    I’ve been a superintendent/owner for decades..grew up in the business. I have watched many videos of guys changing holes and I laugh at the way they take such a simple task and turn it into a huge ordeal. The bucket, roller, water, level, sextant, clipboard, and even taking the greens temperature..😂. All joking aside, I can out there by myself and change 18 holes in 45 minutes. Believe me, the golfers will Not know any difference in the way I do it than the way I see it done on RUclips with the fancy steps. Superintendents have a thankless job and it seems the more you do at your golf course the less it is appreciated. Make life simple for yourself, go out there and just change the hole..all you need is a puller, changer, and cup setter. Press it down with your foot some and go to the next one. Don’t over stress..

      Been a course setter for years. Watering plugs during hot times is very important. Avoiding volcano holes is also important. You seem like a lazy superintendent. The way you describe your ethics makes me wonder how good your golf course condition is.

    • @doctorwu1303

      @@Phantomfire100 My course is in pristine condition. I’ve changed thousands of holes and never had one ‘volcano’. It really downright just pisses me off you have the nerve to call me a lazy superintendent and question My ethics. For decades I’ve worked my ass off in the business and have earned the respect from not only from my peers, but from the golfers who play our course. EYou’ve been setting holes for years, come back when you’ve been in the business for decades. You’re still wet behind the ears, right out of turf school if you even went to school. My comment was meant to be taken jokingly and tongue in cheek…lighten up.

    I do that exact job at my course. Though you can get closer with a 3500D sidewinder, with little to no risk of sliding in. Unless you have a monstrous slope next to a bunker

    Subbed I work at a golf course for 7 months now, finally just getting on the big boy mowers, but the training is abysmal. My question you regarding rough mowing is do you do any zero point turns during rough cutting? Lightbulb/question mark turns? Do you go inside out? do you mow in a circle around the fairway or do you split it into sides? Yes I have asked these things of my co-workers and bosses but they honestly didnt give me much technical info most deflections. Oh an I am primarily on the Toro RM 4500

    • @WhosGeoffrey
      @WhosGeoffrey 10 месяцев назад

      there's no exact answer to your questions because it really depends hole by hole and if youre mowing around golfers as well. When I mow around the fairways I'll do full circles unless there's golfers than I try to stripe up a side/area of the rough that isn't heavily played and is somewhat out of the way of them playing. I work at a very chill golf course so I was thrown on the rough mower and was told it doesn't matter as long as the grass gets cut in a timely manner. So over time you find quicker routes and better ways to attack tighter rough areas.

      He was setting the putting green which isn't as deep as a regular hole but he cut for a regular hole. Since you know everything you should know that packing down a plug will only temporarily keep it down. It will rise up and the mower will scalp it especially if it gets wet
