Final Rule on Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act

The new final rule went into effect on July 8, 2024. This is a tremendous step forward for strengthening civil rights protections for people with disabilities, finally recognizing and addressing the widespread, pervasive discrimination in healthcare. The...

How can I help?” 2. Be there. Show support, listen, and connect. 3. Help keep them safe. If the person is in crisis, it’s important to find out if they have a plan or ideas about timing or method. I’m sorry to hear about your experience. I feel afraid to go places by myself because I’m hard of hearing. Also, I am an ASL student, and reading about your story made me feel insecure about my future life.

I am so sorry you had to experience this. For most of us who are deaf or hard of hearing this is all to common although there are laws in place to prevent situations like this. This is why I don't go to health care providers or dentists or anywhere because a majority of time there is no one who will help me understand. People can be so cruel and for what reason? They are too lazy or lack compassion to help out. A little kindness and understanding goes a long ways and costs nothing. Kudos to the businesses and practices who make the time to accommodate everyone regardless of status. I hope you always get to associate with kind understanding people and not the ones who lack common decency. This breaks my heart.

Who cares. Covid doesn’t amount to anything. It heals just like everything else. There doesn’t need to be a test for anything.
