    Take the headspace challenge. Test the headspace of 500 new and 500 used bolts. Test them assembled and disassembled and tell me if you get different results on a single one of them. The need to disassemble a bolt to test headspace is a myth. I have been doing this for 45 years and never ever have seen a bolt show different results if not disassembled. Change my mind.

    I bought a power springs kit and it came with a really small spring which I have no clue where it goes and on your gun you don't state or show any small less than a half inch coiled spring...?? Any idea or maybe it went on a different earlier model of the Mauser 1914..?

    I know your going to say I wouldn't advice it.but I shortened an Mosin Barrell without for thought.but I'm going to attempt reinstalling the cut piece.im not a gunsmith but have extensive machining experience.i will document it and send it to you.i will most likely use an hardened sleeve and thread the inside of the sleeve and thread the connecting portions of the barrell.i know it sounds rediculous but I've seen stupid things like this actually work.i will however bench test from afar extensively.

  • @lurebenson7722
    @lurebenson7722 Месяц назад

    I was using the Barns X bullets in 6 calibers from the start of them and now I only shot the TSX - TTSX - LRX for hunting game so I've never had a problem with a loss of accuracy. I am also not looking for competition match shooting accuracy because the 6-inch area on a deer or large like Elk or Yukon Alaska Moose is a kill zone when I am shooting large caliber magnum that that wreck the vitals of any animal's organs, and I am shooting rifles with a start of 4500 + Foot pounds of energy. I do when I can use the New Powders that devolve copper fouling. For large rifles I often use the 6.5 Stable with copper remover or the CFE-223 or CFE black those have chemical copper remover. Now when buying powders, I do look for the powders with the chemical copper removers

    sometimes my spring loaded plunger is depressed at rest and the firing pin is poking through the hole behind the primer. like the back of the firing pin that's supposed to be stopped by the plunger rests on top of it after a reset instead of locked back behind it. Would this be a concern? I sent it to Sig and explained that too them and they said it's fine but it doesn't make sense then why it would ever block it if its ok to rest on it?

    I recently picked up a bore scope and had a look in my old Remington 742 30-06 from 1968. The barrel had copper buildup mostly in the last 8 inches that looked like copper ice flows laying on top of the rifling. I took it down to bare metal over the course of a week because i am going to try some solid coppers for the first time. The barrel has mostly seen nosler partions but still has a nice chamber and throat. Bore scopes are awesome. Hopefully, those solid coppers will be too. The bad news, i had a look inside my Marlin model 60 22lr (long tube mag) and found fire cracking from the start of the rifling to the end of the barrel. That is a lot of rounds and many dead squirrels, still a usefull rifle though.

    I hunt white tails and Hogs here in south Mississippi and for the last 5 years I have used Barnes bullets in all of my hunting rifles and I haven’t lost a single animal most drop in there tracks. I’m a believer. My favorite is a Barnes 160 TTSX in my 338 Federal at 3000FPS it’s a hammer

    • @patrickseekins1299
      @patrickseekins1299 Месяц назад

    • @CharlesLambert-h5s
      @CharlesLambert-h5s Месяц назад

      @ in my savage 110 storm 50gr of 8208XBR yields 3000FPS. That is just over max load and I’d would walk up to it slowly. Mine holds about 3/4 moa

    • @patrickseekins1299
      @patrickseekins1299 Месяц назад

      Mine is a Kimber Montana. it weighs 6lb1oz with scope! So i load down to reduce recoil. With the thin barrel, mine more like 1 MOA. But at ranges that don't exceed 150yrds (and VERY RARE at that, 1 MOA fine.

    • @CharlesLambert-h5s
      @CharlesLambert-h5s Месяц назад

      @ completely understand, I’ve shot whitetails and wild pigs out to 400 with mine with great results I run a Bushnell DMR2 scope which is a tank and my rifle and scope come in at about 10lbs so it’s not bad with recoil. I don’t walk a lot with it I mostly hunt big fields and cut overs from box stands with good rest. I have a Browning x bolt stalker with a vx3 in 308 that I use if I have to hike a while it’s around 7.5lbs

    I have shot 1,000’s of Barnes 168gr ttsx through my 30-06. . As far as copper build up. I have seen a lot of copper build up. But that’s due to the amount of of ttsx and tax bullets I have used over the years. Every one e and a while it’s good to remove the copper build up. You’re not going to get all the copper out. As far as accuracy goes. 1/4” inch at 100yd 1/2” to 3/4” at 200yd 1”- 1 1/2 at 300yd. Barnes ttsx and tax 168gr is what I hunt with.

  • @timothyorendorff7642
    @timothyorendorff7642 Месяц назад

    Yes, watch for build up but the gun community tends toward fanaticism on many things. You want barrel imperfections “ironed” over. Also, the gilding metal used for cup and core bullets can scrape a monolithic bullet so I just shoot copper solids in my rifle. It would be good to clean if going from one to the other. IMHO
