Sweet! Really Exceptional!
What about for live streaming? Great video as always.
Great for live streaming as well!
@ thank you!
Great video as always! Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Hi Kri! What camera/lens do you recommend for handheld shooting?
Sony FX3 paired with a stabilized lens like the 24-105mm f/4 is a dynamic duo to consider. I haven't done any videos on them (yet), but Lumix cameras are known for their amazing stabilization if you're looking for a lower-budget option. And finally, the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 is a great option as well for an even smaller budget. Hope this helps!
Another great video. Excellent points about the heat. The FX3/FX30 are fantastic in hotter environments, especially if you plan any outdoor shots. They are also brilliant for live-streaming.
Thanks, James and agreed about live streaming. Both amazing tools!
thanks for the video does the top arm work on an a7siii too?
You can probably connect the top handle to the a7siii via the shoe mount, but there won't be a way to secure the handle to the body like you can with the FX3/30. This means you can't pick the camera up by the handle and potential for the connector to be damaged is increased. I recommend using an external recorder like the Zoom F3 (geni.us/xMnpt8H) if you want to use a XLR mic with a camera other than the FX3/30. You can record externally to the recorder and/or run audio from the recorder to your camera to capture everything in one file. Thanks for tuning in!
Question, have you had any trouble editing from your SSD on a Mac because of EXFat mounting issues? RodeCaster Video only allows EXFat formatting of ssd's
I have not and this is the first I’ve heard of this. Do you know if this pertains to certain ssd brands?
What are your favorite FX30 accessories?
It's interesting, and I've never seen a video testing recording a real scene in low light... All the videos I've seen are tested in houses with super light... It would be an interesting thing to test.
Low light is this cameras Achilles heel so it’s not a realistic test case imo
@@kriedholm iphone is better?
Can you connect the Rode Caster Pro 2 to this RODE Streamer X device?
It’s possble
I needed this video. I was looking for ideas on using a wireless mic so I don't have to hold it. I don't show my face in my videos, but I wanted to make sure I didn't have the sound of my fingers rubbing up against the microphone. Thank you!
You’re welcome! Glad to help!
I completely agree with you and your suggestions. I used the same settings for my own video podcast and i didn't even have results close to yours. I don't know if it has also sth to do with the setup of the mics - i have 2 pod mics - and i m thinking to use also - to see the difference - my 2 wireless pro mics. I have the same distance between my mics. Does this matter also? I dont know. Great watching your videos about rodecaster video.
Thank you! Each test I've conducted yields a different result even if the same priority settings are used. I don't believe switching is triggered by audio at all in this firmware version. I am hoping Rode addresses this in a future firmware update.
Could you technically do this with RODE AI-Micro Audio Interface?
Possibly! I don't have one to test, but pretty sure you can use one of the usb-c ports on the RCV to connect. Great find and let me know if you ever have a chance to try it out.
@@kriedholm I might buy it to try it out.. Im looking for a very mobile set up with 4 mics.
That first one, the Manfrotto Mini, was what I used for a long time. Almost 5 years worth of Youtubing. Still use it for back up cams and stuff. That little thing is more useful than many give it credit for.
Agreed! Thanks for tuning in, Blerd!
The RC2 sounds so much more warm and better quality. I'd stick with that setup instead of switching to XLR Handle. The Handle is more useful if you're out on the field or need to recording stuffs with movement. Or you can also test out the XLR Handle with the SM7dB (newer version that has pre-built gain)
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the two!
Got a favorite tabletop tripod I missed? Let me know in the comments - I'd love to hear your recommendations!
Hi! Just saw your video and it helped me like no other to connect my wireless mic. I am struggling with another part, is there a way to connect the wireless mic to the Rodecaster and to an iPhone? What I am trying to do is to record videos straight from the iPhone but using the DJI Mic and having the sound effects from the Rodecaster, just to have a simple and more portable setup. Thanks!
Thanks, @jjam13. You could use a L/R cable splitter to run audio from the wireless receiver to the Rodecaster and iPhone, but you'd only be sending a L or R channel to each. Give it a shot!
hmmm I don't livestream but I've always been curious about how Multi-cast worked. Cool vid
Thank you, Jessie!
Can I plug in a instrument into the xlr . Will I be able to get audio that way ?
You can plug an instrument into the XLR port, so you should be able to get audio that way.
Love your content 🫶🏾
Appreciate it!
Nice studio!
Thank you!
That microphone in the video, whats the name sound crisp?

I’m in the same boat and am probably going to bite the bullet and buy an 8050. Its pretty much a once in a life time purchase, but it is a lot of cash.
Is it possible to connect Rodecaster Pro 2 to Streamer X or vice versa?
Yes
@@kriedholm can you please provide more info on how this can be achieved? I have been trying can't seem to get it to work :(
Great video, thanks a lot! Would you please share what brands you use for your tripods and lights in this video? I’m looking for some reliable gear that can for in a suit case for traveling. Any recommendations will be appreciated 🙏🏼
Thank you! I really like this compact lighting kit by Lume Cube. Includes light stands, lights, etc: geni.us/T3omWK
Kri.....what mic is that you are using? It looks great on camera!
Thanks, Michael! That's the GOXLR mic.
If a person wants to shoot vlogging and talking head type of videos for RUclips, which lens will go best with a6700 ?
Any of the ones covered in this video would work great, just depends on the look you're going for.
Thanks so much. Great video! :) So is it also possible to connect 6 wireless mics? Four mics via XLR Adapter and another to via wireless direct to the Rodecaster video? I got a important Stream next week an got to firgure out a solution. So thank you very much :)
Don’t believe that’s possible. Good luck with your stream!
New subie great job. I provide tech and beauty content please stop by if that’s some of your interest🎉
Thank you kri
You got it!
Great video, thank you for this. Question, is your other angle recorded at 1080 or 4k? Looks so crisp.
Glad it was helpful. Both cameras recorded at 1080, but the quality of the camera on my phone is much nicer than the webcam. This is probably true for most with a similar setup.
Good stuff! This is just what I needed.
Glad to hear it and appreciate you tuning in!
Thank you for this! I have 2 Interview Pros, but I was trying to find a way to add two more
Glad it was helpful!
Loving the DJI Mic 2! It's stylish, intuitive, and delivers crystal-clear audio😁
It is a great piece of gear!
I missed this one but am gonna watch it to the end go ahead teach
I really like the look of the Rodecaster Video. However, since the initial release, there seems to be a dearth of videos on RUclips. Is the Rodecaster Video too late in a saturated market?
Good question! Out of curiosity, what's another device that you think is comparable to the RCV? I'm not aware of a ton of competition in this space quite yet.
@@kriedholm I am classing the competition as other video switchers, such as the ATEMs, Yolobox's, RGBLinks, Osee Gostreams etc. I realise that they do not have the audio features of the Rodecaster Video, but are still capable of producing audio quality perfectly acceptable for RUclips and live streaming. The Local Authority that I work for stream meetings using an ATEM mini pro, with the audio going into the line-in from a conference microphone system. The audio is very good and compares favourably with other Local Authorities using more expensive systems.
Kri, please explain somthing to me: If the RODECaster Video puts out only 1080p, then how come this video is in 4K? Did you upscale it using a software, That's a little misleading, don't you think? We're watching your reviews so that we can SEE the actual result, but this video isn't the REAL result, please explian. thank you.
This is a good point although upscaling 1080 footage in a 4k timeline during the edit doesn't increase the quality of the footage. Additionally, you can change your view settings in RUclips to 1080 while watching to see what that quality looks like.
@kriedholm So, what was your process? Did you take the 1080 file and upscale it to 4k in an editing software? We just want to know what we're actually looking at here in the video.
@@kriedholm BTW Kri, is there any way i can use only my laptop (no extra display monitor) to view my multi view? instead of bringing a laptop AND a display monitor with me? Thank you.
Great setup. I have 600 sqft and it's been kicking my ass to finalize my setup lol. This definitely gave me some good ideas, thank you!
Great to hear! Good luck with your setup and thanks for tuning in.
This is such a great setup. I’m working on an office/studio redesign to give me as versatility as possible. This gave me lots of ideas. Thanks. Wishing you lots of views in 2025! By the way, the camera on the lowboy is a complete game changer, isn’t it!? I’ve done the same. Apart from the convenience of being able to change shots, it just feels more compact than a traditional tripod setup. Highly recommended.
Thanks, James! You're so right about the lowboy. Wishing you a fantastic year as well!
Cute video friend i just subscribed to your channel i got many ideals
Appreciate you tuning in!
Kri, how would you rate this lens compared to the Sony 24-50 G. I am stuck between them. I shoot my mortgage videos in my studio mostly, but also I do talks with Kids on Leadership outside and inside on stage, plus shooting my kids on vacation and vlogging. What are your thoughts on which you think would work best.
The 24-50 is a great lens and seems like it fits all the needs you describe. Since the focal range of these lenses are so close to the one you already have, I'd actually recommend something a little wider for vlogging. Sony has a number of lenses in the 16mm range that are fantastic but honestly it seems like you're all set!
@@kriedholm Thank you.
Right now all I have is one room that I’m sleeping in, but I will use your video as inspiration for making it as cool as studio as possible.
It can be done! Good luck with the studio buildout.
Godly setup, my English friend!!!
Thank you!!
Keep up the good work! The setup looks great! 👍
Thanks, will do!
Wheels are the key. I also love that big tool drawer. One big investment I made were impact stands with wheels for the softboxes, but I really need a gear chest with worktop.
Impact stands are a great investment - team wheels all the way! You'll love having a gear chest as well. Happy New Year, Gary.
@@kriedholm Happy New Year!
I love your studio ,congratulations on how you set it up. I notice the gray panel is that for sound control or is it for something else. I have learn so much from you. Thanks gor all you do Happy New Year
Thank you and HNY to you, too! The gray panel is more for decoration. I use it to hide things based on whatever look I'm going for.
Good stuff as always. Thanks for the BTS review, lots of great ideas for a relative "Newbie" like myself.😁👍
Thanks, Bruce! You'll never stop learning in this space, which is one reason why I love it so much.
for some reason i thought this was about the RUclips Studio interface Setup that content creators use, but i love this too!
The camera on wheels setup highlighted in this video is my fav content setup at the moment, but there are so many options. I'll do another interface video soon. Thanks, Casey!
