Vagrant Story is an absolute SLOG of a game. It's a chore to play and the bosses are easier than some of the normal enemy encounters. I hate having to go through menus constantly just because a stupid bat is resistant to one kind of weapon and then swap back to another because the goblin in that very same room is also resistant to the weapon you just equipped to take out the bat. Absolutely awful gameplay. I'll persevere to the end of my playthrough, but there will never be another playthrough ever again.

The collector's edition is really tempting though. Honestly if I get a collector's edition I'm committed 100% to playing the game, especially if I'm invested in the series already. I think the real key is just sticking to a good budget.

dude , a incredible review , pointing the problems and its worth, im lv 46 ( i forgot the chapter) and the history, how you can "nuke" the enemy with the various sequences the skills and combos , the interaction between is pretty nice, to me the only annoyiing things are the poor lock-on system and the easy to "get out" invisible arena bordes when we start a fight

Noooo, I think I accidentally heard a spoiler for Trails. 100% my fault for not paying attention. I’m grinding levels in CS2 right now and only just met McBurn. I mean I knew he was some weird demon or something because he Rean asks him how much of him is “something else” and he says “100%”. So some serious foreshadowing. But now I’m super intrigued about whatever McBurn realizes or sees. I can’t wait to make it to that part.

I commented on this video like a week ago and it randomly just auto played. I’m only just now realizing these videos are getting like 5k or 6k views which don’t get me wrong, that’s fantastic. But I just feel like these videos deserve way more recognition. Like 75k to 100k or more even. This is like my favorite new channel, and one I was led to through Falcom games in general. And since we’re on the subject, Falcom games deserve way more recognition and hype. They consistently tell a better story than 95% of the entire gaming industry. Not to mention the phenomenal music and gameplay. Anyway, that’s all I wanted to say. Love this channel. Love Trails and Ys

I’ve been a fan of JRPGs since the late 80s. I’ve pretty much been playing them nonstop for 40 years on all platforms. I totally agree that JRPGs are better than ever. The Trails and Ys games are masterpieces. The FFVII Remake, FFVXI, Tails of Arise, Visions of Mana, Octopath Traveler 1 and 2, all the HD2D remakes and games that have been coming out. All the niche indie JRPGs. Theres so many incredible games and I’m just thankful to be here.

So just the other day, I was literally dying of old age when Death came to me and asked: “Do we know who the Grandmaster really is yet? What about that weirdo Campanella? I ain’t ever seen a human come through the great beyond with the ability to turn people into assorted carrots and beets, and that can’t be cured with any items because the ailment itself doesn’t exist in the world. It always warms my heart to see someone praise Legend of Heroes series. I’m still new the the Trails community but it’s already one of my favorite series of all time. I’ve made it to Cold Steel 2 and it’s been wonderful

I strongly think it will be a DLC, no one will play over the game once again to get one new island. A DLC of 40-50€ or so like how Diablo realeses new content, it would be really stupid, basically no one would re-buy the complete game. I really love Ys X, its the best game I've ever played, hope they dont fuck up the reputation and everyone just misunderstands heavily.. Copium is on.

Mine's better Also, Crystal Bearers is awesome. The game is short, but it's great and Layle is not only the best FF protagonist, but probably the best character in the whole franchise overall. Crystal Bearers needs a remake and a sequel.

Every twenty seconds or less a fucking enemy. I have all the dq games and this is by far the worst because of those random enemies.

Oof, man might need to pick up Neo Fantasian. Might just look forward to 2025 at this point, with several good-looking games coming out in the first quarter of the year.

modern games have too much lights flashes

Since the Gungho trailer, I'm super excited for the Sky remake. I just was turned off from the graphics when we got it on PSP. What especially piqued my interest is we can play the whole game with action combat. Freedom Wars I might finally check out. But make no mistake, the only thing it has in common with MonHun is the mission structure.

As an adult it’s not affording games, it’s finding enough time to play them. In 2024 I got through PR3 reload, FFVII rebirth, Tales through Daybreak, & Dragon Quest 3HD. Edit: forgot Metaphor (awesome game).

What an incredible year! Hard to choose a top five this year but respect all choices and even those who’s were not on the list!

As much I loved ff rebirth, fave game of the year. I felt that the side quests and mini were little too much. There'd be a major event in the main quests and I'm all hyped to find out what happens next... *there are new Queens blood players in your area* ...so a few hours later the hype is gone or at least dimmed... It definitely took away from the intensity of the main story some times.

Wish I could agree with Number 1 but man... Rebirth let me down. I platinumed Remake. It was hair-pullingly hard but I managed. But when Rebirth slapped me with not one but TWO exhaustingly difficult boss gauntlets, and the only way to even tackle them is cheesing brumal form... ... that sucked the enthusiasm I had for the game right down the drain. Then the final boss was just awful. It kept going... and going... and going... and going... and going... and GOING... I wasn't having a lick of fun. I was exhausted. Irritated. And when I finally took Sephiroth down, my love for the game felt destroyed. Rebirth started so strong for me... but the completion requirements, coupled with the exhausting final boss, killed the game for me.

It's sad for me that i don't have money to buy another console, so playing Visions of mana is not possible at the moment but I'll replay Trials in the meantime 😂. Tbh i haven't played many games this year thta were released recently, so I'll pick Romancing saga 2 remake as my goty, is incredible and unique.

PSA: Fantasian is ruining my life right now. I started up what I thought was a mobile port of a middling JRPG from two years ago and got a time machine back to Final Fantasy VIII with once in a lifetime PHYSICALLY BUILT AND PAINTED BACKGROUNDS in every scene. i feel like crying every time I play it its so god damned perfect.

I played the game on Apple Arcade but didn’t finish it before I quit my subscription. I was on the fence about paying $60 to start the game over, but your point about cherishing those increasingly rare gaming experiences decided it for me.

I personally didnt like rebirth its just to long and most of the content wasnt really good. If it didnt have ff7 attached to it everyone would have complained that it was just another ubisoft clone. Also aerith scene is such a massive disrespect to how the original was composed they have no care for 7 and its legacy. I hope part 3 sells even worse so square enix doesnt try anything like this again. they can barely make a good ff game now. What is the last new ip that was successful relying on ips where most people are in their 30s just isnt a good strategy. Metaphor Refantazio is what happens when a company builds what they have been making for decades. Now their system is so refine that press turn system is in all their games as it just doesnt get old. Even if this game is still to long it has less filler than all of rebirth which is already stretching a 30 hour game into 90 and probably end at 150 hours and you wouldnt even get an experience like 7. I hate that everyone is rewarding square enix for such a sloppy game.

A bit late but as of today i have around 430 games (80 bought and 350 in the wishlist) across 2 consoles : Switch and Playstation 4/5 There are a lot of genres in there : Platformers, Metroidvania, FPS, JRPG, RPG, Action RPG, Tactical RPG, a bit of Visual Novel, some racing games etc.... The total hours needed to clear all of this is around 8000 hours according to the How Long to Beat website Yep that looks impossible to achieve and i'm worried because i want to play everything and i'm thinking that won't be possible

Great list, the thing a love about this list is, all these games have beautiful worlds with incredibly Varied and bright colour palletes which i personally believe is the best use in High fantasy games. The beautiful thing about FF7 among practically everything, is manages to have that triple AAA graphical style wilst still using many beautiful and interesting colours you would see in an anime game without the anime tropes thrown in.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is an absolute masterpiece.

I started Jeanne D'Arc from Level-5. It has a remaster on the PS4/5 (so, technically for this list) , but I started the psp version on my Anbernic RG505. Great game for my earlier Fire Emblem fix...

I am a HUGE Trails and Falcom fan since playing Sky FC in 2014 on the Vita. Trails Through Daybreak would be my number 1 pick for GOTY if it wasn't for Rebirth. So yeah, great list!! New sub for you!

First the nasal strip and now business casual??? Good Lord dude! So I can't watch your talk on Fantasian because I'm going to play it and trying to avoid everything about it. Visions of Mana looks... Alright. I appreciate that you loved it but it just didn't catch my fancy unfortunately. I'm just like you, I missed the Ys ship for so long until I started watching JRPG RUclipsrs a few years ago and discovered them. I played Ys 1 first, intending to go in release order, but ain't nobody got time for that, so I jumped right to Ys 8 and absolutely loved it. I loved Ys 1 as well, such a banger soundtrack. Is that boat drifting on the ocean? That's not how boats work... Dude you don't need to dress up for us. Your content is epic no matter what you wear. I'm way back on trails, need to play 3rd chapter. So skipping this one too, sorry my dude. And I'm waiting to play the FF7 remake trilogy until it's complete. People that get upset over RUclipsr opinions on games will never make sense to me. They just like being angry... Like people who dislike Motoi Sakuraba. 😂😂😂 Have a Merry Christmas my dude. This year I started playing Trails games, started with Estelle's journey, currently on Zero, can't wait to make it to Daybreak.

Metaphor is probably the biggest oversight, but also understandable. I haven't played it yet either. I loved Ys 10 and Daybreak, and I'm at a point now where Falcom has ruined gaming for me because I always compare other stuff to their games. I played Nier Automata, and while I completely get why it's considered one of the best games ever made, I dropped it well into the second arc because it just wasn't that fun anymore. Compare that to Ys 10, which has a very similar dual-protagonist thing going on, and Ys 10 just melts away hours and you never notice because it's all so much fun to play. My backlog of top games this year is growing: Gran Blue Fantasy, Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth, FF 7 Remake (I haven't played remake yet, which I want to do before Rebirth), the Mana game (I downloaded and played the demo and didn't like the demo. I also disliked the demo for Octopath Traveler 2, which was an awesome game, so I'm not going to skip Mana just because I didn't care for the demo, but it will move down the list), Dragon Quest 3 (this is my likely next game to play, I think), Euyden Chronicles, Fantasian Neo Dimension, Unicorn Overlord, and on and on. For people who have a very demanding day job, and lots of other stuff going on in their lives, it's impossible to play everything and to give everything the time it deserves. I know if Falcom games are coming out, those go to the top of the list, so my Valetine's day in 2025 is completely booked, and whenever Sky first chapter comes out in the fall of next year, that's a day 1 buy and play. However, other than that, there's a lot of jockeying, and I think the important thing is to play the games that catch your fancy and to not worry about FOMO. In this new golden age, everyone is missing out on something. Like the suit, and I am subbed to the channel and I always like and comment. Hope that's enough to get me into the 99% of not mean people.
