The five pillars of practical Results Based Management
RBM is easy and powerful if done right: 1. a relentless, laser-sharp focus on outcomes, 2. keep adapting based on outcomes, 3. involve stakeholders with quick feedback loops, 4. budget for outcomes and outputs, not activities, and 5. keep it simple, but not simplistic.

How to structure a good report

A good report follows a simple structure: start with what is most important, real changes for people (=outcomes), followed by what has been done to make this change happen (=outputs). Then add how much was invested in this change (=inputs). Find the 'magic' formula in this video.

Measuring = reducing uncertainty

Measurements are not always exact - but can be more or less precise. But after any measurement, we know more after measuring than we did before. Even an imprecise measurement will reduce our uncertainty to some degree. And depending on what we need, such an imprecise measure may just be good enough for a specific purpose.

A complete indicator must include a description of the indicator, a baseline with a date, a target with a date, a source, a frequency and who is responsible. Otherwise, it is not an indicator.
