    Hi, many thanks for the tutorial. I do have a question though. I was trying to follow the instructions. However, I do not get any option to click on the "manage update site". When I click on the Update option from the Help bar it shows the latest version (V.54i). But no extra page appears to manage the update site. Could I get some help installing QuickFigures on Windows 11? Many thanks!

    When I try to add a second image to my figure (both tiff.files), it says that: "this kind of file cannot be used with this menu option quick figures". When I converted one of the images to png, it only pasted it into my figure, and did not actually allow me to select what bands I want to use from that specific image

    • @quickfigures8341

      Thanks for letting me know. You can add an additional image to a figure either 1) by drag/drop of a file OR 2) using the popup menu that appears when you right click on an existing figure's image panels. If one method gives you that message, you should still be able to use the other method. I will investigate a more permanent fix for the issue.

    Why is it when I click the western blot image tool after putting in the image, I do not get to crop my image and change the angle? Only able to select the region and not the same as 1:10

    • @quickfigures8341
      @quickfigures8341 7 месяцев назад

      If either an image is very small or a region of interest is already draw, QuickFigures may skip the crop dialog. If you update QuickFigures now and go to "Edit<Preferences" there will be an option to 'always show crop dialog for blots'. Other users have had a similar complaint. If you want to change the crop area for an image that is already part of your figure, just select the image and click the crop icon below.

    How can we align the labels below the image? When I create a new blot figures, the labels automatically get aligned at the top, and I have found no easy way to move them to the bottom and keep automatic alignment. The labels seem to align based on the bottom part, so with angled labels this only works when they are on the top (they will be inside the picture if aligned on the bottom)

    • @quickfigures8341
      @quickfigures8341 Год назад

      Easiest way is to open the "position" dialog for the labels. When a label is selected, there should be an icon below it containing red/blue rectangles. Click that icon. The dialog will appear. In the dialog you can click on the blue rectangle and drag it. Drag it around the area below the red rectangle. The text will change as you drag. When the text says "Upper Corner To Center", the labels should be aligned the way you asked for. You may change the offsets to tweak the positions.

    Hi, is it possible to add labels to sets of panels? For example I have one panel with 4 images and another one with 8 images, I'd like to have A) and B) so in the description I can refer explicitly to each of them separately. Thank you very much, this tool is incredible!

    • @quickfigures8341
      @quickfigures8341 3 года назад

      You can create any number of custom text items (using the text tool in the main toolbar). Those labels can be moved to any location by clicking and dragging. If you place a text item in the same layer as a layout and move it within the bounds of the layout, the label will then be moved whenever the layout is moved. However, you probably want a simple menu item to create text items that are attached to set of panels. Unfortunately the current menu items only create row, panel and column labels. I can definitely add such a menu item in the future (now on my to do list).

    Dear Mazo, It's very nice to work with this tool. It makes life much more easy! Would it be possible to ask you some questions regarding the use of this tool? - How can I make the row labels longer so that the whole file name would be visible? (not nice for figures for publication, but nice for making overviews of your images). - How can images from a lif file easily be included in a 3 colour figure? Now you open one image, make a quick multichannel image from it, and than you just drag and drop the nex image into it. But from a lif file you don't have the individual names of the images? You have to open them first in Image J than? - How do you save the image in Image J? In case you want to work later on it. Now I only find the exporting options. Although it seemed to be saved somewhere, but I do not find this. Thanks a lot in advance, Best regards, Evelien

    • @quickfigures8341
      @quickfigures8341 3 года назад

      Dear Evelien It is good to know that my tool is appreciated. See answers below. 1) How can I make row labels longer? ◦ If file names are used for labels and those names are beyond a certain length, a trimmed version of the name is used to avoid inconveniently long labels. At present there is no option for a user to change the length limit, but adding that option is now on my ‘to do’ list. It will be a while before I upload an updated version of QuickFigures but I will add another comment here after it is available. 2) How can images from a lif file easily be included in a 3 colour figure? ◦ You have to open in ImageJ first. Then either create a figure or save as a tiff (for drag and drop). Direct drag and drop does not (yet) work for .lif files. Also channel labels for lif files are given as Red, Green, Grey and not DAPI, Alexa 564, Alexa488. Also, I am currently trying to obtain more .lif files in order to test QuickFigures (I only had one .lif file during initial testing which is not enough for proper testing) •3) How do you save the image in Image J? In case you want to work later on it? ◦ You are looking for the “Figure Display” option in the File<Save and File<Open menus (right above the export menu). However anything you save this way can not be opened after later updates to QuickFigures. For this reason, I always export a copy of anything I make and almost never save. Good luck with your figures
