ET BiB would win for me in the lineup you had for this video. So much value (and volume; 1 liter bottle) for the money. Benchmark is an interesting brand. I haven't had the Top Floor version, but have tried the others ("standard", Bonded, SiB, FP). Every one I've tried has been at least OK, and the FP is my fave (tremendous value for the money, IMO).

Blind tastings are fun and a great way to find out what you really like, without prejudice. When GF and I did something similar, our winner was <insert drumroll here>... Kirkland Signature Single Barrel (made by Barton 1792). Beat out things like Blantons, Eagle Rare, EC, WT Rare Breed, etc.

I'm working on my first bottle of Knob Creek 12 year, and I swear it gets better with every glass. It may even be better than the KC store pick that I love so much. The first glass was nothing but oak, but it's opened up right well. 3:12 I *hate* the Knob Creek seal. I've found that if I twist the tab a time or two before I pull on it, the tape comes off a ton easier. 5:11 The first bottle of Knob Creek I had, which didn't have an age statement, I didn't much care for. A year later I tried again - the 9 year age statement was back, and I loved it. Experience with whisky had taught my palate in the interim. 🥃 7:25 The 12 year is easy to find here in Albuquerque, as is the 9 year. 7:38 Knob Creek expressions are the 9, 12, 15, and 18 year bottles, plus the Single Barrel Select and Single Barrel Reserve.

Well that certainly is a list. A Green River or that Buffalo Trace sitting in the background (I know hard to find... but not impossible) would be a better pick and cheaper than that Basil Hayden.

I agree BT and Green River are great. I kinda figured those are mostly (more readily) available in Kentucky. That was a main reason for not including them. Definitely recommend either one of those for anyone starting their journey of collecting. This video was more intended for those who have never tasted whiskey and want to see if they’ll enjoy it. Stop hating on Woodford. I still consider myself new to bourbon. Ive got around 50 bottles, probably tried 50 or so different ones over the past 3 years. Woodford is by far my favorite for bourbons I can find in any store. I like the sweet stuff. I get why the bourbon snobs don’t like it, it doesn’t smell like gasoline, its not high enough proof to power their model T, and it doesn’t smell like house fire. In all seriousness, great video and good luck with the channel!

Rob , Great video on this as many channels focus on seasoned and/or haz mat , not many are for the tenderfoots out there ! There are a lot of starter bottles but you might have to dust them off from being on the bottom shelf but that is OK with me. I would add Old Fitz Prime , JTS Brown (80) and Quality House or if you need more proof JTS Brown BIB , JW Dant or EW 1783.

My 3 favorites are 100 proof Old Grand-Dad (Basil Hayden is on the label, made in Clermont KY), 100 proof Early Times in the middle of going from Brown Forman to Buffalo Trace in Frankfort KY, and 90 proof Bernheim Original Wheat Whiskey for $31. The other 2 cost a little less, and are aged less than 7 years. For me, more about how I feel the next morning at 65 years old.

Buffalo products pops up more here but they are (some) a high secondary. I saw BT at retail but limit to one every 30 day`s. Now let`s see just how good things get`s !
