Our $1600/month + 1 bedroom apartment in St Catharines, Ontario
My son's father has court ordered me to live in either St Catharines or Thorold (Ontario) - no exceptions. Rents are far too high and we only got this place because a homeless shelter "referred" us - after we'd already applied on our own and been denied.
Thus, this is where we ended up. Ridiculously expensive. Not trashy. Not great either though. Just decent - so far.

Month One of my journey to finally getting back in shape and feeling better!
Просмотров 1163 года назад
Okay. So as previously stated, I'm about 30lbs overweight and lacking tone and definition. My goal is to get back down to roughly pre pregnancy weight - around 100lbs. Keep in mind, my spine is completely fused so I cannot bend it at all. I'm going to do this routine, plus 100 squats every day - for one month and then check back and see how I look and feel then. And then of course continue that...

On top of that the organization refused to buy back and told you they would never live in a habit home 😮

    I work for habitat for humanity at a restore. First red flag was the fact that they take donations like couches and then turn and sell it in the store. We also take community service workers and one simplified there little scheme. Basically they take the already enslaving 30 year mortgage and take it to people who wouldn’t even have qualified for it in the first place and qualify them for a habitat house. Even poorer families getting on the same 30 year mortgages and they STILL TAKE YOUR HOME IF YOU DONT PAY. If you have watched the big short before it’s exactly what they showed to be the cause for the crash. And it’s not the poor peoples fault it’s the people who are giving the mortgages in the first place

    • @femsplainer

      @@gingercowgirl5358 Not to beleaguer the point, but if you're court ordered to be there for the foreseeable future, then that apartment, and wherever you move to next, will be a home for you and your son, because that is where your heart is, with him and your mother. The saying "home is where the heart is" isn't so much a saying that you will always love your surroundings if your heart is in the right place for it, but rather that as you live in a place and create memories of the shared experiences you have there, that that will inevitably convert even the most unfortunate living arrangements into a home. I grew up in some downright hovels because my parents had no money management skills, and though they were far from ideal, I still have some good memories associated with those places, not because we had to live there because of our circumstances, but because we lived there, together. I get that you're hurting right now because of your unfortunate circumstances surrounding your most recent move, but as you pointed out, you still have your family and that's what is most important. Things will get better, take heart.

      @@femsplainer Nobody needs to tell me what is important. I don't give an ounce of care, ultimately about material things. But nobody can deny that the physical environment you are in, affects much of your mental well being. Not to mention the ease of breathability up north for me, with my disability. We cannot afford this place whatsoever. My son will grow up worse than poor. I will be applying for a mobility motion and might potentially be getting into Regional Housing so no, this place is not where we will hopefully be for the long term. But I don't know how long we actually will be here for. Yes, we will obviously make it as "homey" as we can - I grew up the exact same way.. from a toxic and abusive father to a mother who couldn't afford anything. My childhood sucked beyond words. But as I've found a solid path in life into my adult years, I've slowly been able to make good memories. Every good parent just wants to give their child more/better than what they had. And my son deserves better. As crass as it might sound, parents are not their children. Yes, I would die for my child. 100% without doubt. But I am still my own self. My soul is in the northern areas of Canada and Europe/Asia. My heart will always be with my son and so long as he is a child, I will never leave him. Canada is a corporation. Elizabeth does not care about us. She doesn't even care about her own country. Therefore, nothing will ever REALLY change. That said, minimum wage jobs have never been intended for adults to stay at permanently. They are a foot in the door to employment and gaining workforce experience. That's it. Our economy is based off the premise that adults are working well paying, skilled jobs - of whichever skill is needed or wanted. Cost of living is only the result of employers and service providers competing with foreign invasion. Get skilled at a job that people will pay for and that not everyone can do, and you'll be good.

    If someone is a victim of say a car accident by another driver, it was not the will of the victim, but in their mind , it is a random event. It probably was not the will of the driver to cause the accident either, but their lack of will so as to prevent it. Natures will can also affect people such ad a flood, anf it can direct their life to another direction. A persons will may be associated their desires in life. A will be could associated with a choice and-or the decision taken. Just some ideas.

    Thanks. There was a very popular youtuber girl called Brookers many years ago. I seen her fun vids on and off for a few years. I didnt even relize she had a severe scolosis till one vid had her xrays. I believe she got an operation. I have osteophytes on my spine.

      @@gingercowgirl5358 When I needed an MRI for a hernia operation, they found a large watery type of cyst on my spleen and some osteophytes on my spine. I had the hernia fixed and spleen removed in the same operation at the VA in Manhattan. Mostly a laproscopic operation. Well after some problems with hernia stuff, two more operations. I guess the osteophytes are not a huge problem yet other than maybe an achy back of some sort. I try to not lift things too long. As for Brookers, I just seen a new channel, so I guess all the old videos have been deleted and maybe its possible to contact her, but there is also many others just the same. ruclips.net/video/2v0YNZka94U/видео.html

      @@gingercowgirl5358 The osteophytes or pain isn't signifigant yet, I dont take any cure or pain medicine, but its still a bone disease to worry about. Hernia operations are very common I found out in the hospital. After the first operation, I had lesions causing digestive issues, then I got the hernia mesh in. Then there was a twisting or blockage issue next. I'm ok, I try not to lift heavy things. i have spent years out of my teenager and young adult life, contemplating free will and causality. i have a pretty good understanding of the subject and even debated it publicly a few times. my position is, there is no free will. i don't know what you mean exactly by free will being tied in to the butterfly effect, other than the butterfly effect being related to causality. i believe that we live in a deterministic universe. even physicists would argue with me over this point but even they will agree that on the macroscopic scale pretty much everything is deterministic. in other words, i believe that every action i will ever take, could have been predicted precisely, given a strong enough computer and enough data about the per-existing configuration of my brain and the rest of the universe. i have many reasons why i hold this position, but when it comes to free will it's way easier for me to explain how it's wrong, than it is for me to explain why determinism is correct. but for starters, at the basis of every single decision you ever make, are many many considerations and calculations that your brain does, and it spits out an output which your body then follows along with. this process is totally automatic, but given the complexity of consciousness, this whole process leaves us with the illusion that we have in fact "made a choice" when no such thing has ever taken place. a pretty good example another youtuber i was debating this topic with used, was putting your hand on a burning stove. you can "choose" to do that, and that was his argument for free will. that he says that if determinism is true, there would be no way for anybody to be able to make a choice that knowingly harms them because they are supposed to be "pre-programmed" but of course that's a total simplification of free will and choices. if i "choose" to put my hand on a burning stove, i could trace that though back to it's components. for instance let's say it's more important to me as a person to make a good point, than to avoid pain. by putting my hand on the stove i make a point despite the harm to myself. all that means is that it was inevitable for me, that if i were to get in an argument over free will, that i would then use an extreme "test" such as harming myself to prove free will. even that choice isn't a choice. because in this case, i guess i would be the type of person to harm himself to make a point (in this example), and so even that counter-instinctual choice, is still just an illusion of a choice. sure, we can go against "our instincts"...but that's not free will. because going against my instincts, could be part of my actual instincts. so this proves nothing. the bottom line is, every "choice" we make, is based on "who we are". but "who we are" is determined by a few things that ARE NOT free choices for us. our genes, upbringing, the time and place of our birth, random chance events that would happen to us down the line, etc. none of this is up to our choices, and so the basis for any decision you will ever make, is already pre-programmed into "who you are"....which was never really chosen by you. who you are as a person, was determined by chance events and causality.

    • @gingercowgirl5358
      @gingercowgirl5358 3 года назад

      Indeed, I was referring to the butterfly effect relating to free will and a causality. I do also agree with everything you said. I mean, its weird because the little or big choices that we make, typically we think of them as our own choices.... but as you said (and I agree with), those choices really weren't ours if you went far enough down the line. I just think it's a pretty interesting and fascinating topic and concept.

    I applaud your attempt to raise attention to mental illness in a general sense. Unfortunately mental illness is such a broad category, filled with nuance for every diagnosis, even for the same general classification (ie my depression is likely not going to be the same as your depression in many ways) that as you say, simply raising awareness is not really an adequate way to address the issue. I mean at this point, who isn't cognisantly aware of what "depression" is? I mean we all generally understand it from the outside, but unless you yourself have suffered it or dealt with people on an intimate level that have suffered from it, you can't really "get it" as it were. I wish that there was a good answer to how to deal with this sort of thing, but society tends to ostracize those with mental illness out of self preservation in a lot of cases, so it ends up being immensely difficult to address in any meaningful way. I mean if you have a manic depressive who will blow all their savings gambling or boozing and then enter a deep depression when they exit their mania, how do you deal with that in a way that isn't overly oppressive to an average citizen? Sadly this is something that I have struggled with for a very long time (both how to deal with someone with mental illness, as well as my own depression at certain stages of my life) and I have come to the unfortunate conclusion that there is no, and can be no, silver bullet to solve the problem. The sheer impotency that I feel when attempting to address such a profound issue has caused me more stress in life than I am comfortable admitting to, but I still feel that there must be some answer to the conundrum. Unfortunately it seems that I and so many others who have attempted to solve, or even properly address, the issue are just not intelligent enough to figure it out. I simply have no real thoughts on what a proper solution would actually look like that doesn't involve an extremely personal relationship with those that are affected, which does not scale well at all, so it cannot be a real solution for the majority of cases sadly. Even in what I would have considered a best case scenario, where I personally knew the person suffering and was in what I would consider a position to help them, they still ended up leaving this mortal coil of their own volition, despite what I thought were my best efforts. Sorry to drag this conversation down into a dark place...I normally try to keep things chipper, but I think this hit a little too close to home...Thanks for the upload regardless though, self reflection is always a good thing in my book, even if it's painful sometimes. <3

      100% this was an attempt to open the conversation. I am far from done talking about it but unfortunately because I have been in a deep depression for about a week now, that was all I could muster. There are many, many things I will be talking about in future and some things that I honestly don't think I can share because certain people might see it... believe me, depression and mental illness is a HUGE thing for me. I really appreciate and value your feedback and hope to continue to receive it. ❤ I am open to all criticisms (constructively) and feedback, as well as just hearing about how people feel.

    It's not a "lame attempt", it's you fighting against your anxiety and fears and honestly presenting your feelings. Nothing lame about that my friend. A lot of burgeoning RUclipsrs hide behind avatars and use jump cuts and a lot of editing because they have the same fears and anxieties as you do. Some of them eventually come out from behind their mask, and some (like Sargon) are forced out due to doxxing, but typically they only do this once they are comfortable with the platform and their following. Yet here you are doing raw unvarnished monologues from the get go. That takes a lot of guts! Very few RUclipsrs even attempt to do what you do because of how difficult it can be. To put it another way, a more people are comfortable singing karaoke with friends than they are singing A Capella on a stage alone. Even if you are currently a bit too stiff on camera, that will improve with practice and experience. Now none of this is to say that you shouldn't try using video editing to improve your comfort and the quality of your video's, but rather that you should be proud of what you have accomplished thus far, even if only to help improve yourself in the ways you wanted.

    I think the stereotype isn't necessarily that Canadians are nicer, but rather they're more polite even when they're being nasty. Kind of like being insulted by a British person with a posh accent somehow feels more...classy I guess? In any case any sort of generalization of an entire people is problematic. You see stereotypes of Americans in media from other countries and they basically depict us all as being Yosemite Sam type Texans, full of undeserved self confidence and overly violent for no real reason. Unfortunately with the lockdowns I think people are getting a bit meaner overall. I kind of worry for the kids who grow up in this environment and aren't allowed to socialize normally in classrooms and are mandated to spend a large portion of their day isolated and staring into a computer screen. Reminds me of the people from the movie Wall-E, living close to each other but never actually having direct interactions. Time will tell I suppose.

    • @gingercowgirl5358
      @gingercowgirl5358 3 года назад

      I definitely agree that generalizing any group of people is a problem. You could be right about Candians just sounding nicer when they are angry or being rude. I think we still sound like plain ole assholes but then, it's kind of bias for me to say that lmao. And yes, I too, worry about the kids being kept inside and away from real interaction. It's quite bothersome actually. I live in an apartment building that has quite a bit of children in it and I'll be lucky to see 5 kids on any given day, playing outside. It snowed here today, the first decent snowfall we've had all year. Not a single child aside from mine was playing in it or at least getting fresh air. Wall-E was an incredibly depressing movie... I definitely see the comparison. Which is sad.
