end they marked the XA superior based on it's dash and door handles, fvck off, you're embarrassing yourselves!
Spot on commentary, only thought the XU1 may have got a comment
2011 I meant, not 2020.
I loved Australian V8 muscle cars from childhood until 2020 when I purchased a 2008 S5 V8 Audi Quattro. Game over. S5's pull 0.9 g force on a skid pan. They hang on to the road like a spider
They are even more unreliable
the 1964 Dodge Polara is better than a Mustang.
Chrysler Valiant 265 c.i HEMI 6 got better race results in New Zealand compared to Australian racers
Hay charger 🤘 all it needed was the 340 V8 and bigger brakes 👍
couldn't catch the quicker 265 semi HEMI, Quicker is better than Faster. Sure V8 sounded better but that's it. Slow down E49 Charger/Pacer, Wait for the V8's to finally catch up..
I believe there were discussions of bringing out an E55 after the E49. Could be wrong but I think it was going to be the 340 with some tuning bits from the US plus a 4 speed.
US has so many more cars that handle better on the track than the ones they chose.
Top video. Both cars and commentary.🎯
We got alot of over the top big stuff but you guys know the tech what i want the clleveland or a clevor in a nice little package falcon build why they didnt ship here and there kmaybe a little ship with the odds of chance of mistake you guys have the the 1000mile road to go on providing you dont have a prob excepyt storms that come atta no where or a damn walabee in the road id advice to curb that problem is to make irrigation tubs underthe road so wild life life and other most dangerous life is safe away from traffic make your own falcon or the fairmount package likeba fox design your crazy not too die in all that heat though man i see commercials and it looks to be hell on the body they should take and reboot the camel 1000over there in Australia Open to the general public the last unknown in the planet just be sure the locals can help with repairs if the need happens
Why they never buoilt a mercury over there in qweensland or Australia in a comet or montego or a built falcon /cougar
Mercury Cougar came back out when the unwanted 15 year old Canadian designed ford was introduce to Australia to be called the all new design for Australia with the most uglist car ever, Ford Falcon AU - The car that killed Ford Australia.
@@FallingFlying.What? The au was an all Australian design that was a good car but the design was 5 years ahead of what the market would buy and compared to the then vt Commodore, styling wise, was totally outclassed. This was corrected with the ba Falcon 4 years later with a more conservative design.
Maybe i was born on the wrong continent some american cars you see too much of and your thinking whats next on a way to build itwell theyer not because they overbuilt them and they suck i dont get your chargers with a blower and a decent big butt high reving small block
neither do most of us. when i was younger- they were just big overweight boats.we would get them, pull the engines, and Junk them.dukes of hazzard shows made them popular( and expensive)...
have to add- the aussie charger is awesome!! wish we had them here..
At least you all got talented owners of a car cultures we have amustang a dues youncan find a chargerorta venerable chevy corvette or a damn nova or a camero or a shovel.
Im all american but give me one of those falcons with a cleveland or a nice nat gas barra hell yes the barra in my truck and a nasty built cleveland in my coupe two door
21:10 ;where's xu1 and a9x 😂😂😂and I mean hot 1s?? Not standard 😂😂😂
No better looking side window has ever been put on a car than the XA.
Just to sum up the cars in the chase scene: Chrysler VJ Valiant Charger Peugeot 504 Wolseley 6/80 Ford XM Falcon All but one (the Peugeot) are six-cylinder cars.
All these cars are badass, but they missed out the Phase 3, it should off been in this video
should've
Valiant Charger body is beautiful but the front end, grille, is very ugly and doesn't belong with the rest of the body. I would build a grille mimicking the 1969 Dodge Charger.
Two problems with the Charger ( IMO), first they fart arsed around with the E39 - a 3 speed transmission. Secondly, they had terrible understeer - look at some of the old Bathurst races ( I think it was Doug Chivas) turning on the main straight…nearly pushed off the track. Love the motor - great sound, both mechanically and out the exhaust ( even better with dual exhaust).
My favorite Aussie Muscle Car is defiantly the Valiant Charger as well as the Aussie Ford Falcon
I say they're all pretty badass
No match up for the a9x ,?
Great show
Of course you're very biased. However, I won't hold it against you.
neither americans or Aussies could read this, without recieving a migraine.
Seeing a 69 Camaro with the steering wheel on the wrong side, just isn't right.
Its on the proper side
Love all the old Cars !..Whatever became of the Charger ?. Long dead..maybe...?
I use to live in America and Americans have a good knowledge of building cars and aussi is an American dodge charger rt assembled in Australia I mean I don't see we're your comparison is heading.
First comparison Ford vs Ford. Second comparison GM vs Chevy (GM). Third comparison Chrysler vs Plymouth (Chrysler). Fourth comparison Ford vs Ford. Fifth comparison Ford vs Holden (GM). So basically American vs American, American vs American flankers, and American vs American owned companies. 🤔
@jrwilliams7154 And see the Donut Media Yanks crying that these Awesome cars were never released in Yanky land even though the brands originated in Yanky land.
Anyone know where that last church scene was? Looks very much like my old all girls school, PCW in Windsor in Melbourne
Correct. It is the Presentation College in Windsor.
On looks alone? Out of the Americans I would have to say the Plymouth 'Cuda (the featured car by the way is a 1970 model), it's lines are smooth and flowing with minimal ornamentation or fussy details. Out of the Aussies? I am stuck between the XR Falcon GT and the VH Charger E49. If that Charger was painted in what Chrysler called at the time Mercury Silver it would be no contest, the Charger would be the one to have. They just looked drop dead gorgeous in that colour with the black outs. I drove one many years ago and I will never forget the experience. The breath taking acceleration and the sound of that Hemi as you wound it out through the gears is something I will never forget. Of course all of the cars featured here are stunning in their own ways and they each created their own legends as time passed. I didn't bother watching the Mustang versus the Commodore though. Real muscle cars have chrome bumpers. Thanks for posting this, very enjoyable to watch and enjoy.
Being a Ford guy my inclination is to like the Fords but you are correct about the Barracuda-Challenger being a very beautiful car!
0:45 - Brute horsepower turns oversteer weakness into an advantage! 0:52 - As close as you can come to the gutter without hitting it. 0:54 - The XK Falcon (with the XM front) gets around the double bend as fast as the 504. 0:59 - The Falcon is flying here! On cross-plies too. Love to know what engine they had in it. 2:09 - Nothing can beat a Charger in a drive-in with the torsion bars wound up!
The girl 9/10! The Valiants 10/10! The rest of it?......2!
Gee I like that scene with Chantal Contouri putting on her knickers in the car. Wow..
classic aussie muscle > classic american muscle change my goddamn mind
Though “better’ is debatable depending on criteria , I agree with you we did a whole lot with the comparatively small budget Aussie manufactures were given, this restriction is one of the main reasons behind why are muscle cars are so unique
@@activecamoflage6649 i like them more purely for the fact that they're more unique, exclusive, sensible and the steering wheel is on the correct side. my favorite is the 1978 ford falcon xc cobra
@@yeoldeseawitch I agree with you on all of those points, though I personally prefer the XA’s to the XC’s
@@activecamoflage6649 oh XA's are beautiful too. 4 doors or 2 doors?
@@yeoldeseawitch I’ve always been a fan of the long doors of the XA-XC Utes and Coupes, though I love the coupes the Utes are still attainable.
This chase scene tells me that the old Charger could be easily caught by a beat up XM Falcon, a Wolsley or a 504 Peugeot.
18:19:20VISIT BRASIL-SÃO PAULO.😄😄😄
Now that's a good looking Charger. Did they come with V8s or only 6 cylinders? I have 66 and 68 American Chargers but one of these with 340 would be cool.
265 hemi 6 ,318 hemi v8 mostly
@@illletmyselfout.8516 That would still be a fun car . they can't weigh more that my old 73 Dart
And 245 hemi 6cyl.
@@hemiorange7210 they came out with 318, 340 and 360. I own one with a 318, they’re a nice car to drive, 383 or 440 would have been nice but I guess Chrysler Australia were a bit more conservative
depends on the model. the model ran from 1971 to 1978 and came with 215, 245, 265, 318, 340 and 360 depending on configuration, and in 3 and 4 speed manual, and three speed automatic. and a street/race spec 265.
to Feiko Temme 1 - The British car is a 1950 Wolseley. Company founded 1901.
Single peggaz for days
Were there supposed to be 2 Chargers in the movie because the chased car was a VK and the one Alvin had was a VH....different grille and headlights.
That's right, 2 different Chargers in this clip. Would have to watch the whole movie to know why a VH made the later appearance.
@@jonipitchfork3954 - It's a simple continuity error, nothing more. The scenes were shot at different times, and Chrysler supplied a different car for the later scene.
Best car in this chase was the Ford Falcon...
