We're a van life couple from South Florida that shares a passion for travel, adventure, and low budget DIY projects! We enjoy nature, observing wildlife, and exploring new places while trying to keep spending at a minimum. After 2.5 plus years, we finished converting a 2019 Ford Transit high roof cargo van into a tiny home on wheels - using repurposed materials and creative design solutions. We've documented the process of the build and have been sharing our experience as we travel the country on a low budget with our cat, Lady Gray Gray Gillespie Pinkerton. We look forward to sharing more travel and van life experiences with you! We'd love it if you'd join us for the ride!

Those barricades at the end of Ocean Rd are there because during storms boulders get tossed onto the road, new Castle beach is open to the public. You drove by my home.
We've had a few elusive landmarks on our travels, much like the lighthouse in this episode. All part of the adventure.
That's very true - it adds to the adventure! And the search can be fun and take you to places your weren't expecting!
Great vid guys. Subscribed. I live in St Lawrence Co. Ive done that tour a few times, ive even attended a wedding at Bolt castle. They actually let people rent the place for such things. My favorite part of Bolt Castle is the fourth of July celebrations in ABay, where they have an amazing fireworks display right over the perfectly lit up Bolt Castle.
Thanks so much! 🙂 The castle would be beautiful for weddings and a fireworks show there over the water also sounds awesome!
I live right on the Canadian border, right across from Ontario, bout 80 miles from Ottawa. I can verify that Canada is probably the hardest country to enter into. The many times ive gone to Canada back in the day, they acted just like this, all power tripping and treating you like some criminals. I now can not get into Canada, because back in the early 2000s, i got a DWI here in the states. And anyone who has any kind of violation on their record in the states, are not allowed into Canada. My DWI violation was over 20 years ago, it basically means nothing here in the states now. I paid my fine for it and enough time has gone by now, but in Canada that never goes away. Even if im not driving in Canada, i still cant enter the country. In fact the kast time i tried, it was probably 15 years after my offense, the Canadian customs officer told me no, i cant enter, and if i try again, i will be arrested for trying to enter the country illegally. I remind you, that i live on the border with Canada, i can see Canada from my front yard. Terrible country to try to get into.
You missed the large park that was about a mile down the road that would have given you great views of the lighthouse, a beach etc.
@@dmottley We did actually spot that park from where we stopped. Sadly we were limited on time and had to keep moving! (It also looked like the road that was blocked used to connect to that park possibly?)

They even do wind surfing and kite surfing while catching big air and flying over several waves at a time. Brrr. I'll watch them all from the warm car, er, van. Safe travels. 2+2+1

Portland is actually a dangerous town.

High theft in OOB. We had a camera etc., stolen from our tent. Amazing area of Maine is, Ogunquit. Small touristy town where Sally Struthers plays the Ogunquit theater in the spring/summer. Enjoyed your synopsis of Maine and all the little towns within. I would love to be a 6 month resident in a Northern State and Florida for 6 months. In my older age i have grown tired of the long hot and sticky Summers in Florida. I guess that you would half to experience all 4 Seasons in 1 place to make a firm decision regarding long term residency. I would be interested in knowing what you thought of the friendliness of the people in New England They always struck me as being a bit odd. Maybe it was just me! Loved the Video. Rob McCann
@@mccproc We're really glad you enjoyed it! There are certainly pros and cons for any place although we really love Florida, even in the summer. We've heard Maine is terrible during some of the summer with black flies and other bugs. But then Florida has Noseeums and plenty of mosquitoes! How do you determine which places you will visit?
@@southerngirlyall6497 Do you mean once we're already in a region or when we map out plans for the year? There are a lot of factors that go into the larger plan. This year we started with a different plan but because of the progression and timing with my dad's cancer, we ended up staying in the northeast and we planned around being with family and some places we knew we'd like to visit without going to far away from family. We also plan around weather for sure!
@SteveAudra Both, please.
@@southerngirlyall6497 That's a bit difficult to answer. We usually choose some specific things/areas that are top priority for the year (such as specific national parks, people we want to see, and specific landmarks) and then consider existing obligations and weather and make a plan that works with that, is efficient for driving (a straightish path instead of back and forths or backtracking) and that leaves enough time for us in each area. We also try to factor in time with family and visiting people we know along the way. For the more day to day we work on balancing work and sightseeing. We choose spots based on recommendations from others, places we've saved from Instagram, places we have found on the map, etc. We always start with things that are free to do first. Then we look to see if there are things that are especially unique to an area such as food or landmarks that we don't want to miss. We often look for local parks, state or national parks, botanical gardens that are part of the American Horticultural Society reciprocal program, hiking trails, etc. I also search for blogs about an area trying to find things that locals or other travelers recommend.
@SteveAudra I need to plan a little better so I'm not backtracking so much.
