Nice comparison but what camera are you using them with?
The best Sony lenses are made in China, I have both Mk1 and Mk2 of the F4 70-200 quality wise the China made Mk2 👑
FILTER USED?
Amazing views! Family shots was with tamron 70-180 or other lens?
Nice comparison, really high quality content! Agree with you about white lenses, they bring too much attention... Tamron wins with sharpness, bokeh and price, but 0.5x macro @200mm is something unique.
Conclusion: Blaine has shaky hands, or both of these IS are bad :))
I got the sony this past tuesday, images are sublime soooooo good had a good deal for £1370 GB in my local store
Excelente video .Saludos de un Argentino desde Irlanda
Beautiful autumn colours, lovely family!
Awesome review and comparison!! Imagine they made the G master 70-200 GM2 in macro!!!??
That was sooo informative and helpful! Thanks you! Love your vids from Japan!
Yo, what a useful shots, =)
Thanks!
can you use tubes with 70--200mm for macro?
I have the 70-200 F4 Macro G OSS II, and the lens is good, wide open, but best stopped down to about f8. I use the 1.4 x teleconverter on it frequently with great results. I don’t have the 2.0 TC, because it just does not work well with any of my lenses. I primarily shoot stills, and usually f/6.3-f/11. In that range it is as sharp as the 70-200 GM II. I find the colors warmer on the Tamron, but the Sony colors more true-to-life. I don’t find much difference in saturation or contrast. I can see why warmer colors might be more appealing for video.
I don’t care that much about color on lenses because post production make up for the lens quite well, the more important thing is the AF and the sharpness cause that can’t be done in post. 😅
Pretty nice comparison. I have had the past 2 Tamron 70-180. Just got the G2 in October 23 and am looking to get rid of it because of something you did touch on for a second. The AF while zooming. Other Tamron lenses have this same issue of jerky tracking. As a photographer if I am using focus tracking and zoom any amount the Tamron will totally lose the focus point and will not refocus on anything. I tested this out on the 2 Gen 2 Sony 70-200 and the tracking is excellent while zooming. I watched so many Tamron 70-180 G2 reviews and I don't recall anyone ever mentioning this... odd... It might not matter to many but I know it will to a few of us :)
Good point noted.
I found a used copy of the Sony on Amazon Warehouse and ended up pulling the trigger. Yeah it was a bit more expensive than the Tamron, but it will definitely hold its value better. and damn what a killer lens. Also. I had major dust issues with previous Tamron telephphoto zoom lens, so I will waist a few years before going back.. Haven't had any major issues with the F4 maximum aperture yet. Shot inside art galleries and museums at acceptable ISOs and added a bit Lightroom AI noise reduction in post.
I chose Tamron... your video convinced me to buy it. Thank you for your help.
I chose tamron too, than regretted it. Sold it and have the Sony F4 Macro again (Which I had before the Tamron G2)
Most helpful ❤👍
Друг, огромное тебе спасибо, очень помог Ваш обзор!!!
Hi, can you put a teleconverter on Tamron?
no, but tbh teleconverter are pretty useless. the image quality loss and light loss doesn’t make it much better than just cropping in
No - and honestly a teleconverter kinda sucks unless you got it for free or really needed the extra length.
It's really cool.👍 good
Love the vid as well as the colour..😊
I ordered the Tamron yesterday!! I love how smooth the zoom ring is though. Just plan nice slow or medium zooms to avoid that focus problem. Dude you didn’t even mention the HUGE price difference as an advantage. Great review though thanks!!
Did you use an ND filter or anything to keep the aperture open?
This is the best sigma 24-70 f2.8 footage I've seen thus far. Really clean and enjoyable footage. Well done Blaine, you should be proud of yourself👌
Do you have an experience with the 1.4x TC? I’ll mainly be using the 70-200 for sports, so I’m worried about the loss of F/stop.
I have not used the 1.4 TC but I think you’d probably be fine with the loss of f/stop. Also depends if you’re doing video or photo, indoors or outdoors, and which camera body you are using. A7S3 should be able to handle most scenarios easily for video
I also like black color. I do not know why many brands has 70-200 in white.
heat dispersion
It's supposed to be for heat, particularly for sports photographers who are outdoors all day for long periods. For most other photographers though, it is a bit unnecessary. 😂 Would be nice if they offered two colour options.
@@hungrydavo That would mean Nikons pro telephoto lenses are junk! /s
If you were thinking about getting the Sony for it's macro capabilities with the teleconverter, the Sony 90mm Macro almost costs as much as a teleconverter lol. On paper the Tamron sounds like it's macro capabilities are pretty close to the Sony's, but in reality there is quite a bit of difference between the two. Thank you, the comparison in this video made my mind up. Sony G is the right fit for me.
I'm glad you have done this
Will it work sony teleconverter x2 on tamron 70-300 rxd ?
No, unfortunately
So glad you did this one
thanks for this comparison! getting the tamron myself
Good point about the color of the lens, I wish my GM2 was black whenever I travel with it
Thanks for the video. I’m looking to buy the Sony. It looks like a great option with the teleconverter. But, that Tamron looks good too and the price difference. Lots to thank about.
Both are great options, hard to go wrong with either.
Thank you for this comparison, this is exactly what I needed before i fly to buy one of them in Japan ❤
Glad I could help!
same here, will get one of them in the coming Japan trip!!
@@Brian30633How was your experience with the lens in Japan? I'm also considering to buy it for my Japan trip 🙂
@@dimi3kromm I get the Sony 70200 f4 And for sure it’s a no regret purchase!!
@@Brian30633OK, thanks for the feedback! I will test it soon 🙂
Omg, what a great video! I really enjoyed the format and the shots!
That was beautiful! :D
very good and inspiring
Amazing work, Bro! Great mood, great colors, great song. Beautiful family.
Did you use a water case for your a7sIII? Or go pro? Your travel videos with your family are awesome.
Beautiful ❤
Cute video😆
Do you prefer to use the tamron over the sigma ? Do you feel sharpness difference between both ? Thank you 🙏
I like the Tamron for vlogging because it goes to 20mm. It’s also light which is nice for gimbal work. The Sigma is fantastic for the non vlog stuff, but it is WAY heavier. I don’t notice any difference with sharpness.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful family's trip! We'll be there next month with little ones too and wasn't sure if it was a crazy idea 😊
Thanks for watching! Travelling with little ones is a bit crazy but definitely worth it. Have a great trip!
the most important in the world - family <3 beautifull films
So true! Thanks for watching
Did you have any issues with vignetting w/ the Freewell VND filter w/ the 16-35?
A little bit, but I don’t think it’s a deal breaker
Well, kudos to you both for shooting this beautiful video, all while also managing 2 such young kids! That ain't easy! Its always such a treat to watch your own family trip videos, after a while
So true. Luckily my wife is very helpful with wrangling the kids so I can get some video shots. Thanks for watching!
Do you shoot in S-Log format? What is your post-processing workflow?
Sorry for the delay. Yes I do you slog. I use fcp where I adjust shadows and highlights and apply Phantom Luts.
Amazing work. What luts do you use?
Sorry for the delay! Thank you! I use Phantom Luts
My kids are a bit older but this definitely reminded me when they were younger. Nice video!
