Top tip for attaching a walking foot to a Janome sewing machine
One of my sewists on a class last week shared this tip with me - it was a revelation. It may be very obvious to everyone else but to me…well…it changed everything!
Isn’t it funny how something can be so obvious yet you’d never thought of it before. I guess that’s what a lot of top tips are aren’t they - obvious to one person but not another.
Well I’m sharing it here in case to anyone else it wasn’t obvious!!
The tip can be applied to any foot that needs to be screwed on with the 2 clasps that fit around the shank. This is a Janome machine but may be transferable to other brands too.

How to wind a bobbin on the Janome sewist 725s sewing machine. The technique will be transferable to other models although it is always wise to double check in the manual as there may be slight variations. My top tip is to nail the basics - I see so many people having problems with their sewing and a lot of the time and incorrectly wound or inserted bobbin is why.

Mind blown! 30 years after learning to sew - so EASY!!! Thank you.
Newbie here, this was lovely and clear thank you and I managed to wind my bobbin up.
Just spent ( as always!!!) about 30 minutes trying to do this!! I’ll try this next time!
Great idea!!! Awaiting my new walking foot! This will make the installation much easier! Thank you for this!!!
Thank you!! This video absolutely saved me from having to make another embarrassing trip to the sewing machine repair shop! I could not for the life of me figure out why my machine was not grabbing the bobbin thread as I didn't do anything different that I could see. I was about ready to stick my head in a meat grinder. In one last moment of desperation, I decided to search for help and stumbled upon your video. Now I can get back to sewing my daughter's wedding quilt. ❤ Edited to add: I am also saving your video should I need rescuing again! 😂 I am a beginner sewer... not professional by any means. Thank you again! 😊
That is not 'automatic'!

Thank you very much - greatly appreciated. Those Prym Vario Pliers are great, but the instructions are just dismal.
Thank you!!!! Should I have to have an 11mm snap pliers for a 15.8mm heavy duty snaps? I work with different sizes snaps, what should I do? many thanks for your video.
Thank you!!!!! Absolutely saved me so much frustration!
My little tiny hook I think is dull

A million thank yous!!!! My eyes are just now getting so it's hard to thread the needle. This function is a life saver. Thank you!!!!!

Oh my goodness!! I wish I'd have seen this video years ago lol. I've had Janome machines since I started sewing 14 years ago and I've never used the needle threader function. Thank you so much Lorna for this, I will now use it every time. I can't believe how easy it was! Xx
I had my machine for three years and couldn’t be bothered to check out how to self- thread it. Today is the day. Woooow Thank you
Exactly the demonstration I needed!
WOWOWOW WOWOWOW WOWOWOW, THANKYOU for this video, I've been trying to figure this out since 18months.Good thing I can still manually thread the needle. 😊
You're welcome!
Thankyou, couldn't work out what I was doing wrong 🙃
Brilliant! So well explained. Couldn’t work it out from the instruction manual😊
Is there any difference between the turquoise and the pink pliers? Or just a matter of colour?
Just colour - The pink ones are part of the Prym Love range which is largely pink based products!

Title states it is a Janome. This is a top loading or horizontal bobbin. Available on most brands of sewing machines
Thank you! I had no idea how to use this, and it works perfectly. 😊😊😊
What about wool/felt fabric? It’s 36” both ways! Ack!

I bought one through Amazon 😊
Thank you I was getting really frustrated - easy when you now how to! Thanks for sharing🙂
I like to buy one where can I get one
I have seen a few videos on loading this type of machine and I couldn't quite get it to work. Your way worked flawlessly! Thank you soo much and explaining it clearly. 😁😁
Thank you 🙏🏼
I tried different ways.... but nothing I do, makes the fusible interfacing stick to the cloth !!
Wish I could hear you, please speak louder.
Sorry you are having problems with the sound. It could be that the audio is on the quiet side on this one but with the volume up high it can be heard. Hope you can get it to work.
I've had my machine for 15 years, and never knew it could do this... wow!! I cannot thank you enough for this video. Me, and my dwindling sight, thank you!!!
Amazing!! You are very welcome!
Thank you! I bought generic interfacing from Amazon which didn’t come with any instructions so your video was just the job!
Excellent! 😀
