C5 Corvette broken windshield washer fitting cheap and easy fix

GM no longer supplies this part, so I used a small length of "oil pressure gauge" plastic pipe to reconnect the washer hose to the cowl fitting.

Yes because you probably have used old saggy springs not anymore same size as new. I buyed 2inch bilstein b8 5100 shocks, 2inch spacer lift and new oem springs and should be fine..
Beautiful bike. Nice work
What is your name on the astro safari forum? Mine is the same as here
I'm not on the forums. Just here. I have a couple other videos on another channel called WAR offroad. Here's a couple links to those that may be interesting to you. If you browse their video library you will see even more of me offroading and showcasing the van. Thanks! ruclips.net/video/Ps2mXvE-jyo/видео.html ruclips.net/video/htSDsnsPg6k/видео.html
Great vid man. This will be my 2nd time doing it. I love the concept that "I wont have to touch the van for years" that we all seem to want so bad to believe LOL.
Any tips for getting the spacer plates in and still getting the holes to line up? I’m doing mine one side at a time and when I lower the engine back down the holes don’t line up quite right. Edit: just read your comments on one of the comments here and I’m going to try loosening up everything so I can get a little more movement as I try to install
If the attention becomes too overwhelmning just let me know. I'll do ya a solid and take it off your hands.
LOL, after watching the video again, now I know why I purchased 2 pair.....only used 1 pair! Thought I made a mistake buying 2! HAHA!!
How did it turn out for you? -Eric
@@ericschulte1853 I'm finishing a rebuild on my 7.25 IFS front differential. Therefore, I have not driven the van, yet! Crush sleeve and backlash tomorrow....Test drive Wednesday!
That sucked! I had the front differential out and it was still a PITA! The top 15mm bolt, especially on the passenger side, was extremely challenging! Trying to get the threads started with the 1/4" plate between the frame and clam shell was tough! Just knowing that I have poly inserts and how burly they are, gives me peace of mind! I may have a noticeable vibration while at a stop light, but I also have 315K miles on the van...not sure if they are related. At the end of the day, I'm relieved that I have plenty of space between the Axle tube and Oil pan! Therefore, Success!....You did that 3 times? You are hardcore and have a lot of Patience! THANKS
I just finished the exact same procedure with the 1/4” plates from Summit. Is it imperative that I shim my transmission mount 1/4” ? Thanks!….I don’t ever, ever want to do this again!✌️✔️
The trans shim is only necessary if there are clearance issues with the front driveshaft, or if you have a new wobble on acceleration from the minor change in rear driveshaft u-joint angles. If everything feels normal, then generally I'd not be concerned with shimming the trans.
I am going to check my driveshaft angles to make sure they are in spec with an inclinometer. I feel a vibration. I rebuilt my front, rear differential and NP136 transfer case in addition to new Spicer U-Joints. Vibration could be from anywhere. ✌️
Ok, I have a vibration of some sort. If I shimmed the engine mounts 1/4”, wouldn’t logically, I need to shim the transmission mount the same? Then, check the New U-Joints from the driveshaft at my rebuilt NP 136 transfer case, driveline angle, then Pinion angle? Right? There’s a U-Joint phasing video on RUclips from Weber University that is very informative….I’m not trying to hijack your video!…..Just chasing a vibration ✌️
@@BigZaddy2112 describe your vibration to me. During accel? All the time? High speed cruising? Just idling? If it is a driveline vibe, definitely will be exaggerated during acceleration and at higher speeds. With some good detailed descriptions I may be able to offer some analysis. I chased many different vibes in mine.
“It’s a terrible job.” I knew there had to be a reason I’ve spent the day NOT doing it Thanks for the tips
Beautiful build! The color is just awesome. I own a kz1000 and had it painted in a similar color in 1996 or so. Never going to change it😅
RC joints and sway bar disconnects are garbage. Save your $ and buy Jonny joints and JKS quick disconnects
Looks great! Can you post a video of how the pipes sounds?
I'll definitely have some questions. Acquired a completely disassembled '78, all in a cardboard box. Looks to be all here minus the gas tank. Your KZ looks amazing! Great work! Salute
Realy nice BIKE!
Thanks! I rode it for a while then sold it to buy something bigger. Definitely regret that!
I recently bought a 1970, 911T, and the first upgrade I will make is exactly what you recommend to do in your video. Thanks.
Came out awesome! 👍👍👍💥😎
Thanks Very Much!! Been looking for an answer for a long time.
glad to help. Mine are still trouble-free two years later!
Thanks for the advice...going to do the same but already received the Prothane 7-521 motor mounts in addition to the Anchor trans mount. We shall see!
I believe the engine and frame numbers will start or end with "20" if it's an Atlas.
Spot on! "20" is the designation I found stamped into the frame as well as the engine case. Further research of the specific serial number puts this Atlas at 1965. Thanks for the input.
The guy I bought it from thought is was a later Mercury, thus my confusion in the video.
I am resurrecting a very early Atlas. I bought it as a box of parts. The con rod bearings were down to the copper. The oil tank had 1/4 inch of gunk and the screens were mostly blocked. Suggest you check the oil lines etc on both bikes before trying to start, unlike those asses on RUclips. " Will it start after 40 years!" @@ericschulte1853
Did you ever get the car running again?
Do you still have the renegade, I would to snag it from you.
I know a lot about trains
Is that all on stock tire size?
I've got the same problem. Replaced both tie rod ends, drag link ends and track bar. Problem still exists. Today I will replace the damper and I have a full set of control arms on the way.
I have to ask… where did you get the sound board and speaker? That bell “dinging” sound is perfect. I’d love to add this to my gates…
I found it on ebay for a very reasonable price. it was a sound chip with speaker and was easy to wire in. Has 7 different selectable sound choices.
I am looking at EV ing a 1978 Ranchero, would love to talk sometime... I am in San Diego CA...
Love that little 2002 in the background! or 1600/1800 or whatever it may be. That's the dream. 2002 with roundies and a 2.5 M20 swap and a WJ w/ a small lift. That's all you need!
Damn, that’s a cool jacket
I had the same problem with the same jeep and same lift. Ended up changing the damper, problem solved. 20 bucks at the auto store with a lifetime warranty
Did you need to use hardened push rods and/or install guide plates?
I was able to reuse the stock push rods, even after checking the pattern, they were spot-on. No guide plates needed either.
@@ericschulte1853 Okay, I kinda figured. Thanks for the quick reply!
Just about to add a 2" Rough Country lift kit w/ Shocks as you did. Do you remember the length of the limit straps you put on the front of your WJ? I see Amazon sells them 12"-25" and it would be great if you can tell me what YOU used.-Thanks, Bob
pro comp 11.5" straps from Summit Racing.
Thanks-I listened to the video again and you DID mention 11.5", but I didn't hear it the first time around. Thank-you.
I use TerraFirma shocks with the 2" lift soacers abd they are precisely 2" more travel than thna standard shocks
So cool I like it!
Thats awesome. So good to see a child that is occupied with something besides technology
yeah that's the plan! Trying to instill the value of the simple things in life for sure. Thanks for watching!
Hey @ericschulte1853 , now that you've had some time with this setup, are you still liking it?
Yes! It's been more than a year since I went back to rubber and added these plate spacers and they are still working perfect. I haven't had to give any thoughts to a sagging engine resting on the front axle.
@@ericschulte1853 awesome, thanks for sharing!
Sorry to pester you about this again, but one more question. I know you switched back to engine mounts with rubber bushings but it wasn't clear which trans mount you went with. Are you running the energy suspension poly mounts or did you switch to a rubber transmission mount also? Thanks a ton!
No a bother at all! Rubber trans as well.
I'll just keep this thread going in case anyone else follows along. I've been working on this job for the last few evenings and I've got the plates and new passenger side mount in but I can't get the center bolt holes to line up for the new mount on spacers on the driver's side with the stock engine brackets. I'm using two spacer plates per side like you recommended and the AC Delco rubber mounts. I noticed that you used the trans dapt ones, not sure if that would make much difference v the ones in using. With the decrease in distance between mounts that the plates create, how did you get everything to line up? Did you use the stock engine brackets or aftermarket? Thanks for helping out with this!
So starter needs to come out god damn I thought this would be easy Thankyou for the tips
An umbrella still was removed in the new one, was a positive seal. I thought the guide boss needed to be machined specifically for those seals.
I've used cotton clothes line fed into the spark plug hole with the piston about halfway up then rotated up with a breaker bar.
Just picked one of these up today. Not running. Cant wait to get it going then redo it kinda like yours
Get the adjuster tool from Pelican. $100, but worth it.
you need spring retainers on the inside of the spring mounted the body
Do you put limiting straps on the rear?
No, I have found that the rear is not prone to losing a spring.
So it was the tie rod ends or the control arms
New tie rod ends resolved my death wobble.
Is it possible for the spring to pop out if you don´t remove the swaybars? Or will the sway bars hold it in place safe?
Hard for me to say. I had a 2004 WJ with 2" spacer lift but kept the stock shocks and the sways were always connected. Never had a spring pop on that one. Thanks for watching!
UPDATE!!!!
just added a two-year update vid! Thanks for watching
@@ericschulte1853 my hero ❤️
Love the car! I have a 62, which i want to convert. Where can I find more info?
I have a whole video series on my channel pretty much from start-to-finish for you to get more info from. Thanks for watching!
Why would you have to replace the block I have a 383 stroker with afr heads and an accel superram using the stock block
I think i'm going to do this and also fill the new motor mount voids with window weld.
Nice to see real world results of the renegade and other mods to these crossfires. You will get it figured out. Thanks for posting this.
