This is just a snippet of day 3 from our Western Alps Tour guided by Michael Jentl (jentlflow.at). I was cutting the video for the whole day and could not resist picking out my favorite tracks back down. The climb up to the summits and the first bit back down are quite exhausting, so it was a treat to let it fly on the lower halves.

On the 2nd day of our trip through the Western Alps, we encountered a very sketchy section. Luckily, that waterfall carried no load. The thought of getting over these boulders and rocks in running water horrifies me, haha! I just closed my eyes and gave it a try. Pure luck. Pushing it is a smarter move considering the danger. On the last day of our Western Alps tour, we climbed the Punta Colomion. Here Michael Jentl (www.jentlflow.at) filmed me riding a mate's KTM 300 EXC TPI. My first time ever on a light 2 stroke. So don't judge me too harsh, but this was a fun bit to ride.

Just a short ride out to relax and test my Mitas E07 Dakar in mud and rain. These are hard tires with a long life. Hold up well in mud and wet dirt. The last bit was a fire road under water and traction control did not kick in. BUT on wet grass or wet streets, they give up. I'd try the standard Mitas E07 next time or go back to my Conti TKC 70 Rocks ( perfect winter tire ) for street use.

Me on my 87' Suzuki DR 750 Big, 2 x KTM Adventure 890 R, a BMW GS 1250 and 1200. Relaxing and fun. Learned a lot. I was longing for more than gravel though.

After a few hours of street riding, we decided to go for some dirt. Honda CRF1000L and KTM 990 Adventure R ... with touring tires. We need knobbies badly. The mud beneath the leaves was tricky.

What a ride. What a bike. What a sound. You are very good, but that is too fast for me. It just shows what a wonderful bike the Bonneville is. It can perform like that or be just as good quietly burbling along sedately in town on your way to work. Aggressive or gentlemanly as the mood takes you. A bike with good manners. I had one in the 1960s and is great to see these new editions have captured the style, spirit and class of the originals. Thanx from Australia.

has the gearbox/gear selector problem ever been sorted out on the Bonneville models either by the replacement of the gear selector or in recent years of manufacture [if so then when] in such a way that the issue won't reoccur?
I saw another youtuber talk about this in some detail. (I can't remember who) Apparently it has been sorted out from about the 2022 models on, I think. Though I believe it wasn't always a problem. But if the bike was ridden very aggressively often, and the change pedal thumped hard, it could and did give trouble. But if you can't ride a Bonnie hard at times what's the point. It seems Triumph listened.

Happened often. At 130kmh I wiped ine's butt. Close one :). My Africa Twin took one down at 80kmh. Went over the poor thing. Did not go down, still riding. Knock on wood.

Yes, in better hands. I switched to an Africa Twin and enjoy offroading. I may get a bonneville again. A 1200xc or xc would be a dream.
