This commercial came out in 2003 and literally won all the advertisement awards that year. Getting realistic looking metal and glass was extremely hard to create with computer graphics back then and this is not some big budget sci-fi movie where it makes sense to use CGI, its a rube Goldberg machine with car parts, it costs way less to make a actual one than to use CGI, back then the only time even films used cgi was when they absolutely had to

    Yes, some rather sketchy premises to their reasoning there. The purpose was to discover whether she is a witch or not. What they tested was whether she weighed the same as a duck or not. The first mistake they made was in assuming that everything that can burn (including witches) is made of wood. What is this error called in the scientific method? And then they failed to establish a control i.e. will someone who is not a witch also burn like wood. What is that error called?

  • @Darthbelal
    @Darthbelal 12 лет назад

    You break out the old staple gun and pin each strip to the station mold. Some true fanatics will clamp the strips to the station molds then tape them to each other. You can find examples of those techniques floating around RUclips. You're in love with strip canoes, can't blame you. I would SUGGEST that you get one of the free boat plans from Spira International or Bateau,kom and build a simple plywood boat first and see if you like the hobby.

  • @dissington
    @dissington 12 лет назад

    Simple. 1. They asked a question: is she a witch?, 2. formed a hypothesis:If she weighs the same as a duck, she's made of wood and therefor a witch, 3. tested the hypothesis: 4. weighed the girl against a duck, 5. made observations: saw she weighed the same, and 6. drew conclusions: she was a witch based on the weight. Granted, it is not very good science per se, but the spirit of the method is very obvious. Its Monty Python.

    @HaveNoFearTomIsHere Actually I thought about that scene for a long time wondering how they made wheels roll up a plane against gravity. The only way it could be accomplished is through a counter weight installed on the back of the rim which would make the tire rotate to its new center of gravity. I don't like how it is done as I agree with you Tom, it makes it look fake. If you still don't belive me, then just enjoy it for what it is - a cool video.

    • @jamessmithers5206
      @jamessmithers5206 4 года назад

      Actually that part makes sense. With counter weights ot is possible that the tires hit before the first one reached it's centre of gravity, causing it to keep rolling a short distance. That would be the science behind it but I still think this video is a ruse to make people think it's real.

    I enjoyed this. but I think you can look at it from a completely different angle than it was intended. (or was it intended, and I'm the idiot?) Anything can "sound" like science and fit the scientific method. That doesn't make it true. My frame of reference is that I think quantum physics is bullshit...kind of like this witch burning. It doesn't exist within a framework of logic. "scientists" say its a different type of logic. I say it is illogical, and therefor wrong. Burn me.
