Are Advance Directives for MAID A Good Thing?
What is an advance directive when it pertains to MAID (Medical Assistance in Dying?) How does it differ from a DNR (Do Not Resuscitate) Is it a simple decision to make? For many, the discussion around MAID and advance directives is uncomfortable. Canadian laws pertaining to MAID. After all, there’s a lot to consider.

With the Ninja NeverStick fry pan the word 'never" does definitely mean 5 years. I'd been using a 10.5-inch Ninja pan successfully until the nonstick coating finally gave out. Like you, I never used metal utensils or aerosol pan sprays and always washed the skillet by hand. How long did the pan last before my omelets started sticking to it? You guessed it. A few weeks over 5 years. It's like Ninja has a self-destruct timer on the pan. Nevertheless I'll probably buy another one. Good luck with yours.

Dementia is a horrible, horrible disease. I’ve worked in long-term care for years and can say that dementia is usually hardest on the family members not the actual patient. From the earlier onset yes the patient is usually aware that they are starting to forget, but the reality is that as the disease progresses, the patient usually forgets aspects of their life and are unaware of the decline. The big question is: at the end, is the patient the same person they were before? Probably one of the hardest things to make a decision for your future self, given your future self will be happy, but not of “sane” mind.

In the medical field patients who are terminal have wonderful palliative care to alleviate pain and suffering. To bring God into induced dying is so wrong, as we know we who accept Jesus as our Saviour are in the book of life. I would not want to age knowing that I willfully aided a person in dying. Imagine, Thursday at one pm you are to die, it’s just so evil.

I hear ya, Barry. I'm just beginning this journey and am finding the adapting and acceptance of the situation difficult at times. I'm living more with tremors and emotional upheavals than I am with balance and gait issues at this point, but who knows what tomorrow will bring. I find that having understanding people to talk to is helpful as I work toward contending with these changes in my life. There's online groups if there's none in your area. I also find it helpful to remind myself that some of the depression and apathy I feel at times is the result of both the disease and the medication and that, for me, things are not as devastating as I feel at times. Accepting that a cure is simply not available is difficult for sure. I wish you well and will keep you in my thoughts.

It is a nonsense to make CPP and OAS a taxable income !!!!!! As a CPP benefit I am collecting 577 $ every month and have to pay tax on it !!!! Does it really make sense ????? As for OAS benefit, I have been living in Canada since the year 2000 and have started to collect a meagre 413 $ per month and have also to pay tax on it !!!!!!! WTF is wrong with Canada ??? Think about of surviving on a monthly taxable total income of $ 990 !!!!!! I really regret having worked so hard to earn this in my old age !!! At least those who have not worked hard get at least a GIS (guaranteed ) income supplement as a bonus, which I don't get !!!! OAS and CPP as well as GIS shouldn't be taxable income !!! It is like our GOVERNMENT want us (SENIORS) to horribly die of hunger and misery !!!! Hope Conservative PIERRE POILIEVRE ABOLISH TAXES ON THOSE BENEFITS FOR SENIORS !!!!

Hi there, I wonder how this shed would hold up on the prairies where the temperature spans from +40C to -40C ?

Excellent question, Andrew. I'm currently on Vancouver Island so our shed has experienced mid to high 30's in Summer but only about -10 in winter with lots of rain and heavy, wet snow. I do have 40 years of experience living in Yukon however and if I were back there now I'd be willing to try one of these for sure. It would be interesting to learn if the material would get brittle at those low temperatures though. I don't thinks so, but have no way of knowing for sure. If you decide to try one, let me know how it goes for you.

Hi there, I have been battling with chronic insomnia for years , seen a few naturopaths over the years with no improvement until I started incorporating simple 10 minute aerobic exercise every morning and since then my sleep has greatly improved.Take care.

Yup, it's interesting what impact a bit of movement can have for us. I'm glad you found something that works for you.

Hi there, thanks for sharing. Just my two cents, wouldn’t it be better to grind chia seeds before adding instead of using them whole. Ground seeds are probably better utilized by the body, the whole ones are going to go right through the digestive system.

Thanks, Andrew. Never thought of that. I'll have to give it try.

I look forward to your videos on Meaningful Movement. I am still looking for movement that I can do and feel better for it and not just pain.
