The final round of Drift League GB for the 2024 season came to a head once again at Teesside Autodrome. Class 2 saw championship favourite Ryan Burgess complete his dominant season to be crowned champion, despite being knocked out in the top 16. Such was his points advantage. Class 1 was not so clear cut. With a very fine margin separating Martin Wonnacott and Stefan Stefanov, both drivers qual...

Nice one. Keep up good work 🎉
love the colour
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Do you have a link to this kit? I’m interested in buying it. Thanks.
Quality vid mate!! I look handsome from the side 😂
You look handsome from all angles my friend. I could barely contain my underwear all weekend.
@@cpcmotorsportmedia You flatter you 😂
Did u have to get the crash? 🙈😂😂😂 great video 🔥🔥
Absolutely yes I did hahaha! Thanks dude, see you out there again soon!
So sick!
Thanks Rich! Keen to see what you got from the weekend!
EMG pikups needs no shielding, easy swap
The scale would be double the distance from the nut to the 12th fret. PRS guitars used the 25" scale because it was between the Gibson 24.75 and the Fender 25.5 scales.
we don't even get to hear it? pft
Interested video, thank you sharing your build journey. What brand was the kit and where did you get it from please?
Thanks Chris. This kit came from guitarkitfabric dot co dot uk. Cheers!
@@cpcmotorsportmedia Thanks.
This is sick mate🔥
🤘 thank you dude! Got a few bits to send over to you soon!
Good job Chris you done it again
Thanks man! Hopefully some better flying weather next time!
Epic video dude 👌👏
Thank you buddy! See you next time! 🤘
Love it Chris
Thanks dude! Hope to see you out there soon!
Great little video dude :)
Thanks man!
love it mate !
Thank you dude!
YEAH BOY THATS MEEEEEE
Yessir! See you in a few days dude!
Maybe cut the tail end off the fret board to adjust for the pickup?
Exactly!! That's what I was thinking. You run into more problems moving the neck back. You lose surface area for gluing, the heel edge won't be flush with the body and intonation still will be off because the halfway point (12th fret) is now not equidistant.
@32:30 I see "edits" didn't quite make it into the final cut, eh mate? lol I found this whilst poking about on the Tube and I relate fully with the painful bits you had going on. I, too, tried sanding tru-oil and it is not until you get to the final coats (after about 20 coats in fact...and about a month of daily coating) that you very fine wet sand and polish it out after it cures for a week or longer. I think the longer you leave it cure in atmosphere, the better it turns out. I tried 2k Gloss Enamel painting a guitar also, and getting "bits" in the finish is just a part of it unless you take very expensive precautions. Nice job for the first time mate...my first attempt wound up falling 20ft and splitting in half. At which point I ordered another kit, took my clamps and glue and told that fuc*ing thing "Ill be damned if you're going in the rubbish bin".
We'll call it a 'directors cut' shall we..? XD
Yessssss ❤️😍
Never knew you played man, let alone we’re so knowledgeable! Good to hear your style too, I am partial to some 2000’s for sure. I guess I’m going to be watching your other videos tonight haha.
Enjoyed this perspective and style of video! Very natural on camera man. I hope to see you at some point this year I’m sure!
Thanks dude! Really appreciate it. Sure we'll get to catch up soon!
I'm working on a LP Kit.. I enjoy watching people go through what I am. I grew up wood working so that part is fairly easy, but the frets kicked my rear. It really is interesting tackling a project like this. Fair play to ya.
Fret work seems to be a dark art in itself eh. As well as the fun experience for ourselves I think these kits really make you appreciate what a skilled luthier can do.
I agree@@cpcmotorsportmedia
Thank you for posting this honest video you should do more you have a very pleasant manner on screen and you really can play , I can't play guitar but been a chippy for 52 yrs , reason I watched is my GLP style kit arrived a fortnight ago , ordered alternative pickups before it arrived from Axetec { irongear blues engine x 2 } even though I have no idea what is a desirable sound in a pickup { their site has sound demo 's for each pickup and they sounded good to my untrained ear but we will see } Axetec kindly gave me advice too , pots all have very different dc resistances way out just badly made by looking , so also got a jimmy page kit with replacement strings , Im building it as a present for son in law who does play , once again thanks .
Thank you for the kind words, and what a great gift it will make for your son in law! Good luck with your build, I'm sure it'll turn out great. Take your time to enjoy the process.
When you get the strings on you will know if it is BAD or not
Looking good. Instead of sanding to remove the stain or to create lighter areas, use either a little white spirit on a rag (if the stain was oil based), meths if spirit based or water if the stain was water based. You should use a larger cloth too, and when removing stain a lighter coloured one so you can judge how much stain you're removing. If that removes too much, use some dry fine wire wool instead. I dont think you need to worry about shielding humbuckers unlike single coil pickups (as mentioned below).
Great video! I enjoyed the photos.
Next Step.... New Pickups. Suggest Bare Knuckle.
Great suggestion, Im a big fan of how Bare Knuckles sound.
We? We who? I only see 1 of you.
You ve inspired me I went out and bought all the pieces separately then ordered a prs body that had a tremolo want a hard tail so filling that cavadie and moving forward
You know, if I've managed to inspire or help anyone in anyway with these videos I'd call that a resounding success, thank you!
That things pretty, why not put upgraded parts on it. Let's face it when u buy a kit like this your buying the neck and body. The rest is junk
Thanks :) Absolutely, although I think in the future I'll be going for another kit where just the neck and the body are provided, I'll source everything else. Should be a fun winter project!
“Young emo me” 🤣🤣🤣 love it. Where did you get fine grit sandpaper, can’t find it in local DIY shops. And where was the dye from? I’m starting a Les Paul style kit soon!
Hey Andy, have a look for 'wet and dry' paper. If your local DIY places won't do it, ask a local motor factors. The dye came from the same place at the kit, they sell finishing kits as well as the instruments, pop Guitar Kit Fabric into your favourite search engine :) Good luck with the LP build!
I had the same type of kit. Mine didn't have bridge holes. I found the arch of the top was the problem with my bridge. Never could get really low action, but it works. Thanks
I would have sanded a bit more after the red applications that would of lightened it up a bit more, the point of making it your own is all that matters . Great job
Indeed. The wafer thin veneer of this kit was a little limiting on the top. If it had a proper top on it I agree, I would have probably done some more. That said, the dye was sold as 'wine red' and I did fancy quite a deep colour. Cheers for the nice comment!
what screw were you using on your drill
The drill bit is just a standard wood bit. You just need a bit thats a little smaller than the diameter of the threads on the screws.
does it require soldering?
This kit did not, no. Just plug and play connectors, didn't have to get the soldering iron out once.
Looks nice!!!
Cheers, David :)
You should have made a Danolectro or Hello Kitty Walmart.
Ha. I dont hate pink.
Now that its done did moving the neck effect the intonation and tuning? Or is it ok
Hey Jeff. Tuning and intonation are both spot on. I'm glad I measured about 20 times and made those reference marks, otherwise it could have been a different story.
You never mentioned what company you got the kit from. I'd be interested in doing this kit myself!
Hey, I talk very quickly about where I got this kit from in the first video in this series. Use your favourite search engine to look for Guitar Kit Fabric :)
Holy smokes that looks good!
Thank you kindly!
I don’t know if you have heard of them before or not, but Crimson Guitar makes excellent kits. You can have it built too whatever specs you would like. They can be pricey depending on the woods you pick. I bought a PRS kit from them and it is impeccable in my opinion. Well worth the money I spent on it; also they are in the UK. I live in Oklahoma, and I have taken to building guitars from scratch, but I wanted a guitar from Crimson Guitar that I ordered a kit from them, and I’m happy I did. Watching you sand that veneer top the way you did I just knew you would sand through it, you did good on that. There is also House of Tone pickups in the UK that I really like, I have two sets of PU’s for the Crimson kit, and for a custom design guitar I am starting soon in memory of my Son. Check them out you might be a lot more happier with what they have to offer. Cheers.
Hey Larry. I have indeed heard of Crimson! I think I've lost days of my life watching their channel since taking on this first kit!
I appreciate your willingness to explain what worked and what didn't work for you during this build. One quick note: Yes, a lot of the Asian-sourced, "made-in-hurry" screws with such kits are poor quality. Using soap, bees wax, or screw wax on the screw can make snap offs less likely and help seat the screw more easily.
Great job but don't forget to shield the pockets There's a special paint you can use but I personally like copper tape shielding.
Yeah, kit pickups have a bad rep, and they usually deserve it. I've got a new kit arriving later today, and I've already ordered some cheap pickups (Guitar Madness railbuckers, less than $30 shipped) that I know will be an improvement. If you can find the pups pulled from an Epi Special II that someone upgraded from on the used market, those are pretty nice too.
Second hand Epi pups are a good shout!
Hi Chris, well done from sunny Devon! Question: Would you buy another kit to build a Mark Holcomb-esque model, or just buy an SE? What do you see as the pro's / con's of each? Having owned one I can say they are monstrous guitars - for me the price tag of a Fender Tele Deluxe in Miami Blue makes me wince so I'm giving it a go, but a PRS DGT SE in gold... maybe I'd just buy it...? Keen to know your thoughts.
Hey Giles, thanks very much. Just going straight for Holcomb SE certainly has its attraction, I believe Mark himself uses those SE models when Periphery tours, so they are clearly reliable, quality instruments! For me though, I wouldn't be attempting to build a replica, or try and achieve a similar result on a smaller budget, but more take the recipe of the pickups and that style bridge to try and create something 'inspired by.' The string through aspect on Mark's models may be a little tricky without a drill press, a similar style top loading bridge from a third party is an option I'm considering. Tele deluxe vs the DGT would come down to that massive plate covering most of the body on the Fender, that doesn't do it for me, regardless of how it sounds I'm afraid!
Nice Work. Good Looking Dog too. Thanks for Sharing.
Thanks man, some good sounding bikes you've got there too!
@@cpcmotorsportmedia Thank you.
That has got to be the ugliest PRS guitar ever built. What you just proved is that some people should never do anything without someone watching over their shoulder.
Hello Tim. It's a good thing that anything aesthetic is subjective eh? It was never my intention to prove anything, however, since you seem to be interested, I think these couple of videos show that even if you have no experience at something, sometimes just giving something a go can be a rewarding experience, even if others aren't a fan of the finished product. Stay safe.
@@cpcmotorsportmedia Just face it. If not for youtube people like you would never try anything new.
Show us proof of your work
You know, I remember my first build. It was a learning process all the way through. Now that I have a number of builds under my belt, I respect Chris's first attempt being a set neck instead of a bolt-on design. Nicely done, Chris! Keep it going!
@timhallas4275 🛎🔚
The reason why your neck pickup surround didn't sit right is because it's backwards. The thinnest section should be facing the neck on both pickups.
