Drumboe Steam Locomotive travels though Stranorlar & Ballybofey, 9th October, 2021
The newly restored 'Drumboe' steam locomotive paused briefly in front of what was the Stranorlar Railway Station, from where it's last passenger journey was made on 31st December 1959, the day the Donegal Railway closed.
Drumboe was on route through the Twin Towns on it way to the Donegal Railway Heritage Centre, Donegal Town where it will be on permanent display.
CDR Loco No.5 was named 'Drumboe' after a local townland of the same name, where the then chairman of the County Donegal Railway Company lived.
The 'Drumboe' Steam Loco joined the County Donegal Railway in 1907 and served for over 50 years.

Lovely Video, thank you for sharing, as my memory reminds me, the two towns are close by, my bro bought a holiday home in mullaghmore, so when i came home i had to visit. Loved Saint Patricks band, Rathkeen, but why did or does all the southern marching bands want to be american style. If my memory recalls there is a fantastic couple of shops in ballybofey, You know where Mc Ilheneys is, well not them , the small butchers and the cake shop just beside there, in the car park, fantastic produce,
