Advocacy for Children and Families who endure Hemispherectomy Brain Surgery to treat intactible seizures
LosetheTrainingWheels
Lose The Training Wheels™ is more than just a bike-riding program. For many children with disabilities, its a seemingly impossible task they can typically master in less than a weeks time. Within days of learning to ride, many children exhibit independent behaviors for the first time ever. This achievement, in turn, creates a gateway of opportunity, helping them gain assurance and self-reliance in many other aspects of their lives.

Seems like they’re throwing away good meat. I think we’ll look at this procedure in the future like lobotomy. Cutting out half of the brain for some electrical activity seems much too excessive as disruptive as seizures seem to be. Perhaps the children will outgrow them. Better off avoiding unnecessary intervention.

Heh
Even after half brain removed , how can she remember everything . Does that mean that memory is stored in some other way reather then being stored as connections of neurons
If anybody reads then plz reply
@@Kumarrohan67 She remembers because the hippocampus, the "memory center" of the brain if you will, is a bilateral structure which means it is found on both sides of the brain. There are still connections of neurons to create and store memories. (Neuroscience major watching this vid as an assignment)
@@valenlawson4997 Thanks a lot . By the way I am an engineering student but I love to gather knowledge about different topics and do research about them . Where are you from ? I would love to be in touch with you as I am also very fascinated about brain functioning .😅
Hello Dr Travis stork how are you 😀 👋
The human brain is amazing
She is 30 now... (2020)
33
Does anyone know how Jessica is today? I went to Crestview elementary with her.
I saw Dr Ben Carson do many surgeries and it is like watching God doing the surgery. Every move is so perfect and for hours on out in a surgery. I wish he never retired.
Hi follow me on ig:enriquelara0
My son has this disease...it's horrible
We are reading a book about Ben Carson
thanks this help my son he made this operation thanks allot
Is it just me or does the doctor at 1:26 look like Doctor Otto Octavius from Spider-man 2?
7:11 republican presidential candidate Ben Carson lol
Is this THE ben carson?
Yes this is THE BEN CARSON
Jessie.... I LOVE YOU MAN!
i think she... how old is she now like 25? didnt she write a song called he's so fine
This is incredible! I wonder how she is doing now. .
I found this : www.bbc.com/news/av/magazine-39117532/i-only-have-half-a-brain
The spinal fluid fills the space eventually
I see now which religion u belong to... "one-seeing-eye", the eye of Ra! "You shall know them by the fruit of their works" Said the Wisest man
Hahahah... What does 'being religious' mean to God? What "Jesus Christ" religious? To be religious, you must be a Caucasian or a Caucasian fanatics... Religion was invented by the 'Redman'! IOW, Atheism is also a religion of the confused ones, Satanism is also another well-known religion... Nothing can take place without God's hand blessing! Everything, both known and the unknown are under God's control! Only fools try to take Him out life-equations
@SuperVancouverBC I'm good! I am currently going for a hdfs degree
how are you feeling now?
this is beautiful.
:42 they say the right side of her brain was removed, not the left?
Love to this family!!!!!
Aw, I'm so proud of her!
What a sweet girl with a very bright spirit. Let's not forget to give credit to the incredible love given on the part of the parents. That in itself is an immeasurable and powerful force
what are you talking about? Who says the brain is completely hardwired? Anyway, one study does not "prove" anything, regardless of the subject, from physics to anthropology. If you read about Dr. Bach y Rita you'll see no claim that he PROVED anything. His study SUGGESTS this, PROVIDES EVIDENCE for that. If you want to speak authoritatively on such subjects I suggest you study the scientific method and how science itself works
Like what? sawdust? What did they put into yours? Straw? Are you the scarecrow from Wizard of Oz? Just kidding, your choice of words is a bit odd.
I'm sure they did something, put something synthetic or maybe some collagen gel. In the past fluid would accumulate and that was problematic, there must be a trick to it now.
This is should be shown to evolutionists who think mechanically!!! God exists and HIS spirits is the primordial life-driver... Alleluia
This made me cry - it was wonderful!
I went to google her story and her website came out...SHE CAN DRAW TOO! :D
Imagine if parents did with their normal children what these parents did. This kid achieved straight A's with half a brain.
she is doing great...
Hope she is ok. :)
my daughter had this procedure done almost 3 months ago
I've been thinking of the exact same.
FUCK FUCK FUCK
I don't remember, but probably about 50.
Dr. Freeman was awesome. I met him but was so freaked out at the time back in 1985, never went back there.
This is extremely fascinating! One of the reasons why I'm a psychology major <3
incredible. just. amazing.
0:22 Holy shit! The Ring!! 0:25 Oh...nevermind.
That neurosurgeon sounds high xD
Yea 17 years later he was so high he ran for president
@Eohyr The left side of her face isn't swollen, it's partially paralyzed. As stated in the video, left hemisphere controls right side of body, and vise versa. Her right hemisphere was removed, hence, the left side of her face is affected. She might recover from that later, but it's possible she might not also. But I just wanted to point out that it's not swollen, just partially paralyzed.
I had this too......
Thanks for posting this... this surgery was done to me when I was 12 right before Christmas. It is now almost 8 years I have been seizure free! Thanks again!
