    Question: as you were there on the ground, how was the air traffic noise level? To elaborate my concern, the Google maps show that this community is only 5 miles South of DIA and right under the path of the planes that will be landing on or taking off from the two North-South runways of DIA. The DIA is among the top-5 busiest airports in the world, not just the US. And with only 5 miles, these planes will be at a fairly low elevation, producing a lot of noise. That sounds like a major drawback for a masterplanned community?!!!

    While I would avoid Denver proper, there are some suburbs that are promising. I assume most folks that move here do so for work - so they need to be within a reasonable commute of Denver. Perhaps they get a job in Denver as a general desire to live in Colorado. If someone is fully remote, they would have more options and could pick and choose. If so, I would seriously consider Colorado Spring instead. It has everything anyone could need and is not _that_ far from Denver for bigger city features when needed. Cost of living is quite a bit lower too, which leaves more room to go have fun.

    • @MileHighLivingwithMitch

      Colorado Springs is great, and as you mentioned, has tons to offer with a tad bit lower cost of living compared to Denver and the Denver Metro- it’s just a bit far for me to cover in the detail it deserves. Thanks for watching and commenting!

      @@MileHighLivingwithMitch Sure. It might be worth covering from the perspective of “I can’t afford Denver, now what…” - or something similar. That used to be Castle Rock but now that place is more expensive than Denver - ironically. There are places to the north of Denver that also might fit that. Somewhere in the plus or minus 90 minutes to Denver. Granted, if money was no object, I would be in Summit County or Aspen.

      @@Prestoncsn Yeah, I get that some people need to live in a larger city/metro, because of work, but if you have any flexibility in where you live, consider other Front Range cities unless you strongly desire the lifestyle of Denver. Kind of the ideal is within 90 minutes of Denver/DIA - so Ft Colins until Colorado Springs areas.

  • @JasonTaylor-po5xc
    @JasonTaylor-po5xc 6 месяцев назад

    I considered Denver - but pass. Too much traffic and big city issues. If I did choose Denver, I would go for one of the suburbs - like Parker or Brighton. Denver is surprisingly _far_ from the mountains. Yeah, you _can_ see them, but you still have to travel a good bit to really personal with them. You have to go pretty far out for "affordable" housing - and opposite of the mountains. Boulder is a hard pass - _way_ too expensive and other issues. So, while you score with the mountains, you pay dearly for that. The Boulder Bubble is a liberal/progressive one, even more so than Denver. If you're a rich yuppy tech bro, Boulder might be for you. It is a fun place to visit. The closest thing to my current home I could find in Boulder is $3.3M - that's insane. Colorado Springs - the mountains (Pikes Peak) dominate the skyline. First time over Monument Hill - once I saw the valley with the Springs and Pikes Peak - I knew this was the place for me. Dropped by the scenic overlook near the Academy - yeah, welcome home. Even my wife, who had been disappointed so far, asked when we could move here. We decided on the north side of Colorado Springs (Wolf Ranch) with pretty easy access to the Interstate. DTC is 60 minutes and DIA is 90 minutes. While I am fully remote, I wanted options and easy access to the big city if needed. The Springs provides that balance. Also, I love all the multi-use and bike paths around town. I can bike 30 or more miles without getting on a road. Politically, Colorado Springs is much more purple than any other Front Range city - having 5 military installations nearby might have something to do with that. I also feel like the Springs is more family oriented than Denver, but if you're single you might want to stick with Denver (and carry a lot of mace). I might be biased, but I think we have the best city park (Garden of the Gods). Like with anything, the further east or south you are willing to go, the better the price for the same house. You can get into the mid-300s for new construction out in Falcon or Fountain.

    The whole front range area has been ruined. Way too overcrowded, very expensive, traffic is shitty all day every day, illegal immigrants have flooded the Denver area and are now being pushed out to the suburbs such as mine. You can no longer enjoy anything the state has to offer in the way of camping, hunting, fishing, outdoors activities in general. Good luck finding a house to live in or rent, the housing market cannot keep up with the mass overflow of CA and NY fleeing people. The Governor is a damn clown that continues to ruin the state along with the Mayors of the major cities as well. I would consider Ft Collins but not sure how it is being that its a college town. Oh and lets not forget the beautiful Rocky Mnts, ya lets go to the mountains to get away from the traffic, NOT there is so much traffic in the mnts you might as well stay home! Oh and quit taqlking about Ft Collins, there's no more room, the traffic has ruined the city.

      Loveland is great, not too far from Fort Collins, and close to the mountains- I’ll have a more in depth video coming soon about that area!

    Where would you recommend a second home? Close to the mountains but still have a decent amount of amenities

      How close to the mountains do you want to be? Theres a few mountain towns not too far from many of these areas- Evergreen is considered part of the Denver Metro Area (for statistics and reporting purposes). Also personally a huge fan of Estes Park, it’s just a quick drive north/ northwest of Boulder. I haven’t spent a ton of time in mountainous areas around Colorado Springs, but I have heard from locals how nice it is to visit the Manitou area. Thanks for watching and commenting!

      @@shortythefrenchie I love Durango, the few times I’ve been. It’s quite the drive from us here in the Denver Metro, but it may be just what you’re looking for!
