Bro dont forget the movie with Michael Douglas “The Game” thats where i fell in love with the car first
I love my 97er 740i too, I drive it every day (mileage 604000km). I'm happy every time I drive 😊
These cupholders not hard to fix at all, a little bit of patience basic scales and can be done
What a marvelous car you have❤ 🥒
Nice car! I had the E38 750 1995 in silver and black interior. What a car!
DAmn, that chocolate interior looks amazing, What did they call this?
Wondering it bothers me about my E 38 is the fact that the stereo system is I say crappy the fact that they were still using paper cone speakers is horrible and the sound settings are horrible on an $85,000 vehicle back in the day
@@axjason I agree 100% - I have the DSP system. I’m getting the BAV upgraded speakers in the spring.
Great story I’ve been to Ukraine 4 times during the war to volunteer and my partner is Ukrainian of 3.5 years and i just bought my 2001 E38 740IL , 7 months ago it only has 81,000 miles on it and it was a one owner for a little under 10,000$
0-100 in 5.3 but 1/4 miles at 13.2? What am I missing here?
Dragy verified time, but I missed spoke it was actually 13.41s. The truck would not get off the line...4wd hop and spin, tourque steer, hard shift to second but once it it got moving it pulled crazy to 202kph (delimited), 10spd would bang gears. Rolls were suited for the truck. I would be with a stock mk7 golf r. Example Motor trend, car wow, and many reviewers usually eliminate the 1' roll out so it is 5.08s, if i use their methods. Including the roll out brings it to 5.30.
great job buddy

I bought a Mazda CX50 to be my "winter" car (and when I need more space). By that I mean if there is snow on the ground or salt on the roads. If not, I'll take the GT out. Living on the coast of RI, we don't get a whole lot of snow.
WHY ARE YOU GEY??? haha love the vid bro! Keep eating those carrots!

The E38 is still a class act. We've had a number of BMWs over the years and one of our 'keepers' is an E38 750iL with the 'sport pack'. It still has a working EDC system, though the front shocks are probably due for overhaul. The timing chain 'problems' on the M62 are over-hyped - treat them as a preventative maintenance item around the 200K (kilometres) mark and they are fine in all but the most neglected cars. We've owned a number early S38 engined cars and they need the chains and guides done as a service item every 160K, and it's far more expensive as a job than on the M62, yet no-one ever seems to complain about that. I personally think the E38/39 era was the peak when it comes to the combination of styling, complexity, reliability and gadgets. Our E38 isn't going anywhere.

@@gladiatoralmousa5689 I actually talked about this in my Mazda CX5 video - I hate these elongated digital dashes with no effort to integrate them into the design of the dash. Pre facelift G80 interior was amazing.
I prefer if it's integrated in the dash like a 2016 s class did or back like the bmw f01 LCI intiror. Looks more complete. For example the s650 has quite a large bezel. They could have shrunk the bezel by 1" and the dash would integrate well with the screen

That's a cool storey. I've been around many bmw's some will treat you well while others won't. I find your best ownership experience with them are the ones with a good story and you work/ research issues yourself. Shops seam to see the roundel and up the nonsense weather it's price or how they work on them. Glad you got it sorted before any more nonsense was replaced
A viewer originally from Eswatini and living in the UK here Gray. Wow, Yuri is such a guy and this hilarious story made me subscribe. At least you knew what you wanted to buy and what you were buying. I was clueless when I bought my year 2000 BMW 740i E38 in October 2013. At the time I had a Toyota Harrier V6, 3.0. I really loved that SUV. Unfortunately, that October it failed the MOT and the garage in London wanted £3,000 to replace the broken part. I was prepared to just pay but my Japanese wife, who was not emotionally attached to the car like I was, told me to get rid of it. So I cried and just abandoned my beloved car at the garage for disposal. My wife, who knows nothing about cars, then saw the E38 being sold on a UK auction website which Japanese people living in the UK use to sell stuff, mainly when they are going back to Japan after their stay in the UK. I did not know much about BMWs at the time except I'd had people telling me that they handle well on the road. I also did not know that a 740 has a 4.4l petrol engine, but when I found that out I was excited because I know that the bigger the better and I had really enjoyed the 3 litre Toyota Harrier. Ignore the cost of petrol for now😀. The E38 was initially advertised for £2,600, so I went there hoping to pay that price. Unfortunately, it turned into a bidding war between me and another guy who wanted to buy it for his girlfriend. I finally won the bid and got it for £4,200. Along the way I also found out that the engine management light was on. The car was in immaculate condition and had done about 23K miles. The owner was a Japanese businessman who ran a property rental business in London. He used to live in Japan and the car was only used to chauffeur him around when he happened to be visiting London about three times a year. It was after I'd had the car for a few days that I became interested in it and its history. I was shocked when I realised what I had in my possession. It turned out to be a blessing that my dear wife who had pressured me to get rid of my beloved Toyota Harrier has no clue about cars because if she knew what a V8 is she would have put a stop to the whole madness🤣. By the way after losing my Toyota Harrier I got smarter about keeping my car business out of my wife's ears. Now if something needs fixing in my E38, I don't discuss it with her because she would faint if she knows how much the car has cost me in maintenance over the past 11 years. Actually, the car has been largely well behaved until about in late 2021 when coolant leaked from the thermostat into the DME and fried it. It got very expensive because several garages could not figure out the root cause of the problem and kept on changing crankshaft sensors etc. We only finally figured it out when I did my own research and asked the mechanic to open the ECU box. Please don't get me started on mechanics who just change parts and hope that eventually one part will fix it! So that's the story of how I got my E38. I call it my accidental E38 and you can see a video of it on my channel here on RUclips. It's done about just over 67K miles now. I love it so much and from time to time I get strangers in traffic approaching me randomly admiring and asking questions about it.

@@GrayHuska I am getting snow tomorrow in South Jersey and as long as it's no more than 2/3 inches of snow I'll be taking my GT into work... As long as you set them up into comfort mode and short shift them you are good.. You have to drive it slow like an old caddy from the 70's.. And like he said it's the stopping you have to worry about most of all.. As long as you are going slow with good all season tires and babying the car you are good to go.. Obviously you can't push snow with it but it's fine the day after the plows are out or up to about 3/4 inches and remember it's an LSD so you will have posi traction once a wheel starts to spin..
@ agreed! That’s awesome 💪🏼
If you live anywhere they salt the roads, never buy an NA car. Ford, GM, Chrysler, all rust to hell within 3 salty winters.
@@philh8829 BMW & Mercedes are basically the only cars that barely rust - You see 20+ year old ones that are spotless. The NA & Japanese just wanna screw you with scammy rust proofing in the finance office 😂

Dude. Mustangs were meant to be daily driven. Maybe you’d be more comfortable in the kitchen
@@19hundoc47 HAHA 👨🏼🍳 Yes I know that, but sadly many people in Canada think you “Need” as SUV or NPC car. I wanted to provide an owners perspective to showcase that you can indeed daily a muscle car.
I can say majority of people don't think the same. The amount of 'u must be nuts' I get at a gas station in winter with this car is astronomical. Then i always follow up with it's actually pretty good.
Tobacco Brown interior its probably an individual model; check the drivers apron at the shock tower. Check the power steering lines under the exhaust manifold if the car has SLS as the line can explode with spectacular force. China tail lights are gonna give the canbus a shit fit. Currently have 4 of these cars and I prefer the extended IL as the short sport feels too much like my E39's just larger. Gonna get lots of remarks about changing timing chains on the M62TU most are unfounded. Replace the two check valves for the vanos gears behind the vanos solonoids and do the tensioner............these motors go well over 250k on original guides if the motor was looked after with proper oil changes. Wood trims are veneer set on an aluminumn backer........its just the clear coat that cracks they can be refinished. Nice car. Cheers
Hey brother! Not an individual & I also have coil overs. The lights (which I bought it with) are giving me a few little issues such as codes. Appreciate the insight! Enjoy your collection!
The car was originally optioned with the edc system not sls. It's seam the original owner wanted a more sporty luxury car baised on the options.
@ which is pretty cool!
manual is the only way i like these cars (the s650) personally
@@Michael-Ambarossa I agree - Americans really lack with engaging automatics. You need a manual to make it feel like a muscle car should.
@GrayHuska yeah it's 1000% the control for me as well. I've test driven both and manual feels miles better. Automatic feels sluggish and you have to mess around with the settings for a while until it's set up to how you want. I tried dogging the automatic and it felt insanely sluggish.
@ I haven’t driven the auto but Owen rented one one as well as a manual S550 from Turo & he agrees!
@@Michael-Ambarossafor me the manual feels faster even though it is not. With the auto I was left board and felt the car wasn't as as fun or special. By far in the mustang it's the best tuning of the 10spd tho and she moves.
