Hi folks! Welcome to my channel. I'm studying Music at the moment. For now the focus of this channel is going to be to post more drum covers. Be sure to subscribe, there will be more content soon! I consider requests for transcriptions / drum covers, so feel free to leave a message. I recently joined the band TerraDown (link below). There will be new music featuring my drum work in the near future!

GoPro recording of "Enigma" from my perspective. Recorded in Trafalgar, Indiana during Finals week 2017.
What is a d#7b9 chord???
I was fighting to transcribe this myself, and was directed here by Reddit. Thank you! Those little hiccups like the 8th tuplet of bar 3 and the nested triplet on the 7th tuplet in bar 4 were throwing me for a loop; Didn't quite know how to notate it. As I was listening, I tried to hear how he was phrasing/grouping the notes. Bars 3 & 4 I was feeling as if he was playing a bar of 5/8, and 6/8, but at a new tempo that was metrically modulated. How would you feel those tuplets if you were going to play them?
Right at the end of the solo, the sheer swagger to adjust the glasses. What a master!
Thanks for this very helpful 👍
😅
how tf do you play eleventuplets?
Its a little bit misleading to show them as eleventuplets. The physical education guitar chugs hit on a pattern (in 16th notes) of: 67676 This makes 32 total which allows it to be felt as 4/4. The modulation Matt plays basically puts 4 16th notes where the 6’s are, and 5 16th notes where the 7’s are. Thats why it feels like it slows down. 45454 = 22, which is where the 11 comes from. This shift from 6 -> 4 and 7 -> 5 isnt a perfect ratio, meaning the new 16ths slightly speed up and slow down. But, Matt’s own words, “it’s close enough to ‘bastardize’ it into sounding as one smooth pulse.” Hope that helps.
that’s a great quote. sounds like something along the lines of “learn the rules like a pro, so you can break them like an artist”, and that’s jazz/prog af
@@brohan24 for sure, it’s one of the sickest modulations I’ve heard and fits the nature of the song perfectly. Just learning his thought process for it alone made me a better and more creative player in what I write. This is one of those instances where his MIDI programming skills def programmed it to hear if it would be cool before he ever tried to play it.
I am happy he did again this modulation in 11 for the playthrough, because it sounds marvelous. Great transcription, man!
Thank You!! Awesome!
Amazing.
bro nested the nested tuplets
Ngl thats kinda a cursed setup
Why/how?
@boudewijnlamper Ive been accustomed to a glock mounted on the xylo And it makes sense for you because you have a really good pedal glock, but still kinda goofy to look at lol
@@rocinanteferox4267 Having the setup in reverse (with the pedal glock) makes much more sense though. I was once a member of a group in which the glock player had to manually mute his notes on the glock with his fingers. A pedaled glock is more logical.
@boudewijnlamper Maybe sometimes I'm only a high school student so I'm not exactly an expert, but in my FE we have an old Deagan glock mounted on an acoustalon xylo With decently soft mallets that blend with the vibes well, he doesn't have to mute at all Honestly though the horizontal setup sounds most convenient
@@rocinanteferox4267 I guess it depends on the context, and in some cases it might indeed not make much of a difference. Still, if the option is there, a pedaled glock gives you more musical possibilities/enhancements.
thank u for the SHEET MUSIC to this been looking all over for it god bless u!!
What even are these rythyms, triple-nested quints or what I can’t even to begin to understand
where tab guitar man want tab
Thanks for the notes, now my daughter can play this on her recorder.
what are these ancient symbols
You know guitar players can't read this
Guitar players can’t also play guthrie stuff 😂😂
Jazz/symphonic wind player here. That run at the end sounded like it had some jazz influence. Love the solo, i dont listen to much rock but the way this solo plays with the music and the interesting chord progressions spark my interest.
ooooo and that hip meter change percussion weirdness stuff at 0:45, I love that
[̲̅p][̲̅r][̲̅o][̲̅m][̲̅o][̲̅s][̲̅m] 🙄
lekkah bezig Boudewijn
Super good drumming
Ah. Too bad I can't read sheet music lol.
Is that Henrik Linder on bass?
Yes it is
🔥🔥🔥
Baie lekker maan
Insane
i would like to buy this transcription.
Sure thing! You can email me at boudewijndrums@gmail.com. Just tell me what country you're located and we can set up a price.
How did you transcribe that? Only by ear?
A combination of ear, piano and an app called “Transcribe!”. If you’re into analyzing music Transcribe! is a great tool that helps you find notes and chords, and slow down and loop parts.
@@boudewijnlamper Thank you
Nice ... and thumbs up for u!
Wow amazing lead
Когда Гован не заигрывается в свой любимый шред, он играет лучшую музыку.
Great Job ..... and as Carl Verheyen said (Tabs are for pussies)
I'm so confused. Why the 5:3 in 5 at measure 10 instead of 16th note quintuplets? Other than that, a very impressive transcription!
Because that wouldn't be accurate. Eldar is playing 5-note groupings within the time span of 3 16th note quintuplets. Another (in retrospect, perhaps easier) way to transcribe this is by using dotted 32nd note quintuplets. These last exactly as long and then you wouldn't have to use nested tuplets.
@@boudewijnlamperWhat? I got even more confused with your explanation.
@@bazingacurta2567 What part of my answer is unclear to you? I'll try my best to explain it.
@@boudewijnlamperI understand it now. It's just a fiendishly complex rhythm. Now I'm wondering how the hell you managed to figure this out.
@@boudewijnlamper This is great work, man! What software do you use to transcribe, if I may ask?
At first I was like okay, cool. Then came 7plets, I was like oh nice. From the middle to the end I was like what the fuck. If this is improvised I have no words. Great transcription.
Thanks! And yes, this solo is improvised! Be sure to check out his own trio. I haven't seen anyone play like him, he should be way more famous than he is.
See guys? 4/4 can be cool too.
For as far as you can call this 4/4 hahaha
@@MeDoMeer it is 4/4 tho
Dude what
Respect!
Netjaaaas
Amazing that you did this! Love that you chose this song. I really wish this song was on an album
Thanks! Me too, I was so excited to wait for them to release a record and tour :(
holy shit how long did this take you?
I think I got most of it down in 10 hours, but getting the chords and harmonic analysis right probably took another 10!
@@boudewijnlamper great stuff
man this is awesome! I've been trying to learn this song since last week (not the solo).....btw, do you have the transcription for the full song? thanks!
Thanks! I'm sorry, I only transcribed the solo :(
👏 Bravo!!!
