Do you have a class on how to color grade like this ?? This is too beautiful and quality remains topnotch even on RUclips. I have a show and I need high quality grading like this. How can we discuss further ?
We can talk about that if you want. Send me a DM on Instagram. instagram.com/shugo_akatsuka/
Love this! A question I have with 2X anamorphic lenses on this BMCC6K, how much does the rolling shutter affect your work? I noticed these were all fairly smooth and slow shots. Is rolling shutter with 2X anamorphic lenses a problem you’ve faced? Thanks for your time!
I was annoyed by the rolling shutter when the camera was on a stabilizer and I orbited around the subject. I would say if you are very conscious of the rolling shutter in general, it could be very distracting
@@ShugoAkatsuka thank you for your input, I appreciate it!
This is wonderful Shugo! Love the stillness of your composition. Very beautiful and poignant. Also really like how the environmental sound embedded in the soundtrack. Did you record with an external microphone? If so can I ask which one you use? Thanks!
Thank you very much! The microphone I used is Sennheiser MKE400
@@ShugoAkatsuka Thank you! I look forward to seeing your next uploads :)
@kennyektar thanks hopefully very soon
I am gonna shoot a small one man band documentary. Cant decide between the Canon C70 and BMPCC 6K Pro. They have very similkar features and i am used to work with the Blackmagic. I am not familiar with the Canon menus or operation. SO thats why i dont feel safe using this camer. What d o you think, does the Canon C70 have advantages for such kind of project? And another question is, did you use the Neutral Lut here or some other Lut from the Phantom Luts package?
Hey there, I would choose C70 for a lot of reasons but it really depends on what and how you shoot. If I wanted the best of best image quality I would go for BM, but more that that I trust the reliability and robustness of Cinema EOS. And no worries about canon's menu system. Not simple but I love it more than that of Blackmagic. DM me (@akatsukashugo) on IG if you have specific questions. I will try my best to help you out
Regarding the Phantom LUTs, I graded this with "Vision" that's included in its film package.
These look great! were they all shot at the same T stop?
Thank you! I stopped down a little bit when the nd was maxed out but tried to stay at 2.1 :)
@@ShugoAkatsuka thank you for the response! your images seem to have a better sharpness than what I've seen at 2.1
@BryceSaucier Did you try Pavos on the same camera?
@@ShugoAkatsuka Not yet but I am planning to soon. I have just seen tests
What is the used lens?
Sigma Art 24-70 with the focal reducer
@@ShugoAkatsuka Which focal do you have? Thank you! Canon EF-EOSR 0.71?
@@marekhoravacz yup
Oh I see anamorphics at 1:53
Looks beautiful, I just don’t see much anamorphics beside maybe the colors which is good enough.
How did you manage to get such a stable footage from this heavy camera ? I have an rs2 pro and balancing my 6k FF is a nightmare 😢
Yeah I know it’s quite hard to balance BM cameras on a gimbal. These shots are smooth because I use Glidecam, a mechanical stabilizer that doesn’t involve any electronic equipment. It’s hard to learn how to use it but once you master that, no micro jitters will be introduced no matter what camera you use
@@ShugoAkatsuka thanks a lot. Now I don’t know if I wanna sell my rs2 and buy a glidecam 😂
@@giuliomalloni3975 Glidecams doesn't cost a lot nowadays. Check out Amazon and eBay. You don't need to sell your gimbal to get that (I would say gimbals are much more versatile so you should keep that)
とても短い短編のインスピレーションが来ます!^^
おぉ! 素敵ですね ブラックマジックとは少し違うルックですが、これもいいですね
ありがとうございます☺️
Is it 6k original or ff ??

Your working Is amazing! You just gained a subscriber
I really appreciate that. Thank you.
Wow 😍 amazing work! What lenses did you use? Did you color in premiere or Davinci?
Sigma 24-70 and Davinci!
Nice video ❤
Thank you 🙏
I LOVE the rendering of those lenses, wow
Yeah I really do too.
You should do a breakdown of your settings, lights and color grade..... You do such great work
Thank you very much, I’m actually thinking of doing that :)
@@ShugoAkatsuka Please do you do amazing work and I am just trying to get to that level

Were you shooting at 2.1? Did you get any chromatic aberration?
Mostly wide open. I didn’t see chromatic aberration but it’s very soft at T2.1

I love the feel and you are very good doing pan-tilt-truck pulls! Great work Shugo San!
Thank you so much! I love the old classic methods too
Lovely!
Thank you!
Amazing man!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Thank you very much!
So chill ❤
Thanks 🙏
was that first shot on a ronin or handheld? So sick!
It’s on a Glidecam!
Nice
Thanks!
Good afternoon Shugo! What is your favorite time to film? At sunrise or sunset? Or in the middle of the day? I mean, what time of day do you like the most to make it look the most beautiful? By the way, what time of day was this film filmed? Pretty pretty pretty. "Shugo Wong Kurosawa".
Hi, I like to shoot at both sunrise and sunset, but I'm pretty sure this video was shot in the middle of the day. So it may be that it doesn't really matter. Depending on the height of building and architecture, it doesn't make sense to wait for the sunset simply because all the image will be too soft and there's not direct light in the frame. So it might not be the answer you wanted form me, but I have to say all depends. hope that helps and thanks a lot for supporting my channel!
So nice ❤ are you grading with Kodak 2383 in resolve?
No, I edit with Phantom LUTs which I wrote in the description
this is wow
Thank you!
You are so talnted! Thank you so much for this Art filled with your love and soul! Very happy you have a chnce to work with this lense. You art is beautiful😀😍 very beautiful
Thank you so much, it means really a lot!
Nice! Do you think you can do a color grade tutorial on the C70?
Thank you! I might do that but what I do is basically apply one of the Phantom LUTs so I can probably talk about something very insightful. Let me know if you’re interested in the LUTs I use
Definitely interested! Loving your color grading! Thanks 😊
@@PeacefulMoments1844 so here's the affiliate link of Phantom LUTs. Take a look if you're interested in. Choose Canon and Film Look. I mainly use "Vision" Recent videos with C70 are graded with this LUT and no special adjustments are applied except exposure and white balance (I shoot 4K raw so no probs) bit.ly/4aOYRUh (15%off code: shugo)
Its morning time and I ate this video for breakfast, so delicious
Hahah thanks
Great Job Shugo ! So a big change in pure image quality, compared to the c7O? You have experience with these 2 cameras, is there no regrets?
I’m not sure which is better. I like BMD better but recently I kinda understand how to work with C70 and the image coming out is as good as BMD sometimes even better
@@ShugoAkatsuka It's crazy, The C70 is very hot ! Maybe the Mark II will be great !
@@moussasah2710 C70 already suffices my need. I'm aware Canon Rumor talks about the mark ii but I'm certain I will skip that. C70 is that good despite being almost 4 years old
@@ShugoAkatsuka Good reflection ! The difference in dynamics between the C400 and C70 isn't crazy. The Burano displays a nice image, but it is not a revolution, I think that the next C70 II and FX6 mark II will not be a game changer, we will probably have to wait for the mark III generation...
@moussasah2710 I meant I’m not a high-end cinematographer who shoots commercial and movies everyone watches so I just need light yet clean 4K images. Plus I want a compact camera that can shoot in SD cards. C70 does these all. Maybe my requirements for camera might change in a couple of years but I’m not interested in new cameras for now because Canon will probably increase bit rates significantly as they increase the resolution. I don’t want to buy an excessive amount of SD and CFexpress. R5C 8K Raw is indeed clean but because of file size I keep shooting 4K xfavc which however is oversampled from 8K sensor. So even if they develop 12K cinema camera I would probably just shoot 4K oversampled unless my client and the world want that.
One more question: do you film in 2.4:1, or do you add these black bands in post? Thank you, Shugo!
Well it depends. From the perspective of data management I want to shoot in 2.4:1 but most of the time I need to adjust horizon in post or move up and down so I tend to shoot in 16:9 and adjust the aspect ratio later
They say that for daytime filming, in outdoor locations, ISO 800 is good. Which iso do you normally use in daylight? Another question: And what iso do you use in backlight? Success!
Thank you! I shoot mostly ISO400 as I want a flexibility in post to bring the exposure up
@@ShugoAkatsuka Your photographs are beautiful. It's a perfect mix of Wong Kar-Wai, Akira Kurosawa and a third look (you).
@donato200283 what a compliment! Thank you so much :)
Hmm, the shots are nice as always. I love how you seem to underexpose your images. It gives the work a somber tone no matter what. The music helps. Plus, again, those pavos and that distinct bokeh.
Thank you very much. One of the things I love about BMD is personally the fact that the noise in shadow is so clean and the blacks feel very deep. So it makes much more sense to underexpose and protect highlights and I can have the shadow richness. Yes, the Pavos are so unique and beautiful indeed
