First Ever Video!!! 2024 knitting sewing project plans
This was such a fun video! Bronwyn I want to go to Sheep+Wool so badly! Also that blue yarn combo is going to make the most beautiful sweater. Can't wait to see!
Lovely video!
Thank you!
Forage and Sow is my favorite dyer. I knit last years Rhinebeck sweater in her yarn. It’s glorious to knit with.
Great to hear! I can’t wait to work with it.
Being in MA, you should check out the festival at the Big E in Springfield this weekend. There is also a very small one in Cummington every year on Memorial weekend. :)
OOOO thank you for this suggestion! I’ll try and see if I can make it out to Springfield this weekend😊
BEST Rhinebeck review I've seen! Loved all your purchases, and would love a spoon rest like that! Great job!!!!
Thank you so much ☺️
Yes to the soft loop in the periwinkle colour!! That was love at first sight for me! ♡
Soooo obsessed
Loved your hones Rhinebeck recap. I really like the sheep & wool tote bag. 🧶
Thank you! Yeah, the tote bag is amazing🤩
Did you do the knit stitch on the first and last stitch after doing the decreases for the collar? Super confused bc this breaks the pattern of seed stitching/ the knit stitches for the big cable so not sure what purpose this serves
Yes! It basically creates space so that the big cable really stands out. Definitely worth it to do
Amazing! Definitely going to try this with my Lane pants pattern
Amazing! I’ve been wanting to try out the Lane pants
What cast on/ bind off did you use?
I used long tail cast on and standard knit bind off. Usually I bind off with a slightly bigger needle because I bind off really tightly
Omg this is SO helpful thank you thank you thank you
Yay!!! I’m so happy to hear that
Your projects look amazing. I would love to stay at an Airbnb like yours but on a sheep farm. 🧶🐑
A sheep farm would be awesome!!!
I definitely put my super wash merino in the washer and dryer. Mine tend to stretch out a bit after wearing and washing and drying gets them back to a snug fit for me
I will definitely try with my next pair of socks!
yay so glad you're back Bronwyn! congrats on your wedding & move again! I looove the grey raglan you're working on & can't wait to see more of the Halibut Sweater 🤍
Thank you Nurin! Excited to be back on RUclips😊❤️
Started the left side and i’m back😂
Great to hear!!!
Your notes helped a LOT! It was so so confusing.
Trousers are not "beginners paterns" to me!
To me they’re “easier” because you don’t have to deal with topstitching like you do for jeans😅
Do you know that you aren’t looking into the camera?
Where can I get the pattern?
It’s the willow dress pattern by Cinnamon Daisy studio!
I have just started this cardigan and your video was so helpful! Thanks for sharing the video of the mock cables on the wrong side.
Yay so happy to hear ☺️
Runninggg to my knitting, I did my last increases right before watching this 😂 totally putting a stitch marker in there NOW. Thank you!
Happy this helped! :)
Girl. I just started on the flat section of the haraboji cardigan and your video explanation was a life saver!!! Thank you so much for taking the time to document your explanation.
So happy to hear this was helpful :)
Do you think it’s better to get the danish version of the haraboji cardigan and translate it in English or is it ok to get the english version? Is there any other mistakes that I should know if I get the english version?
I think the English version should be ok! I covered all the mistakes that I caught, but if you run into anything that looks off feel free to reach out and I’ll try to help :)
@@bwynmakes thank you so much, I will😊
What an awesome video! I love your persistence and positive attitude! I learned a lot. I've been sewing for a looong time, but I've always been too afraid to attempt fly front trousers. You've really inspired me! Your jeans look great on you! Well done!
Thank you so much! :)
@bella535-agree with you!
New subscriber, love your content!
Thank you so much😊
loved the video, as always!! Your style is so cute and I cant wait to see what you sew next! (Also, I literally didn’t even notice the “likes” until coming to the comments section so don’t let it discourage you! People have odd pet peeves sometimes lol)
Thank you thank you☺️ and yes, not letting it get to me! I think some people genuinely are trying to be well intended with criticism, so I’m looking at it from that perspective
Count the number of times you used the filler "like". Drop it. You are very difficult to listen to. The content is good but if this is how you speak...... Just drop the like. I am not trying to be hateful. Far from it , just a bit of constructive criticism
I just found your videos and came to say hi! . I always find sock knitting is great in the summer time. It’s light and portable and it doesn’t make you hot the way larger projects or yarn gauges do. The beanies are very sweet. Slightly random coincidence but I just put out my second RUclips episode too!
Hi! And welcome to RUclips! Love having new knitting channels to follow :)
The antler buttons are absolutely beautiful and I can see that they will make a statement piece for you! They might work for another project perhaps with a brushed/fluffy/tweedy textured, undyed colored jacket that looks more rustic. The hexagon buttons you chose def fit your casual yet sophisticated vibe better~
Yes exactly! Antler buttons are gorgeous but hexagons are more me
Thank you for sharing your experience with the Haraboji Cardigan. I am just starting the knit and got stuck at the same points. Really helpful!
I’m glad this was helpful! If you have any other questions along the way feel free to reach out😊
It looks great. What size did you make? Did you make gauge with the dk or is there just less positive ease?
Thank you! I knit size 1- I’m so bad at doing swatches unless it’s a really fitted piece🫣 but I did end up with the fit/ measurements that were listed by the pattern for that size. I think it helps that every step is based on measurement and not row count
What kind of edge stitching foot did you get? You’ve convinced me to get one
It’s just a stitch in the ditch foot- I got it off of Amazon
Toile (French) pronounced twall, as in toile de jouy
@@johannechampagne7332omg yes! I just learned from a friend the other day that I have been pronouncing it incorrectly this whole time🤦🏼♀️
I made several pairs of these a few years ago. I also struggled with modifications. I love high waisted pants/slacks because they are figure flattering. Thanks for the back rise tips. I wonder if shortening the front rise and lengthening the back would solve all the fit issues. Mine are all a bit long in the front but short in the back. You've got my wheels turning for when I make some new ones for Spring.
Happy to hear this was helpful😊
It was so nice that you knit hats for each of your bridesmaids. And your sewing projects look great! I like audiobooks also. I am currently knitting the Top Gun cardigan by Knitatude.
Thank you! And yeah, audiobooks are AMAZING
Love your spring inspo ❤
Thanks so much 😊
❤
I absolutely love the look of this pattern but ive never done cables before. would you recommend the pattern in general (and I would just power thru) or generally it's not worth the trouble? ty!!!
I would 100% recommend it! I love my cardigan, I’ve worn it almost every day since making it and the style is very timeless
Your Drift Jacket is stunning! 👏🏾 That Olivier Vest looks so cool.
Thank you so much! and yes, such a cool looking pattern
you're so good at matching fabrics to patterns - I'm a beginner and I am struggling with choosing fabric online!
Thank you! I love Blackbird fabrics and Salt Lake Sewciety because with each fabric on their website they link specific patterns that the fabric could go well with- it’s so helpful! (I’m sure other businesses do this too but those are the two that are off the top of my head)
@@bwynmakes Yes! I haven't bought from blackbird yet because it's a bit pricey for me, but I've learned a lot just from browsing their site. I'll have to check out Salt Lake Sewciety too!
I totally get what you mean about loving something aesthetically or creatively-like those antler buttons- but then realizing it just doesn’t feel right on a garment. I wish the Venn diagram of ‘knitting and sewing that excites me creatively’ And ‘garments that I will actually wear a lot’ was a circle but it’s unfortunately not lol🥲
Right?! Sometimes that’s just how it goes… but I try to prioritize wearability over anything else
I just found your channel and I really enjoyed your video! Just as a side note (and hopefully constructive criticism), it's a bit strange that you're not looking at the camera but at the side the whole time. It makes no difference but I guess looking at the camera gives us more of a sense you're talking to us :)
Oh I hadn’t even noticed or thought of that- thanks for letting me know, it’s a great note! Will try looking more directly in my next video :)
The antler buttons are really cool, but I agree with you, and think the buttons you went with match the sweater so much better. The sweater looks amazing, you did a wonderful job!
Thank you😊
I should not be giggling so hard at “hungry bum” 🤭
It always makes me giggle🤣 I don’t know how I kept my composure for this video
Yes! make the Persephone video. I’ve made two pairs and they are wearable but the back rise is definitely off.
Shared one a few weeks ago! ruclips.net/video/Jzf7rZJhVX4/видео.htmlsi=E40brTd27LTo29LQ hopefully it’s helpful
We are definitely friends 🥹🥰 and I’m so glad you were able to find an extra button! It’s going to look so good, I reckon by the time you’ve filmed and posted the haraboji video I’d be still on the sleeves 😂 Also felt like the little explanation of the knitting lingo in the beginning is super sweet ♡
I insta DMed you but I ended up changing the buttons😬😬😬
