This is such a great video (content and editing), thank you! I love hitting up cocktail bars in Asia and have an Osaka trip coming up. Came here to see Bar Shiki and Bar Nayuta, but leaving with a lot of hard choices to make with the short time I'm there now. I'm traveling with someone who does not drink alcohol and wondering how you've seen non-alcoholic drinks handled in cocktail bars like these. I know Bar Shiki can offer something N/A and in my experience, most great cocktail bars will be able to offer something just as great in this area too, but Japan is mostly new to me here.

Wanna start of with saying great video production and narratives and if you want a cocktail this is the video to watch, but, you could have fooled me, as it does look like you went to the same bar 12 times, really wish there was a little more diversty than this. Specially considering there are so many crazy concept in japan when it comes to bar/drinking culture.

We need a Bangkok version once every 6 months...There's just so many nice spots to check out. I'll be back in Bangkok again November 2024.

Your Kyoto, Osaka, and Tokyo series have been some of the most helpful tools in planning our 2 week honeymoon out to Japan in October! Thanks for your work on this series, I can't wait to visit many of these bars.

Loved the video! You should definitely check out the bars in Kobe (Hyogo-ken) too, there are so many amazing spots. Personally, I think Mr.Kinoshita at Savoy Eastgate has some of the best cocktail skills in Japan.

Awesome video, staying in Nara for a few days soon so I can't wait to pet deer during the day and then try these bars at night!

Cavalier and lescamoteur are owned by french guys. One of the main actors Vianney ended going back to France :'( If you want another hafu/gaijin owned recommendation, bar Furansu in Kanazawa. Bars local dont go to are rowdy tourist centered bars with unassimilated people causing problems. They don't want to be lumped in with those kinds of tourists. Bars run by gaijin that "get it" are not a problem for locals and local gaijin. I love all those bars and have met very nice travelers I still talk to today. A lot of great gaijin owned businesses were lost during COVID. Pour one out for the homies.

Mr. Miata and his stupid ass smile haha. You missed Daichi when you went to Kaktel. Fun fact, Scotch and Branch opened during COVID and I visited them once a week while the lockdowns were happening. They were running a true speakeasy when bars needed to be shut down. You missed El Tesoro and Mousse 😢.

I am frequently there but find these spots a bit underwhelming for a place like Paris. They don't feel like "world-city" at all, more like student hangouts. I see the point that you cannot pay rent for a palace in Paris from cocktail revenues. Hotel bars have an advantage...
