Sounds like you have a bad rectifier somewhere, or maybe a regulator. There will most likely be a transformer that steps the 110v AC down. That will go into a rectifier to convert to 5v DC. There is also most likely a 5v regulator. Defective regulators can get noisy when they warm up. That will mess with logic curcuits.

China VFDs from Vevor are around $100 or just a bit more. Ive had fairly good luck from them. Just saying if you did want to try it. Just make it dust proof for longevity.

From what i have read that brushless motor runs on DC current,not AC. I would check the voltage or amperage on each power leg going into the motor. I really dont know

Thank you Joe (and the Wife unit). Most of my work career was in inspection and QC. People don't realize how "just a little bit at the center extrapolates, the further you get from the center. The owner of the bike is lucky he didn't kill himself. I was just enjoying the way you explained the situation and the solution. From start to finish you showed how a lay person, with a minimum of tools can at least find the solution and take it to a professional to correct the problem rather than just take it to a shop and have to take out a mortgage on the house to get it back!!

This seems to be a pretty common issue with carbon fiber parts. Even carbon fiber bicycle frames that cost thousands will have poorly molded bearing mounts that cause premature failure.
