I also went down a rabbit hole with this and the ODV-II. I feel you pain.
Rebug 4.84.2 + RSX BOOST. Stable 60°C, but I started thinking that the temperature sensor is dead because of the heat.... So, yeah, my ps3 right now is more like a that soviet bomb in the garden :V
Can it be possible to have a HFW with 650/750?
Delid this bad boys and your way better to go ✌️
Thanks for this! I told myself not to overclock because it's not safe but I can't get it out of my head. Afterwatching this I feel more confident as long as I keep it 600mz Thanks again
Try add frame generator, if legend about underuse of cpu is true then it should be possible to use 2 or 3 threads to generate 15-20fps more in every game without overclocking
I wonder if it's possible to get the 28nm rsx hooked up to a phat PS3. The pinouts are the exact same so theoretically as long as you wire it properly it should work but elegantly mounting it to the other motherboard probably would be impossible
Will there be separate revisions for the different PlayStation 3 models?
To be fair to the PlayStation 3 lots of games ran better on 360 but I'd love to see the Xbox 360 try to run uncharted 3 or the last of us without exploding
o PS3 foi projetado para entregar 60+ FPS.
60 e 90 FPS.
you should try testing GTA V and God of War III
can you flash the adrino with the usb port?
Yeah, that's the only way to write to it in flash mode.
as far as i can tell. the newer ones dont use the app. they have a lil lcd screen
So im conflicted by the GBSC. Since most consoles have RGB, some have to mod like the N64 and NES, SCART is an option. Even the PS1 has RGB but not component. iirc, from the Retro Game Cable's website, based out of UK, i was able to have a cart that had SCART cables for all those consoles, minus the NES which was an RCA to SCART, for about 230 USD. Put in a Voultar RGB mod for the N64 for 50 after tax and shipping, thats 280. Then you see these GBC devices ranging from 60 to 100, making the total 340-380. So for a little more than cost of the RT5x, you have a 1080p upscaler plus all the cables and a mod to take advantage, because while i could just use the cables that came with my consoles, im stuck on composite, and knowing how much better even S video is to it, idk if i wanna waste a RT5x on composite. Granted, as you do in this video, I could get an OSSC for 150 which puts the total to 490-530, which is cheaper than a RT5x and all those upgraded cables. Im not sute how to think about this. If this is a better bang for your buck or what. Edit: i only learned about the GBSC yesterday and still trying to figure out compatibility, so im fully aware im likely wrong. Like i didnt including the cost of component cables for the PS2, Gamecube, Xbox, Dreamcast, and Wii. But that doesnt ignore that the ~$225 saved by going with the GBSC can pay for many cables and even a mod for one console. So im just overloaded with info and probably Dunning-Krugered
If you haven't, I'd definitely suggest watching the GBS-C follow-up video I made recently before deciding on anything.
i need the firmware 900/950
awesome
Lo probarías con Sonic unleashed?
I'm torn on the GBS-C. I am a tinkerer by heart and although I could buy a Retrotink 4K/5X, I like to build. So build I did. Does it work, yes. Does the WiFi work, maybe one out of 20 times I use it. I have not been able to figure out why either. Sometimes I will fire it up and I can adjust everything via the GUI. Yay, that is what it is supposed to do. Most of the time I cannot access the site and basically it only runs on the last settings. Really defeats the purpose for me. I have spent a lot of time and money making mine. But after all this inconsistent web access, I am about to grab a 4K and call it a day. Tinkering is awesome but sometimes it is better to pay. I am going to mod mine and add a screen so I can manually adjust settings. If that works, I will more than likely keep it.
I've noticed that the WiFi seems to be more reliable if the scaler isn't actively processing a signal. Also, the settings available though the on-board GUI are much more limited than what's available in the web interface. You can change resolutions and load presets, and that's about it.
Would those thermal pads work on ps4 pro?
They should work for any application were you would normally use thermal paste.
I'm still on 4.84.2 rebug cech2501
All this just to mimic a fraction of an emulator power… then again pretty interesting
Really really appreciate you covering this scaler! I bought one a few years ago and was able to clear up some of my issues based on your first video
Glad to hear it.
test with MGS4 please
5:13 I love .55 caliber
2fps just to brick your console. yikes
Right? These people are just stupid at this point
@@seranagod909 Is 20 fps+ not 2 fps+
@sync-on-luma (Y) In regards to the hardware variants section. Not all 2500x models can have their firmware downgraded to use CFW. Some of the later 2500x models are not able to do this.
My phat 65nm cell 65nm RSX does 650mhz core 850 memory I'm afraid to try more than that I started normal 600 and 750 . Next memory with 25mhz bumps till the 850. Core is a 65nm only punched a extra 50mhz
How can I get that theme for the background? On rebug
Always fun to test this sprt of stuff but in my experimentation I found results similar to this video across the board. IMO (read that again, IN MY OPINION), the thermal impact and audible impact from the fan is not worth the minimal gains. I can count on one hand the games that I noticed a real difference with, the times where I booted a game and had a "wow" moment where micro-dips or tearing were totally smoothed out. But, again, at the cost of going over a thermal limit and the fan going apes*it. Borderline vacuum cleaner decibels in some rare cases and my console is very clean with high upkeep. I've been in repair for years, I can take it apart with my eyes closed. It's not old or bad TIC. Early phat units would often come back "repaired" by Sony with the fan set to permanently be louder than a vacuum. My brother's was like this and it could be heard from the street outside his house. While playing a few titles it came close to that same level for me (usually Unreal and some 1st party titles). Chip lottery and all so it's anecdotal but I don't find it to be worth it. I think Sony chose the clocks for a reason, lkkely after realizing all of the stuff we're finding out.
I've got the cech-25
Nice PlayStation 3.
Does it work with hen?
No😊
Cool stuff bro.
If you still got the evilnat firmware could you make a link for it i dont trust other ones and wanna give this a shot
pointless the performance gain is nonexistent.
😂😂😂😂

My CECH-2508 only can 750/950 :(
I would like to see how Sonic the hedgehog 2006 improves with the overclocking and also AC4 Black flag since it has unlocked fps
Been running 600/750 on a 2004b slim for 2 weeks straight no issues
600/750 is the OC we’ve had for 2 years now. That OC is very stable and conservative.
@@Tanzu15 can I go to 700/800? Or 650/800
Im pretty sure im leading the pack with rsx testing 😎
Nah. I’m the king. I own 10 PS3 slims now testing🤣
@@Tanzu15 How many videos have you posted with an overclocked ps3 doh? 😎👀
@@BOXING_LOUNGE well making videos is not my thing. I want to. But don’t think all that hard work would pay off. My PS3s are doing 900/1000 950/1000 900/975 lowest I have is 850/975. I know how to bin them.
@@Tanzu15 so to confirm your getting a faster overclock?
@@BOXING_LOUNGE yes I know which model and date guarantee high Overclocks.
I wish there was also overclock for ram and the powerful cell cpu Like imagine jumping from 3.2ghz to 4.5ghz or something
so overclocked recommended or broken?
Recommended at a Certain level on slims max 700/900 and slowly 50mhz up if broken artefacts seen revert
Help my ps3 blackscreen when installing oc 800/950. on my CECH-2000A ps3. at that time I was still at oc 750/850 but I wanted to try to increase it further, namely oc 800/950 when I was installing it and the installer finished suddenly after my ps3 restarted the ps3 blackscreen but there was sound and finally I tried to go to safe mode but it turned out that safe mode blackscreen and I tried again by removing the hdmi and plugging it in again and safe mode turned out to be able to display images and I immediately installed ofw 4. 91 in safe mode to restore it and it turned out to add another new problem, namely stuck on system updates for more info you can check my channel and I hope this problem can be resolved with your help and I hope there are people who want to help me Thank you!
Are you stupid? You didn’t do your research at all. Now you have a brick.

I'm not sure if I should try this on my cech 25xx. But I'd really love to play GTA4 on stable framerates
What 25xx version do you have is a fat slim? I can help
25xx can overclock the most. But 700 core 950 memory will be fully stable for you.
Play it on Xbox Series S/X you get the game running at 60FPS consistently or just get a PC lol
How do i know what if i have a 90nm or a 65nm and is there a tutorial for the OC ?
What about a 40nm frankenstein modded cecha01?
very cool, looking forward to seeing what's possible with overclocked ps3s
For now that’s all we can do. And what we will be able to do in a long time or just straight up ever. So enjoy it while we have it. It has big boosts in performance.
@@Tanzu15 uh yea.. i understand that. Thx. Shoutout to everyone working to get any performance improvements on the ps3!!
Test it on far cry 3 plsss
i tried with 700mhz on RSX and 900mhz on the GDDR3 VRAM and it did 30fps with little drops here and there. considering that on normal clocks it goes anywhere between 15 and 30, I'd say it is a great improvement.
How do I get it to be 700 750mhz?
Download it?😊

That’s a good PS3 to OC. Easily does 700 core 950 memory. Don’t ever go above 950 memory unless you want a new door stopper.
