I think you're wrong Appleton has never changed
lol I’m not wrong. Appleton & Wray and Nephew are owned by Campari, a foreign company. They were purchased on September 3, 2012 for $400+Mz They are also importing their molasses. Don’t believe me go ask them.
Where do the other 5 distilleries import their molasses from 🤔
Many distilleries in the Caribbean are importing from a combination of many countries, including Brazil, Nicaragua, and Fiji. I think there may be a couple others as well.

Hampden is great 👍🏻 they’re Jamaican owned and I have so many of their bottles. they are importing their molasses like the other 5 Jamaican distillers 😋
What about Appleton? That’s Jamaican rum
Appleton is not Jamaican owned and they’re importing their molasses. Doesn’t mean they’re a bad rum by any means though 🙌🏼
What are your thoughts on the Plantation 5 Year?
It’s not for me. For Barbados rums I like foursquare and Mount Gay. St Nicholas Abbey is great but it’s so damn expensive
puncheon is for the trinidad and tobago people its our rum not to be shared with outsiders its pure fire in a bottle that takes u where u heading real quick

I love drinking higher proof rums (60%+ neat). For me, puncheon, unfortunately, has no flavor 😬
@@therumchampion We don't drink it for flavour, most of us don't at least. It's usually just for the buzz.
Never tried a st Lucian rum, what's its taste profile? Similar to anything else?
If you like Barbados rum you’ll love St. Lucia rum. Most of the expressions from the distillery there are column and pot still blends. Chairman’s reserve in particular makes some of the best rum in the world
When tasting those different bottles, do you find the variation to be larger in some versus the other? Other than being a rum nerd and retail therapy, what would be my reason for buying them?
Each of these was a special release to commemorate the anniversary of the distillery opening in 1931. Each of these blends are completely different. That is to say some are 100% molasses. Some have molasses and juice in them. Some have more than column still. These are incredibly rare and hard to find now. But all of them are so delicious.
You show 4 bottles and one has that wonderful familiar Plantation grass net. You have my attention.

White oak, for me, is a mixer rather than something I’d want to sip neat 😬

I have! It’s a pretty neutral flavored white rum that adds an extra kick to cocktails

🎉 FYI, rum champ, privateer rum is certainly amazing in baking many wonderful desserts. It is the best rum ever used to make my rum cakes. And it smells absolutely divine when sipped!

@@therumchampion Yes, I have moved and organized bottles several times in the past year. A few weeks ago I moved a large set of shelves into my dining room so I could display my rum by country of origin from Australia to the West Indies, left to right, top to bottom. The bottles are beautiful. Ha ha. Gotta show ‘em off. I’m wishing us both continued success with our rum storage.

It makes me feel good to know that your rum is all over the place, just like my booze collection is. Hopefully, we will see a video where you go through some of the lesser known rums and give your thoughts.
I’ll definitely have to make a longer form content video on the rums in my collection! Like the ones from Ireland, Netherlands, Italy and other places you wouldn’t expect Rum to be distilled
This simultaneously screams sophistication and frat. On the one hand you’ve created a meticulous collection of something you love and enjoy which is commendable, but brag about all the rums you’ve tried kinda like a frat dude brags about the fat chicks he’s slept with.

You need to try RomDeLuxe hampden dok at 85.6% 1600 ester or there 93% 500 ester 😁

Are the batches going to be made a few days before? The day of?
Dropping a piece of cork in does not ruin or "cork" a bottle of wine let alone rum or or other distilled spirit. The term "corked" refers to a bottle being stored improperly allowing for oxidation of the drink, or a cork deteriorating into the bottle over a long period of time due to improper storage. In a situation where you break a cork or accidentally push it into the bottle just decant the bottle and then use one of the many techniques or tools available for removing the cork, if it's a spirit feel free to put it in the same bottle and add new cork that fits.

I feel like this has to have happened to you more than five times. You did a good job saving it, though. This happened to a bottle of McCallen 21 years I had, and I had to bust out the coffee filter to get any of the cork out. How does it taste compared to the 46% bottle
There is no comparison to the other bottle. The rum in the last consignment is from distilleries that no longer exist and the liquid is from the 1950s and 1960s. 😜

The Cognac finished and the 65% Full Proof have my attention. This is definitely rum around the world 🌎. I love it. I wonder if anyone in Russia or Eastern Europe is making rum.
As far as I know, there is no Russian and rum. I do have, however, Rum in the collection from Ireland, the Netherlands, and Madeira (Portugal). I have also tried Rum from Scotland and England !

Wow, great to see Jasper's Mix trendy again. Another popular RUclipsr just posted a similar video two weeks ago 😉 ... The credit for Jasper's recipe becoming public should go to the late great rum collector, Stephen Remsberg. He used to tell the story of drinking at Jasper's bar in the '70s and Jasper writing it down for him. Stephen later shared it with both Beachbum Berry and Ted Haigh, who was actually the first to publish it (along with the punch recipes) in Vintage Spirits and Forgotten cocktails back in 2009. Stephen first shared it publicly at Tales of the Cocktail in 2008, which is timely. That was roughly 16 years ago this week. I think I'll go toast both Stephen and Jasper with potent punch.
