Best E-Jet Yet? Real Airline Captain tests X-Craft Embraer E-Jets Update V1.1.0 September 2024
I am a real life airline pilot. I used to be a Captain on the Embraer E-Jets, since then I moved to a different location, airline, and flew 2 different jet types, but this is all coming back to me flying this product.
Showcasing the newest update V1.1.0 of the X-Craft Embraer E-Jets for X-Plane 12, featuring very nice LNAV, VNAV capabilities coupled with FMS speeds fully implemented.
I'm not payed by X-Craft for my opinions, nor did they give me a gift copy of the product. I'm just a normal customer, giving my honest opinions.

Real Airline Pilot Ops in X-Plane 747-200 Long Haul Flight New York to Vienna (Quiet during Cruise)
Am currently working on my atp and I would love to share something with everyone reading this comment I live literally under the proud waypoint as you approaching KLGA for many years I always looked out the window and saw the planes approaching LGA and that motivated me to start my aviation journey as I did my instrument rating I once opened the fore flight app to see the routes of the planes going to LGA and saw the proud waypoint right above me I told myself God welling one day ill be so proud when i fly that one day….and seeing you do this video the minute I saw the proud waypoint i teared up bc something is telling me your almost there…. To everyone out there always believe in yourself and remember you are one of a few that is blessed to be a pilot…
Great job sticking to your goals. Keep going, almost there!
When accelerating does the AP usually just about level out to gain speed then pitch back up? Usually i see the VS come back through 1000fpm but the EJets seems to come down to nearly 0fpm to accelerate… (sometimes it descends me lol)
So in short: Right after takeoff at acceleration altitude (1200ft), the plane should not be able to fully level off to accelerate, because we imposed an artificial minimum positive FD pitch. Above 10000ft, this limit is removed to permit climb at low fpm if it's needed. The long version: We've implemented a lower limit for FLCH climb, so that even if it needs to accelerate, the FD pitch should still climb at least 5° up (I don't remember the exact number now). But this limit is lowered with altitude up to 10000ft, above which we do not limit it anymore, because there were situations in the envelope where the plane would actually climb at low vertical speed and we had to allow that. When we didn't the plane would have stalled in those corner cases.
If I remember correctly, the real airplane would never level off in order to accelerate, but maintain a rate of climb of 500-1000 fpm until reaching the new speed, and then pitching up again to maintain under SPDe logic. At all weights, the airplane should be able to accelerate on a 500fpm climb up to way more than 10,000ft. Probably around FL200 or so. Even at higher altitudes, it would gently pitch to accelerate, maintaining a POSITIVE ROC (not 0) to reach the new speed. Depending on weight, speed, and density altitude (pressure altitude corrected for temperature)
best plane in simulators. please make more flights in xplane 12
Awesome video thanks! Out of interest, what types are you rated on now since the eJet?
Boeing 737, 787
@@crew-rest Nice. Enjoy! Keep up the great content
Very dangerous late rotation
TAKE OFF WARNING!!
True. Trim set incorrectly. Hence late rotation...
Thank you for an excellent and informative video on the E-Jets update 1.1.0. Your experience of flying the real aircraft makes it a professional guide to learn to fly on the sim. I look forward to watching future videos from you.
Excellent video, thanks to you, I learn easily after the last update.
Thank you for a very nice and informative video. I haven't purchased this airplane as yet but I think I will after watching this. I'm sure this plane will be enjoyable to fly once I get my head around all the different controls. I have mainly flown Airbus and Boeing since starting to play with the two, XP12 and MSFS2020, but I'm starting to look at other passenger jets now and the regional jets look interesting.
This is a great video! Thank you. I like the approach part the best because that is the one and most importaint thing I have issues with.
Thanks for the video!
Great video! Thank you, I learnt a lot. May I ask what the ground addon is?
Glad it helped. On this one, no ground services addon. Just default interface. Betterpushback for the push.

Nice to see you back on the X-Crafts and I'm glad they reached a level of simulation that you find acceptable. You are the only YT channel I know that is actually a real E-Jets pilot and your tutorials have helped me a lot to learn and fly those beautiful jets. Also, it's really nice to hear you have communication with Marko so you can point all the issues you find.
I flew the same route with the Rotate MD80 and the flight director was very jumpy too. I think it has to do with the weather there.
No FD in real life acts this way, even to VERY gusty weather. And it was not gusty at all. The airplane flew well and stable. The FD was way too quick and aggressive to react to speed and attitude change.
@@crew-rest Thank you, I really appreciate your input given I have no experience flying in real life.
16:36 Unfortunately, selecting FLEX for the time being does not change N1 values on Engine Display, we may only choose TO/2 fixed derate. This is the main drawback of this addon (hopefully it will be fixed soon)
Honestly it wouldn't matter to me ever. As long as the MCDU menu works and the display represents it well enough, I personally don't actually care if the engine didn't actually derate. I need to get my procedures done correctly, see the correct displays, and later get the plane off the ground safely. Just my personal opinion.
Its good to see they improved so much, i remember your first review and it was a buggy mess
It had its flaws, sure, but it flew, and even pretty well. Now it has come a long way since and it's a lot better.
Is there TO speed calculation in the FMC of the real aircraft? If so I wonder why X-Craft have it in the EFB instead.
To my knowledge the FMS doesn't calculate it, instead the calcualtions are performed by a 3rd party company so pilots need to send the request via a tablet and then they receive it back.
There isn't a takeoff calculation feature in the real aircraft, at least not in any one that I've seen. It's done externally, either via crew ipads or using external companies through the ACARS.
Thank you
At our airline we send for the TO (and approach) speeds through ACARS, and the dataset comes back through ACARS. So we can get all the speeds through the MCDU, but it's not actually the aircraft calculating them.
DCA-LGA…. You fly for Republic too? 😅. I’m not sure about load 27, I don’t have much time with it, but I know load 25 jumps from 250 to 270 @ 10,000 instantly, not the slow increase you had in the sim
Just a semi random route I picked... ;)
Love that you did the entire flow! It’s cool you really fly the e jet. Earned my subscription!
Great, welcome on board!
37:05 - I'm on the newest software. It doesn't slowly go up, it will just jump to your climb speed.
I think they did that as some sort of shortcut to keep the aircraft from being more erratic than it already seems to be…this looks like a beta release
Another thing too is the fuel at dest seems to be changing a lot during the flight. That doesn’t seem realistic
That's what I remembered, too. I've been to 2 different type ratings since having flown the Embraer, so I didn't want to completely dismiss the possibility that I don't know of a newer software version or something. Thanks for the info!
The FOD could have changed because of the discontinuity between the STAR and the APP? I haven't payed attention to it to be honest.
I gotta admit that you're right. I'm pretty sure that behavior was described to us by a different pilot, but I cannot find any reference to it in the manual. The problem now is that the smooth transition actually does result in a much smoother acceleration and deceleration, so the question is, do we need to go back and remove it, so that it works correctly, but worse? That's a pickle.
Great video, i appreciate your comments, knowledge and feedback. Not sure if you know this about v-speeds but on the tablet when you calculate them, there is a link in top right corner to 'Send to FMS'. After you do this go to the DLK button on the FMC and select the landing speeds (or takeoff) and it will automatically populate the v-speeds. I'm sure you know that though :) Thanks again, I love your channel and videos. dave
Thanks Dave, I forgot about that feature, but half happy it happened, as it kept me in my flow of working the FMS all throughout. Thanks for the reminder, and I'm glad you enjoyed it!
What ofp format is this?
LIDO
Great tutorial and excellent explanations of how everything works!
nice video! really enjoyed it! love the DC6
Glad you enjoyed it! Thankd for the input
great
I have a question about using various vertical modes in E-Jets. As we know, there is not simulated VNAV in FSS, but we're waiting. So, How often in normal operations IRL do you change altitude in FLCH or FPA instead of VNAV mode. I like flying E-Jets very much and using the currently available mods is great fun.
If everything works as planned and you are flying on prescribed, pre-planned routes, you'd happily use VNAV all day long and barely interfere. The "green" modes are for changes to those plans, as in an early or late descent, speed variations that VNAV cannot accommodate while flying it's planned path, and for radar vectors, when you get an entirely unplanned trajectory and don't have the time to properly build it in the FMS.
what ground servive do you use ?

hey great video, you know if its possible to get Kaitak working in xplane 12?
Thanks! I don't really know, I haven't checked yet. There probably is a scenery of it somewhere over the internet making it work.
Can't lie the nights look better than MSFS.
Can you check out the MSFS E-Jet series for us?
I have, check it out on my channel!
Good video thanks
This is really awesome to watch! It's very relaxing.
Thanks for joining! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
You’re stored flight plans- where did they come from? Do you use one of those filing subscriptions? Thanks.
I have always used Simbrief, and downloaded the FMS Plan from there when available. It has always been excellent and free. Recently it's becoming better and better.
settings? addons used?
Felis 747-200, the rest is vanilla X-Plane 12. Most settings Ultra.
When inputting airways I always get that error aswell, don’t understand why. In your previous in-depth tutorial when you placed your airways in, it worked, is this a new bug? 16:47
This is my first time flying the FSS Embraer for MSFS. My previous videos were in other addons: X-Craft for X-Plane 12 and before that Feelthere for Prepar3Dv4
Bought it even though It doesn’t have vnav, I’m in love with flying this aircraft haven’t stopped flying it since going on two weeks
Bought it even though It doesn’t have vnav, I’m in love with flying this aircraft haven’t stopped flying it since going on two weeks ago
Why is your mouse cursor isn’t at the right place?
I honestly don't know... But thanks for letting me know.
Which do you think is better? X-craft or this FSS? I applied for few regionals and might end up flying this plane so I want to start flying it in the sim.
Best of luck! At this point of time, FSS is better. Far from perfect, but as demonstrated - you can run your Normal Procedures flows and checklists well enough. Do check out my playlists on Embraer Normal Procedures and Systems, but just as a background.
It seems to me if you are serious about helping you would contact Marco directly and iwork with him. this approach I question
I have, and most likely will. I fired up the sim and cleared a couple of hours, thinking I'd make a quick tutorial for the community and point out the things that need to be done. I didn't expect to run into anything misprogrammed, but once I have, I pointed it out to as well, I don't edit my video so that everything is absolutely perfect, nor do I have the time to beta test features. I'm a user like most others. To question is your prerogative.
Thanks, I am very excited. Just a small suggestion. Can you please also show how you plan a engine out procedure with FMS. But very detailed and under consideration of different factors like: Prohibited areas, terrain, borders ect. Thanks!
Simple answer: I don't put anything in the FMS preemptively for an engine out scenario, typically. It is briefed amongst us pilots verbally, and I write it in short on a note that I keep visible during the departure. I might use the FIX INFO page to draw out the key makers in the Engine Failure Procedure, if it's not a simple straight out one.
The why the 787 lands in msfs is a nightmare
Haha it might be me. I fly so much in real life, I don't practice enough landings in the sim itself. It's like flying another airplane... Combined with my outdated hardware...
Hello, I’m gonna start my type rating on the E190-195, does the procedure are still the same for the bigger brothers? I’ve seen the FCOM should be valid from the 170 to 195, is that correct? Many thanks for this videos 🙏🏻
Great question, I personally haven't flown the 195, only the 170-175, I believe it should be identical.
So the lights behind the buttons on the guidance panel don't work? That has been confusing to me for so long... is that due to the sim or are they activated in real E175?
Correct. They DO NOT work. In my previous airline, at least. They CAN work but this is another airline configuration thing. My airline elected to not have them work, to force the pilots to strictly monitor the system based on the readings of the FMA in the PFD, as people should do anyway.
Nice 👍
what mods do you use
Mostly vanilla XPlane12, the main thing is the Felis 747-200
@@crew-rest ok 👍
What simulator is that?
Prepar3Dv4
