How Effective Is 45acp Ball Ammo (FMJ)?
It really one of the top holsters if not the best. It conceals better. Naturally conforms to the body, less printing. Comfortable, transitions from IWB to the pocket, to a console. Convenient for everyday activities around the house without having to strap up. It’s like grabbing your wallet n go!!! lol The most natural way to carry. Enjoy
What grain weight
@@elozesty6376 230 grain.
Ouch 😵💫
Nice shooting! I just bought a .357 LCR snubbie and installed the longer Hogue grip - the ones that come with the 3” LCRs. I carry OWB at the three o’clock position and it hugs the body so closely that there’s virtually no printing under a thin cover shirt. I also have the .22mag. LCR with an external hammer. I love them both! Nice review!
@@ethanlareau3970 I would really like to have the 22 magnum. Thanks for your comment
I tried a Kimber Rapide 45, also have a S&W SD40 and a Tisas nightstalker 10MM (standard one my state calls threaded barrels and extended mags assault weapons). I do want that gun 9mm hope this dumb rules end.
The 45ACP was tested extensively on cadavers and dead pigs by the military during the early 1900's. There are mountains of evidence to the effectiveness of the 45ACP ball ammo both in testing and real world. Modern 45ACP ammo is even more effective.
I’m sold !
Good vid. I used to carry a G30 edc until my back went out; I truly do love 45. But, I now carry 9 or 40s&w. I have had some very interesting discussions with my friends in law enforcement, many of whom spent 30 or 40 years in it, and the way they almost universally say it: 9mm Is what they carry when they can't carry anything else. They prefer . 40 or 45. The VSP guys still love 357 sig (I think you're in SWVA as am I, so you already know that)(And I would admit, that caliber Will always be "the one that got away", great cartridge, but never caught on, sadly). None of them carry 10 mm for self-defense, they say the liability exceeds the benefit. But anyway, for me, and my back, I'm sort of forced to carry 9 a lot.
@@BlueRidgeCritter I really appreciate your comment, and I agree. Thanks for watching
Ive carried a Glock 19 all day every day for the last ten years. I handload 9mm right now and hopefully 45 sometime soon. A good 45 hollow point is much bigger and does more damage than 9mm... A good 9mm will expand to .65. A good 45 will expand to 1.05". And with handguns you don't have enough velocity to cause the 2nd wave of damage, you only destroy the tissue that the pistol bullet actually touches so a 45 does do more damage. How much more, I don't know... But I love those big bowling balls. Even testing 9mm and 45 on steel plates... And them both having the exact same energy numbers... The 45 swings it alot more. I dk how or why. The only real downfall of 45 I see is the cost and capacity.... And the fact that 230gr hollow points can be finicky sometimes with the expansion from short barells. I use a full size 1911 as my bedside gun... I can shoot the lights out with that thing.. and loaded up with 45 hst or win ranger t +p it's an absolute beast. Buy one of each! That same technology that has brought 9mm from being underperforming now to acceptable... That tech has also been applied to 45 auto. it's taken 45 from effective to extremely effective.
😂😂😂 another 🤡video. FMJ is a high liability. Stick with decent JHP
@@HDBujutsu1775 I agree that self defense ammo is ideal. I was not debating that. However, 45 acp FMJ is pretty effective. As far as I know, the military still uses FMJ ( I may be wrong about that though). Thanks for watching.
I. Can tell you my colt combat commander shooting 230 fmj hit red brick 2 shots it gone
Blazer is a watered down .357 magnum. Probably weaker than some 10 mm.
Some good stuff
The LCR has definitely stood the test of time. One of Rugers greatest releases. Hope it stays around for a long time.
Hague Convention of 1899. Just sayin….
Not to bad for a rattle can application. If you like it then that’s all that matters.
WWII says it’s badass!
You like the 30 ? It’s my fav Glock
@@SagaGun yes, I do. It is probably my favorite to carry too.
I'm going to date myself here but I served in the US Marine Corp back when the 1911 was the standard issue sidearm for the armed forces of America. I'm guessing it was because of some Geneva accord, but 230 grain ball ammo was all we ever saw. The firearm with that ball ammo put a bunch of the enemy in the hurt locker in a number of major conflicts. I wouldn't hesitate to carry it and even do sometimes.
Ugly
Did your fuse also come with a set of extra sights from Dawson Precision?
@@RundownfunJawn yes. Extra fiber optic sights
@ I might swap the factory out because for two reasons: the default green fiber optics are terrible without complete daylight and the fact that it has already come loose merely from cycling
Aside from the obvious tissue damage, a standard 230g FMJ presents fewer ftf/fte issues. I’ve run thousands of 230g FMJ rounds through my 1911’s over the years and haven’t had any mechanical problems. JMB designed the 1911 around 45ACP 230g Ball ammo; funny how JMB got it right the first time, lol!
And here I thought there was no greater disservice could be done to a Glock pistol than consigning it to a fate of being tucked under the flab roll of the Black Diamond gun guy's suicide lard vest. I may have to rethink this... Tragic.
Poor Glock!
L
But if you had 2 !
Just purchased one for Christmas. Simply love the gun ..most accurate hand gun i ever shot ...really impressed.
I order me one just picked it up yesterday n it’s really a nice 1911 but for some reason my safety won’t go up
@@YaBoyNiklo I’ve never ran into that before. Will the slide function ok?
I haven’t went to the range to shoot it but the safety only goes up when it has one in the chamber and it’s hard to cock back idk if it’s bc it’s new
I love mine it is epic
.45 acp, " Don't leave home without it " 👉💨
Me either
Just found your channel.👊 Mine should be here any day now, it was my selfish Christmas gift to myself this year.😁 I will poke around your content when I have more time, hello from Missouri.🫡
A .45 ACP is a very slow round, but it's very effective because of the large diameter and it drags material through the wound and it's just ugly.
Mass and frontal area. All we had for everything when I was in the Army was ball ammo. FMJ.
great review! What the 45 lacks in "power" it makes up for with MOMENTUM - nearly identical to 10mm depending on loadings. My experience is very much like yours. Thanks for the video!
@@mattspriggs5945 thanks for watching, and thanks for the comment.
Bought a Gear Up Package for $580, it came with? 4-17 round magazines, 1-15 round magazine, Viridian RFX11 Green Dot Optic and a range bag. Really like the Springfield Hellcat Pro.

I've always liked the 45 acp and in the 80's shot competition with a Ruger P90 (of course it was tuned up). I still have it and carry it for self-defense. The military made a big mistake when it went to 9 mm. PS, what do you have against water melons?
@@tlewisdean8645 lol…nothing personal against the water melon
God's caliber. Love you brother.

How long is it with the stock folded?
@@Goatoperator I think it is 22 1/2” with the stock folded
Besides being a great shooter, I chose the lightweight SR1911 for a couple features. #1 I love the integral plunger tube. Hate stock plunger tubes and end up silver soldering them in place because mine always came loose. #2 No extra grooves on the front of the slide. Damned things look like crap. #3 only 3 oz heavier than a Commander! Makes a big difference after a day packing it.
During WWII it saved a lot of US lives. I've always heard the German troops really hated that round.
I don’t carry a .45 acp, but if I did I think I would load it with ball. Given the cost of self defense rounds in that caliber, and the apparent effectiveness of ball at self defense distances, I think it makes good sense to do that.
Good video!
@@royceprimeaux9936 thanks
The Remington golden saber is one of the best rounds hollow point rounds that will not Jam in the 1911 the way to design a little bit kind of a roundness
Thinking about one. 🎉
@@bigracer3867 I really like this one!!
The military uses full metal jacket ammo so that should also help prove you're point
Military uses FMJ(ball) ammo because of the Geneva Convention ie rules of war.
