Char-griller Akorn Jr. - Smoked Boneless Beef Finger Ribs

Not sure what to call them, as there are so many descriptions out there. All I know is that they are beef, boneless, and a close cut to beef brisket. My package said "Beef finger ribs", so that's what I'll go with. Char-Griller Akorn Jr - Grilled Flank Steak and Baked Potatoes
Просмотров 1,4 тыс.4 года назад
If you're a meat and potatoes type person, this one's for you! Flank steak is one of my favorites due to it's thick cut. Grill on maximum heat for about a minute or two on both sides, take it off and let rest for 10 minutes. Slice it thin, serve as is or call it a roast and pour some gravy on there. Also great for steak wraps, stir fry, and fajitas! Enjoy! Happy New Year's to everyone watching!

      I dunno, I watch a lot of Malcom Reed and his 'How to Barbecue Right' channel. He does this method as well, and I think it's to break down the meat fibers so it's not so tough and chewy. Other people do low and slow, but always seem to be spraying the ribs with water or cider every so often. There's so many ways to do them...lol. I guess this is just my way (and Malcom Reed's).

      @ the spray with liquid doesn’t steam the meat. The steaming does cut down cooking time by at least an hour but there is a trade off. Try sometime without the steam and see if you notice the difference. I’m 50 years old and been smoking and grilling since I got married at 19. It’s shocking how many grills and smokers I’ve burnt up over the years

      @thecanadiangrill1715 10 месяцев назад

      Hi there! Yes, they do pretty well in the winter. I'm also in Canada. Grill temps are still high, as long as you don't leave the lid open for too long. Where these really shine is on cold WINDY days. My gas grill struggles to maintain grill temps and the flame will blow out when trying to grill on low. The Akorn Jr. is pretty well insulated and is (for the most part) wind proof!

If so is the entire burner on for all grilling or is there a control to turn off half of the burner so you can grill indirectly? For example place items on one side (left) of the grill while the burner is on for the other side (right) so you can grill indirectly.

I really want to say though, I am over the moon with this kamado, you can get this to sit at 100c all day long. Lie i say, I have no clue generally and certainly not with any comparison to other grills but other than size, there is nothing that would make me want to buy another kamado. Temp control has been a revelation to me...just open the bottom temp about 0.5 and same again with top and it will hold a really low temp for as long as there is fuel to burn...really impressed with mine...

I think my grill i use to set the deflector is 10.5 inches, but it fits fine. However, instead of a pizza stone. I am using a deflector made out of terracotta. My grill was super cheap at like $1.20 and the deflector cost me about $2.00. If I bought and shipped char-grillers deflector. it would cost me like $60 with shipping, no way I'm doing that. The only thing I don't like about the Akorn is they should just provide the deflector plate, it's needed if you buy this grill.
