Dex en co
Нидерланды
Добавлен 5 июл 2006
Started out with 5 birds, among 1 African Grey Parrot, 2 Cockatiels and 2 budgies, the budgies unfortunately left us. The channel has his name from simply the main bird, Dexter, and the others, hence Dex and co.
African Grey Parrot on it’s back ‘enjoying’ attention
Our parrot Dexter normally enjoys this a bit more but for some reason he was in a sort of trance 🤷🏻♂️😅

African Grey Parrot Dexter can play with anything
Просмотров 2198 месяцев назад
Somehow he got this empty cup (he can’t escape with protection behind the holder) and plays with it including the water sounds he makes. Maybe fun for a minute, annoying for an entire day. He can just be happy with anything.
African Grey Parrot Dexter gives a kiss on command and does squats in bed

Dexter has a strange bed ritual where he likes to sleep next to you, but before that he is able to give some kisses and do some squats (well, he tries).

This is the best attempt of our African Grey Parrot trying to play and say Peekaboo! Mixed with a bunch of words I can´t all understand except very enthusiastic saying Hi! and determined saying Come!

Ah, nearly a decade later... I wonder how those 2 are now?
Fantastic video 🦜💖
Thank you!

Fantastic video! Would have been great if you had written his age during the stages.
You’re right, I should’ve done that and documented a lot more. I’m happy anyway I’ve recorded some of this footage already though, better this than nothing right :). It would’ve been amazing to have a camera permanently filming him during his first few months.
@@Dexenco I got my grey 5 days ago. He’s now 10 weeks old and I’m so happy with him ❤️
Yo how is he now?
Doing amazing. In great condition, just turned 11 years old and is a very happy bird. To be honest a little less intelligent than a regular African Grey I think though 😅
So cuuute 😊
Thank you ❤️
This video is legit amazing!! I love how you showed us from birth until older! I hope to one day have an African Grey and I look forward to seeing more videos like this ❤
Thank you so much! Your comments are always so sweet ❤️. Thank you for supporting our birds and hopefully I can follow you and your first African Grey as well and give some advice to you as well on how to gain love and trust for a pet / friend and even a family member since they will (hopefully) be around for at least 60 years🥰
@@Dexenco you’re absolutely welcome and although it won’t be this year that we get our bird I look forward to your advice when that time comes! 🙂
@MissQueesha77 I am not a specialist but I will tell you what we did to make sure our parrot was acting more like a cockatoo. He loves almost everyone. Normally they bond with one person very strongly, Dexter likes everybody though ❤️
You deserve one upvote ! One!

This is how i imagine Yao Ming's early years.
At what week do you start introducing solid foods like pellets or veggies while still hand feeding them formula daily?
It’s been a while so it’s hard to remember but I think for the African grey we just put some broccoli and soft but solid foods in a bowl in his cage and just some simple seeds, probably when he was able to stand straight up for longer than 5 seconds. Can’t hurt after a week or 8. Same for the cockatiel but maybe a bit sooner. Really hard to remember since it’s 13 years ago approximately. We asked the person who we got them from what’s best and did some research too. The vet was mostly trying to sell biological seeds that would cost like 200$ per kilo which was a bit too much. If you really want to know, since I’m not a professional I just have experience, try to ask a vet specialized in birds or look for some reliable literature on the internet. :)
How old is ur cockatiel? Im so curious, I have one too. It looks so sweet
Dobby is around 12 years old this year! Not 100% sure though since he was adopted, the other birds were all with us since they were born basically.
Mine is learning
How is yours doing now? ;)
cute bird
Thank you :)
Same like my snow 😍
Я так понял 😂
They are absolutely precious, can we get some little eggies out of these two?❤
They are currently over 20 eggs in a span of 3 years! All infertile though. She (white/yellow one) literally had her first egg into my hands, how weird that may sound. I thought she was deadly ill because she seemed to be breathing fast and in pain so I half panicked. Then she popped out an egg and hopped off my hand walking around it proudly, I’ve got footage from it too I hope I can find it!
i sometimes feel a lot of wet from their sneezes
That is exactly what I had here as well, I got a couple of bird germs right into my face. Good thing I was wearing some type of ‘safety goggles’ 🙃
Adorable bird my cockattiel sings like this too!
That’s so cute! Any favorite songs?
Absolutely terrifying, needs to be contained.
But can it play backgammon
Peekaboo
00:40 adorable
Wat een schatje, en de papegaai ook
Zeker!
I want a baby African grey and one day I will get one my girl passed away from bird flu this past thanksgiving. I only had her 9months I saw her at a feed store without feathers she was for sale and something about her stole my heart. She was depressed because her previous owner was dying from cancer. I miss her like it was yesterday the thing is she passed away knowing true love from a human being. God bless you and all your babies ❤️
I’m so sorry for your loss, but like you said the bird died knowing love and that makes some difference. It’s not fair sometimes when one lives to 80 years and another dies so young. All you can do is give a very good healthy diet and make sure the room is as safe as possible when you let one out. I hope for you that you can get another one some day to love and play with. All the best🥲
Quelle magnifique vidéo ! J'ai un perroquet gris du Gabon et ca m'a énormément touché de voir comment vous avez grandit avec. C'est magnifique ❤
Merci!
Soon he’ll be learning how to say “S H R O C K”
Hi
Hello!
@@Dexenco yay
I've had my baby from 5 days old. She is amazing
Thats even younger than ours, what did that baby look like? They always seem very scary and weird baby’s when they hatch and turn into beautiful creatures. Nature’s wonders🥰
8:45 He learnt from the cockatiel.
What are you feeding him in that tube(syringe)?
It was a special mix, I didn’t make it myself but we bought it from a big store that specializes in birds and they gave great advice, like to never apply pressure on a young parrots beak, a bit comparable to a baby’s head, it’s soft tissue and you can influence the beak a lot making it impossible for the parrot to eat later on and have many other problems. For everything we did we looked for a lot of advice and it helped that one year earlier we fed our cockatiel Mickey in the same way. She occasionally sneaked in to get a little of the weird substance they apparently really loved. Made the Parrot big and strong!
Hello how are you got a 6 week old african grey weight 420 grams how many times should be fed a day and when to start introducing solid food
Hi there that’s a wonderful bird you have. It’s been 9 months I see, sorry, but you must have found an answer. I’m wondering how your bird is doing now? :)
This video deserves to go viral! I watched all the video it is so touching
Thank you for Sharing.I Really enjoy watching your video.
He’s so cute❤❤❤
Ooo how old is he/she?
By the time I made the video he was 6 months or something, now he’s going to be 10 years this year 🙏
@@Dexenco woah thats old i know they can get older but most parrot dont make it to 10 years
Luckily when you feed them well and give them all the love they can get 60-80 years old or some even older!
@@Dexenco yea i hear some even get 100 years old. My ringneck is 2 now
I really hope mine does and that I am still there together ❤️ Beautiful bird! Yours could expect to stay alive for quite some time too then :)
Omg he is cute
He is and we think he knows it, every time we say cutie pie or something alike his feathers go all fluffy and he wants to play and roll over so we scratch his belly and under his wings 😅☺️
Ohhhh that is the sweetest thing I have seen all week!! ❤
😂😂❤
😆
Awwww sooo adorable ❤
good birds 😭💕
Their feeling for rhythm is unique, I hope in the future if I manage to get better camera’s and hidden ones to see their routines 😊
@@Dexenco I don't doubt it! I love birds so much, they are so smart and have such personality, I am such a grateful human to have ever been able to love birds the way I have and I'm so glad to see other people loving them and noticing these things as well. Birds are so special 🥲💙
@@moodybassist totally agree. Also the way they react to my emotions is amazing. Dexter, the African Grey, lies down on my chest and makes a sound like awww when I’m crying and he laughs when I laugh etc. It’s amazing. I’m very happy that you feel the same way! ☺️
Plz give me this birbs address so I can kidna- I uh mean give gifts, yea gifts
Yes it’s Ehm down by the pol stat..uh wait it’s at Venice beach. Yeah definitely Venice beach California ehmm 😄
@@Dexenco ok
Another precious gift the Lord hands us.
First I thought he wouldn’t stand a chance in the nba until I figured they throw him a pass and he dunks it every time from 15 feet down since he can fly 🤣
Magic baby.
I find them the perfect combination of adorable and ugly, cancelling each other out therefore the outcome of that equation would be simple; just perfect 🥰
@Dexenco I find them beautiful at any age. So sweet and fragile as baby's.
Totally agree!
Such a beautifully touching video.
Thank you so much! Unfortunately I simply can’t watch it anymore, the time I put into it combined with the years of love for the birds make it unbearable to see the end, honestly I would have an easier process mourning a person than I’d have with one of my parrots (with a few exceptions of course of people that mean he world to me) passing away. They are just family and extremely empathetic. If I cry they cry, if I dance they dance, if I look sad they always come checking what’s up their corresponding sounds. I love them so much. I don’t care if it would be healthy or not to put this amount of money and time into a pet but I’d literally have this relationship than a trillion dollars. Because the true love they have for you is literally priceless ❤️
Due to illness it has become hard to make videos. We also lost one bird (Puk) and his girlfriend age 14 has a tumor. I would love to provide more content for them. Up until now all I used is my phone and my own income. Unfortunately illness from both the birds and me has made this very hard. I am hoping to raise money through the existing videos providing super likes/thanks as well as donations. For more information you can contact me at dennisooijer@hotmail.com. Everything will obviously be 100% transparant, birds/pets/animals are my life. Thank you very much for even reading this. Much love, Dennis
When I see such videos I always wonder what's up now after such a long time. 11 years ago video! Wow. I am sorry you're dealing with illness and so are your birds. That made me very sad. I am a year late to your update but I genuinely hope you're all good. At least I hope you're doing well. Thank you for providing us with this amazing video ❤
plz someone tell me how much : african parrot
Priceless. But if you happen to be very lucky keep in mind this is not a rabbit, you need customs approval, fill out CITES forms, have it chipped or ringed at birth, no guarantees of them ever talking etc. It will be around 600$ total, annualy when taking good proper care of them about 2500$. They need massive intelectual stimulation. massive amounts of different foods / pellets as a base. Foraging toys for food. We use 2 cages. A good cage is easxsily around 700$ as well. So keep all that in mind. And then I still say priceless. Money shouldnt be an issue in my book when it comes to this, if you doubt on having enoughn dont get one please, if youre just asking I hope I gave you a rough estimate of the costs. Vet visits are around 200$ when there is nothing wrong either, when there is something wrong you can easily end up facing a choice to put the bird down or just easily keep it alive but it will suddenly cost 2k. Whe one of our budgies broke his leg the first vet wanted to give him a lethal injection to end his suffering for 50$. We brought him to a clininc where he stayed a week and got him back healthy and he lived 6 years more. Could've bought 600 new budgies for that price though but it was so worth it to cry with him in my hands being back healthy and all. So please keep in mind these animals live very long compared to what people are used to and hence they cost more, dissease cant be avoided forever so eventually you will, well hopefully not but statistics stae otherwise, be paying an average of 2.5k a year. the 600$ purchase is literally nothing for an animal thatsb going to dance with you 60 years from now. I hope you know what it's all about. Please be kind, I have no reason to think you wont be so sorry for my agressive approach; its more meant to be an example for others reading this. I wish you all the best <3
I will get soon a African grey but have already 2 cocktails do you have some Problems with this two different species? Or did they accept each other? I am scared that the African grey could hurt maybe one of the cocktails
In our case they accept each other but I ALWAYS keep them in sight and stay close. The Grey is strong and big enough to hurt them badly with a single bite so never risk it in my opinion, always stay close by.
Please, if you could answer, an African gray chick, 7 weeks old, weighs 400 grams, is it normal that he still doesn't walk?
Hi! I really don’t know, it is normal that he may have some issues still with finding his balance. For instance mine struggled to walk up until 3 months or so, tripping over his own feet 😅 but I really wouldn’t know for certain. Does he have any other issues?
@@Dexenco Thank you very much, by the time you answered me, mine is also starting to walk, and also gets into trouble from time to time with habits. He is not yet three months old
Sounds like everything will be fine! Tell him Dexter said hi to your parrot :)
when did u grey started talking? my simba is 2.5 months old... how should i potty train him?
The potty training was just a coincidence. Also not all parrots will talk, despite seeing them talk on youtube you should keep in mind that the ones you see are being put on youtube right because they do something special. However, take something your bird loves as food, keep repeating a word, only give the food to him once heb says it and then give him huge attention too. Its a game of getting food and attention for them, so thats how you can train them almost anything :) Best of luck!
