Ensure Static/Dynamic IP address of your local and Domain Controller(DC) and Primary DNS IP is your Domain Controller IP, 2. Local System & Domain Controller Firewall state Check - (Disabled - No Concern) (Enabled - Allow the port to flow the traffic between host to Domain Controller) 3. Firewall port connectivity from Client to domain (Local System firewall as per your domain settings - Mostly we will disable) 4. Check the telnet of 135,464 and 53 port for the communication between host to DC Share with me the error Screen shot for the better understanding - samkaraja@gmail.com

is there a way to set this up without needing a domain created?
Yes you can. But you need Wild Card Certificate for the same to access the Resource.
