"Men are born for games. Nothing else. Every child knows that play is nobler than work. He knows too that the worth or merit of a game is not inherent in the game itself but rather in the value of that which is put at hazard. Games of chance require a wager to have meaning at all. Games of sport involve the skill and strength of the opponents and the humiliation of defeat and the pride of victory are in themselves sufficient stake because they inhere in the worth of the principals and define them. But the trial of chance or trial of worth all games aspire to the condition of war for here that which is wagered swallows up game, player, all."

Morality in Movies - High Fidelity
In this episode we cover my favorite movie, High Fidelity. Steeped in deep metaphor with a heavy helping of positive morality, this film is about more than just dating; but also the inner-workings of the male mind. Its brutal honesty and artistic cinematography meld with the absolutely transcendent soundtrack to create a watching experience that feels like reading Lord Byron at a rock concert.

Imma be in the next livestream I’ve been gone for a hot minute 😬Merry Christmas brooooooooo I hope you have a fantastic time with your family/family during the holidays💪😎👍
You can do it dude.
I did off stream! Fantastic game.
That gave me pause to think while taking a long walk on a cold evening. Thank you. - A probably too angry wolf
Thanks for watching! Hopefully I did Nick Hornby justice.
I like turtles
I only like the teenage mutant ones
youtube autoplay blessed me with this hidden gem. im surprised it doesnt hav emore views man, absolutely great!
Thank you! It will hopefully reach further throughout the week.
The B-Roll on this was way more in-line with the subject matter being discussed. I think your anecdotes and analyses are useful. My personal 'High Fidelity' movie is 'Punch-Drunk Love'.
I love punch drunk love. So underrated.
@@TheRetrostorian It was the movie I most resonated with, when I was a high-school senior. Incidentally, I also was working at Blockbuster Video at the time.
@@CarletonTorpin Blockbuster was my favorite job. I'd work there again lol.
@@TheRetrostorian 100% agree.

Great game
It kills. I can't stop playing.
I can't stand Williams but you got me wanting to watch this lol
It's a good movie!
Verts are weird
They just land wherever 😂
@TheRetrostorian protip, when in a vert, use the map to keep it in the air. It's hard, but gets you the minigun. It's a fun game you can play. Watch out for boats and water. I killed Swan in a vert
@@bearb1asting Good tip! I wish it had more options like holding patterns. And that it was a little more durable. Although falling out of an exploded vertibird in power armor is fun. 😃
@@TheRetrostorian it's true. They didn't do all they could have. Maybe there's a mod for it? But I've used it to do a lot of things.
You're a monster
Nice keep it up bro. Multi worded bump for the win.
Stimpack Sunday!!!
MAGA does not want girls to be educated. MAGA does not like girls getting educated in science, especially biology, and mathematics - they want to control girls and women's bodies with a puritanical ardour that borders on questionable obsession. No sane person wants paedophiles having access to children. Paedophiles are the worst mentally ill people that exist. What concerns me is an undercurrent that was expressed in Shakespeare's words " he doth protest too much". Much like the politicians who are strongly anti-homosexual yet are later revealed to be revelling in homosexual sex. Ministers and priests thundering about the moral sanctity of children, with the inference that liberal are subverting their sexual development ... It all seems to be whipping up hysteria to find ways to punish women who want to control their own bodies and to let their children know that their genetically determined sexual preference whether heterosexual or any other inclination is theirs from birth. Acceptance and respect is key. Strangely, there are closeted men in churches and right wing politics who are virulently and publicly opposed to homosexuality but must hide it from their congregations and voters. Gay left wingers just accept who they are and act like consenting adults , and announce they are gay. They can be true to themselves and their nature's, and are not particularly bother by healthy sexual preferences. However, paedophiles are not acceptable because they harm children. Being gay does not equate to paedophilia, gay men and woman are both equally disgusted by paedophiles and agree that they should be behind bars. I remember hearing a National Public Radio interview in 1993 with a self identified Fundamentalist Christian Police Chief, regarded as the national expert in so-called Satanic Ritual child abuse. As he was interviewed he said that as he investigated cases of alleged Satanic Ritual Abuse he was greatly surprised to discover: 1) he could not find the evidence of a national Satanic network, even though he absolutely believed it was real, as an article of faith 2) one of the consistent marks of serial killers was a strict Christian fundamentalist upbringing by emotionally and physically abusive, violent parents 3) paedophilia was always present in reclusive, closeted, Christian communities 4) biased investigations by panicked parents and law enforcement asking loaded questions channeled children to testify with stories the parents and law enforcement wanted to hear. He found this to be as dangerous as real and actual paedophilia but in a different way This police chief was distraught to discover these points above. He said his investigations indicated that there were three types of paedophile networks: 1) "ordinary folks" who were often easily tracked and caught 2) mobile predators who lived on the road travelling to stay ahead of law enforcement, snd 3) the 'untouchables' - very, very wealthy men who were difficult to prosecute due to their social status (or extreme wealth), religious and political connections This is where the paedophilia ring exist now, people with their own planes, flying themselves and underage girls to private islands, or private resorts or other such tightly controlled locations.
It's called satire. It is a simple spoof of Barney. It inflates what you see, and when you do it well, you expose what others don't talk about.
When I first saw "Fight Club" and "Red Dragon", I was wondering what was this movie is about that feature Edward Norton and Robin Williams, and I didn't know it's one of the funniest, yet crazy movies I have seen in my life
If I was a movie critic I would call it "Delightfully Unhinged" 😆
I recently read the script for this. Very interesting and spot on.
It hits different after the nickelodeon documentary.
What pc do you have for that to not crash when you even pressed the button😭
It’s one of The endings to the game, almost all consoles or pcs and handle it
I'm on a PS5
@@Dragon_Cheese1945I don’t hink most pcs can handle that
@@EXIVYE I’ve played and beaten the game, with that ending, with multiple mods running
@ I didn’t say none could I just said most can’t, mine can’t even open fallout 3 because I cheated out when I bought it, but you might have a really good one
Danny Devito's presentation of films is an interesting one for me. I saw this when I was a young teen and thought it had the same dark comedic punches as Matilda. Then I realized he directed both, and I love both movies. That rocketship spiel will live rent free in my head forever LMAO
Danny Devito is so talented. He's one of my favorite people.
I found this movie by accident on HBO or something late night it was pretty bad cheesy but I liked it. HA almost a real smooth operator there 2:38
It's very campy for sure, I think if it was dialed back any the subtext would be too dark to get a laugh. Sheldon is cheesy and we see through his eyes 😆 you can tell RW really ran into that wall for real that man did so much to make us smile.
@@TheRetrostorian I had to rewatch that movie it was cheesy but I enjoyed it a lot. I cant be the only person to think the Mervin Green is a stand in for Wine beer Stein harvey. Looks like him giant powerful producer. The real wow is just 6 year prior norton was in American History X. Same person 1
Yo, I'd be in the game three times
Well thanks for being around!
I love this movie, probably one of my favourite Robin Williams' film (right behind Hook), and is my favourite Edward Norton film, also Tommy is my favourite Pam Farris character, totally surpasses Trunchbull. I too was 14 in 2002 (go 88 babies (or 89, depends when you turned 14 lol). It makes me sad that not a lot of people have even heard of Death to Smootchy. I forced my husband to watch it, after I found out he never saw it, he really liked the film. We agreed that it probably didn't do well was because it was too head of its time...but as I typed this, I was thinking about what you about Epstien, Diddy, and Nickelodeon and I just had a thought...What is the movie bombed, because these types of corperations, caused sabotage to make it fail, like less ads, so less people saw and maybe thinks they were like this.
88 is the best! 😆 That's exactly the though I had. It has 3 of the biggest names in Movies of all time and barely anybody has watched it, and anyone I know that has watched it, loves it. Now I'm not saying it was throttled, but it kind of seems like it was throttled. We are on the same page there.

@@TheRetrostorian I am old, so way cool!!
A few christmases ago someone opened a present and it was a wine stopper and i said " aww cool a buttplug" and my cousins boyfriend side"Its a rocketship."
One of my favorite dark comedies. I keep a list of recommended movies on my whiteboard in my office (a conversation starter I've used ever since I worked in a video store in the early 00's) and Death to Smoochy sits near the top of the list
It's one of those not a lot of people saw for some reason, I mean, Robin Williams, Ed Norton, and Danny Devito how could they? It's always a movie I recommend.
Hollywood is awful and it has been corrupted a while, maybe always. And it’s not even a secret, Scream 3 called attention to it 20 years ago. But either most of us (me included) look the other way because we love and were raised on film and TV or people actually don’t realize all that exploitation is very real. Smoochie is excellent btw, arguably William’s best role.
Robin makes the movie. Anyone else couldn't have sold that role. Randolph is both loveable and hilarious while also filling you with dread whenever he's on screen. I think we were just young, our parents should have been the one to blow that whistle but now we'll do it for them.
Interesting
It's a montage of the journey!

I don't remember the name, but a shotgun that does bleeding damage (I think it's wounding, not sure) will count every pellet as an addition 25 bleeding damage, and it will continuously stack with each hit. I over did it my first playthrough by a LOT
Wounding was the prefix and it's op af
