Cliokbait title. Considering theres another CRT that was clocked to 700hz. In before: muh 320x160 resolution or some b-s. Yeah no ones going to get a CRT to play The Witcher 3 at 640x400. These CRT frog videos are such a joke. Come back to the modern ages. The game looks like absolute donkey at 640x400 no matter the technology. Id rather a 360hz oled than this. But you enjoy your black crushed CRT monitor and think its somehow the greatest thing of all time.

the highest is 1000HZ and it not a joke if you look you could find a 4K 1000HZ from TCL that as been tested by dev of UFO test, if i remember and everything is real

I mean in theory you could make some custom drive electronics, attach it to the neck of the tube and go both fast and at higher res. At some point you might start burning the deflection coils out, but I think the main limitation is the drive electronics.

I have a Viewsonic E70fb crt and the image shrinks and tilts every now and then so I have to use the buttons on the monitor to tilt back and "stretch" out the image again. Any idea what's causing this and is there any way to fix it?

hi, you seem to like technical challenge. I have a hdmi to vga powerfull enough but can't display 1440p of my ps5 on my 22" trinitrons pc monitors. It has to do with the EDID I guess, as 1440p is under these monitors top resolution. If ever you would find a solution, you would be my hero (and the first in the wolrd to ever picture that, as there is no footage of 1440p from a console on a crt)! See you :)

the best thing about CRT is, whatever LOWER resolution than native did you use, it looks great. you dont need that "DLSS / FSR" thing to make it looks better on lower resolution. I got sony trinitron 1920x1200 and benQ lcd FHD monitor, at native resolution, LCD win, its crispier color, but lower resolution, lets say 1280x900 on sony, and 1280x720 on benQ lcd, the sony win!! even the benQ using FSR/DLSS super resolution, the CRT one still better picture dont know why

You may want to invest in a GM counter to measure radiation if you are pushing CRTs this far outside their operating parameters. I only did some mental math, so I may be completely off, but I believe 700 Hz may have already pushed radiation to hazardous levels (depending on how effective the shielding is outside its intended operating range).

my aunt has had her crt for so long, it is a crt but it’s not high end, just a normal crt that would be in someone’s room, only has rca video, should i bother with it or find something suitable for desktop & possibly better quality, i wanna try one of these displays these days, thanks! also like the videos

Great, this video has been picked up by news outlets - now they will start selling for $2000+ on eBay. Thanks again, retro RUclips. CRTs have become unobtainable after all these video claiming CRT HAVE AMAZING PERFORMANCE COMPARED TO LED MONITORZZZZ. CRTs should be reserved for usage with era-appropriate machines - full stop. Everything else serves just to raise market prices and let “professional” retro resellers profit from otherwise previously-unknown (and because of that not valuable) specific models of retro equipment. Take the entire PVM scam for example - games were made with super-crappy screens in mind, used with composite - but noooo, retro RUclips needed to sell all those PVMs at massive jacked-up prices, so let’s just post a “ULTIMATE CRT FOR RETROGAMING!?” video and see those prices skyrocket!

Great channel! Do you know by chance which computer CRTs have the least amount of phosphor trails? A good game to test phosphor trails are early versions of Bugatron, a great 3D Space Invaders clone with Amiga-style music where colorful aliens are moving very fast against the black background... I have also read that if you inject black frames into a game on a CRT you can minimise phosphor trails and make the image generally even more fluid. Special K has a setting to inject black frames, so it something worth checking out.

The HD Triniton i have was way ahead of its time! I still enjoy watching tv on it! Its a CRT.

Have you tried the monoprice models? I use one of theirs for my old Packard bell monitor and it does native dos resolution and refresh rate just fine (320x200@70hz). It does max out a weird resolution past svga 60hz, but I think that's wholly the monitor, since it's from 1993. I'd love to fix up my Sony trinitron multi-scan and see how that works and looks.
