Yeah I believe you are correct. They requested the assistance of the ARFF due to the close proximity of it to the airport so it was close by, and the fact that it carried more foam which they reverse pumped to the engines on scene from what I understood or was told. The last time I remember seeing two ARFF's from Burbank respond was a large tanker truck fire in Glendale many years ago where they needed a lot of foam.

Yep, its possible the left only arrow plus the standard green light in that direction were on since that intersection has it setup that way so he may have had the green. Either way his lights n siren were going plus it was late at night so not many cars but yeah I understand usually they come to a slow or stop at reds before clearing through. But I've noticed a lot of the intersections in Glendale have that device on top where it triggers the lights for emergency vehicles. One time an engine with the lights on was stopped to the side right before the a light at the intersection (broadway and brand), and those traffic signals had just stayed green for the direction of the engine for over 7 minutes until the engine cleared before it changed again lol.

Thank you! lol yeah, I didn't realize it when it first drove passed me to the scene. Later as I was recording footage of the equipment, I was like wait a minute, this isn't Glendale's truck 26 it says T11 and it hit me that they must have just that day put it into service.

@@The411RUclips oh lol Glendale Pierce and Burbank Pierce do look alike thought from a far distance until it says Burbank or Glendale Fire they put their New Tiller in service yesterday on the 22 or the 21st of November.

They put a drone up before an aerial… so that tells you where their priorities are .

They almost always extend a ladder to the roof here as well with the first arriving truck, but I'm sure there was a reason they didn't for this call. Could be many things, like the fire was already out by the time the truck arrived, so it was just smoke ventilation from a stove fire, or something else. I wasn't provided too many details on this one so I'm not sure exactly what the cause was or why they didn't extend a ladder but it didn't look like a big fire.

Should always put ladder up. Just good practice. First ladder to the floor with light smoke showing.

Yeah, I was surprised to see it as well. Usually it's used for brush fires from what I've seen. I think they may have been doing some training or on a call and returning back when they heard the call and added themselves to it since there was also that red pickup truck which doesn't have any unit number markings on it which was carrying some off road type equipment on the roof which came on scene as well.

@@The411RUclips I bet you're most likely right. I always thought GLN's E321 was one of their spare older rigs that have that tennis-ball yellow color-scheme; however, I think those trucks are just rotated out to wherever a reserve rig is needed, and get assigned a unit number depending on what they are covering.

@@the_empty_void The reserves are with a 7 in front, so would be 721 for example. However they don't have the lime green ones anymore unfortunately. I liked seeing those around but they replaced them with the red ones and got new ones to replace those reds which are reserves now. :)

Thanks. Yup, I'm hoping to catch one of their other reserve engines which is a few year older model. Not sure which station they designate it for as a reserve but hopefully I will catch it one time before they retire it.

Thanks! Yeah I've seen LA and Burbank/Glendale use it more n more recently. Yes it's a Fotokite tethered drone which flies automatically and doesn't require piloting. This way it can give them areal views of their surroundings and the incident without tying up personnel to operate it.

The drone is a new tool for the GFD just got it within the last few months, they were jealous of GPD cause they had theirs first. The house was red tagged damage in every room.

Well there was just a bunch of smoke, no real flames I could see to record at the time. Also people like to see the equipment arriving as well so I try to get a bit of both when possible.

They were trying to divert and soak up or prevent possible hazardous chemicals from the water run off from entering into the storm drains.

Yeah, they were on the strike team along with Pasadena and Burbank.

It was engine 12 which was browned out (taken out of service temp) but could also have been 16 at one time in the past.

@mren5750 I would hope the owner of the video would know the difference between training and an actual call. If we go by the title of the video, it's a call. And if it's training, they should still move like its a real call because you train the way you fight. Otherwise you end up hurt or dead.

It wasn't training, was an actual call. Once the first engine pulled up on scene, a member of the staff approached them and let them know the situation. So I assume it wasn't a major deal since they ended up extending the ladders to the roof, but only took in ventilation fans. So might have been a small electrical fire or a shorted out appliance which cause some smoke and set off an alarm.

Glendale doesn't have any. Neither do any of the local Verdugo FDs (i.e. Burbank, Pasadena, South Pas, Arcadia, Monrovia, etc). Don't think neighboring LAFD or LACoFD have any either. I guess they just don't see a need to buy one.

@ I’m a retired ff from the St. Louis area and we have towers here but it seems that on the west coast that towers are not popular.

From what I've been told, the tiller trucks have more storage and longer reach as well as are more maneuverable through tight streets and turns. So I guess all that out weighs the need for a tower truck since they already have so many engines which provide water pumping. Plus I would think a longer aerial ladder would be beneficial for high rises in the city.

Yep, a lot has changed though now with all the new high rise apartment buildings and traffic everywhere. Plus I liked their green/yellow engines n trucks which stood out vs them all being red now just like every other city around.

I'm not sure exactly why, but I know the fire trucks (not engines) carry the tools for shutting off the hydrant valves. Also it sorta makes sense that usually a sheared hydrant is because a car hit it, so usually that means a car accident so maybe they've decided its best to send a fire truck for sheared hydrant calls so they get there soon in case of an injury vs having to be called out by water n power afterwards delaying their response. Aside from that, the fire department (yes here in CA) pretty much handles all types of calls for service, from burst pipes in peoples houses to cats stuck in trees etc. :)

Because Water and Power know Fire will do their jobs so they drag their feet

They are the emergency air operations, basically provide additional air tanks and manage air tanks etc.
