Our country is so weak just like the UK every other country not a problem to arm yourself. An not just is it not a problem but it's your legal right to own a firearm to protect your family an self an belongings. Just the other night there was a thing on the news 7 young men broke into a house with knifes an baseball bat where a man an his family were sleeping. So you tell me what would you do if they stabbed your family to death I think that gives everyone something to think about. Enough said

So yes you do need a licensed but if you don't have a gun licence and you wanna learn about the rule's and how to use a gun you need a licensed person to help you otherwise you can end up in so much trouble

So you don't need a licence to handle a firearm but you need a licensed person to help you to show you how to use a gun

I have a question: You have a break action shotgun that came with its own gun bag that you can lock. That gunbag fits into a normal backpack you can also lock. A small lockbox for ammo also fits into the larger backpack. So technically the ammo is seperate because its locked and the gun is double locked and out of sight. Can I legally carry this setup on a motorcycle to the range? No one is willing to give me an answer not even the guy I did the course with.

I find it utterly absurd that we cant own avest here in australia. I realise its super bloody low risk to ever need it here but if you were a regular shooter at a club i could understand, incase of projectile rebound or something. Its kind of strange when we had only a few days of training on handguns in the military and we were considered proficient.... But step out into the civi world and its an entirely different scenario. Seems the entire system is set up to ensure clubs keep earning an income. Its also a means to ensure casual handgun owners are an extinct species. Really didn't want to shoot competitively just wanted to improve my accuracy without competing with other shooters......so gave up my membership of the club.

So all the Lebanese in Sydney who have guns are members of pistol clubs. I never knew that.

I may have missed it but can you do a shoot of 2 separate classes on the same day to count towards you shoot quota or does it have to be one class one day and another the next?

I looked into it a while ago, and didn’t go through the process. Getting an AB firearms licence was a long enough process as it was.

Of course all these regulations discourage the real criminals from owning and registering their fire arms, which makes all of us feel much safer.

Pretty much the same as New South Wales.New members who don't have a long arms licence have to get a police check before being eligible to join.
